Ryan Mallett (2 Viewers)

I think it's also worth noting that the HOU RB's had zero targets. This will most definitely change once Foster returns, adding a hugely important dimension for Mallett. Not just the actual high-percentage/high-potential completions to Foster but how the threat of those will take attention away from Hopkins/AJ.

He had a 70 yard TD on the second play of the game if he doesn't under throw Andre Johnson by 15 yards.

His second touchdown was a pick 6 if the ref didn't get in the way.

One positive to the strong arm? He had another pick 6 but threw it too hard for Kruger to handle.

He made panic throws the rare times the Browns sent pressure. Why didn't they send more? Great question!

He made his living on quick throws underneath. All game long.

Overall, very uninspiring performance.

The fade to Watt was nice though.
Silly troll-level post.
I thought it was a pretty fair assessment of his game yesterday, but if you prefer the box score scouting method, enjoy.

 Your butt hurt is showing.

Was the ref in the way? Yes.

Was it going to be a pick? Maybe, but probably just a tipped/batted ball.

If it was a pick, would it be a pick 6? Obviously not. Unless you are a butt hurt Browns fan.
Whatever you say, Mallett owner.
I don't own Mallett. Just happened to watch the game. Stop trying to frame your crying as scouting.

The Browns played badly. All Mallett had to do was not give away the game and the Texans walk away with a W. He did that. Barely.

Really? What game were you watching? Just curious how you came away thinking Mallett, at any point could have "given the game away"? Sounds like another BUTT hurt brownie! I saw a much improved "offensive" performance with a defense that was trying to give the game away, with stupid penalties. The guilty player has held this team together so I cant kill him, but at no point was the offense not in complete control of this game. Texans won, get over it.

Bolded #1 - Uhh, the two near pick 6's.

Bolded #2 - Yes, they beat the Browns in every facet of the game. I thought this was about Mallett though. If I ended up in the game thread by accident please re-route.

Thank baby Jesus "near pick 6's" aren't a stat, or a determining factor that could change the outcome of a game! Phewww.... that would have been really bad for Mallett (didn't want to say Texans, hate to have to reroute this to the game thread)

Troll huh? Nice one MAC. Anyways, not arguing about his "stats". I don't own him, but this discussion is about Mallet, not his "great" stats. He played well, bottom line. It was a refreshing break from Fitzpatrick. Never said anything about his stats being earth shattering, simply that he didn't even come close to losing the game! I cant change your mind, your a browns fan.

My fandom has absolutely nothing to do with his mediocre performance. The Texans won because of the run game, the defense, and the Browns playing like dog ####.

Is this an official NFL stat? How close were they really to being pick 6's? You saw the All-22 and know without a doubt that the passes (which weren't intercepted) would have been caught and the defender would have then raced down the entire field for a TD?

Even if it was an official stat, he'd still have it wrong. The butt hurt blinded him from reality. Mac believes it would have been an 85 yard interception return from a linebacker, however 1) It would almost certainly have bounced off his hands as it was a hard thrown ball 2) He'd have been tackled probably within 15 yards of the interception

I can get when someone almost picks off a WR screen pass - where there are no offensive players between the interceptor and the goal line AND forward momentum gives them a lead - that they might reasonably think it would be a pick 6, but homeboy is just delusional in this case.

people are so odd here, they really have their faves

200 yards in debut is a good debut.

Mettenberger (who hasn't been learning on an NFL team for years) throws for 300 and he stinks. Colt McCoy has ridiculous accuracy and he stinks
200 yards @ CLE with one of the best pass defenses (CB combo Skrine and Haden) ... and they were in control of the game handing the ball off ... using "200 yards" vs. "300 yards" as a point of comparison for QB performance is just dumb
Whitehurst threw for 194 against the Browns in roughly 3 quarters.

Mett 65.9% Mallett 66.7

7.29 average 7.03

Two TDs one INT for each

Which brings us to- 299 yards versus 207 yards

One guy supposedly stinks while the other had a good game

Do you think that had more to do with what the Browns were doing defensively? Stayed in off man frequently without putting pressure on the QB while the Texans game plan called for consistent quick hitters. Really baffling stuff. His first read was constantly open by 5 yards. When it wasn't bad things happened or Andre Johnson bails him out on 4th down.

Either:

A) You just traded him away and lost him to waivers so you are dogging him to make yourself feel better

or

B) You went to high school with him and he mocked you a lot.

Mac,

Come on.

You have to give Mallett credit for having a quick release.

Its pretty obvious he has a quick release.

Or C, I am trying to have a constructive conversation with someone who watched the game and is not interested in having a you're just a butt hurt Browns fan slap fight about it.

Pick your own narrative though.

Not doubting his quick release. Didn't watch much of him at Arkansas, but it was evident in his brief period with Michigan.

It takes more to be successful in this game than a big arm and a quick release though. I didn't see any of that Sunday.

So your not doubting his quick release, and also saying that you didn't see that or a big arm on Sunday? You didn't see any of that eh? Alrighty then, well I suppose the report of the 2.06 sec per pass is total bull shiZ

I'm giving you opportunities to re-read my post and delete your post by not quoting, but for some reason you're not.

I suppose "more" would need to be expanded on for me to properly respond. "More" is what you didn't see I suppose.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/23/mallett-could-miss-several-weeks-with-pectoral-injury/
from john mcclain

After getting hurt at Cleveland, Mallett practiced all week. He was 21-of-45 for 189 yards. His passes were off target compared to Cleveland

Mallett suffered the pectoral injury at Cleveland. He was on injury report with a chest injury as probable and didn't miss a down.

Mallett is one tough SOB to play with an injury to a pectoral muscle, especially on the right side, which is his throwing side.

If the MRI shows a tear in Mallett's pectoral muscle, he could miss several games. The bottom line is that Ryan Fitzpatrick is likely back.

Mallett underwent treatment a long time after the game, and when he was asked if he was hurt, he flexed his right hand and said no.

Mallett played hurt through the game, which explains why he was so off target compared to the win at Cleveland.

Mallett played with an injury to his right pectoral muscle, will undergo an MRI and could be lost for several weeks.
