Ryan Mathews & Mike Tolbert, RBs, San Diego Chargers (1 Viewer)

And McFadden, who looks like he may be good to go after the bye. I'd have Mathews in the 8-10 range, but that's not a bad place at all.

Looks like a done deal....

Mike Tolbert (hamstring, hand) was again absent from Chargers practice Saturday. He won't be active against the Chiefs. Curtis Brinkley should serve as Ryan Mathews' primary backup, but it wouldn't be surprising if he received fewer than five touches. Mathews' workload figures to be massive against the Chiefs' 25th ranked run defense

Crap,F.Jones, Ingram and now Tolbert out. I have to start Foster, Ball & Ridley. I need a miracle this week.

Who in the heck is this guy? What happened to Jordan Toddman?

Mathews will be carrying teams to wins this week. Everything is setting up for just a monster monster week. 30 carries likely against a stout KC pass defense.

This sucks. I have Tolbert and opponent has Mathews.

I wouldn't have played Tolbert but he would have sucked some from points away from Mathews.

Not looking good.

I forget exactly which game it was but earlier in the year when both Tolbert and Mathews were out for a part of the game the guy who took over was Hester.

Hester is the play. Good for 10 in a ppr imo.

Mike Tolbert (hamstring/hand) missed Chargers practice again on Friday and is uncertain to play on Monday night. The Chargers will release their official injury report on Friday, but Tolbert looks headed for a questionable tag. Per Michael Gehlken of NBC San Diego, Tolbert wasn't even working out to the side of Friday's practice. Look for Ryan Mathews to receive upwards of 25-28 touches against the Chiefs if Tolbert can't play. We'll know more about Tolbert's status this weekend.
Just traded for Mathews :pickle:
congrats

Seeing him on that sideline last night when I needed a little more to win my game really pissed me off. Kid has got to toughen up if he wants to be a star. Where is **** Vermeil with a diaper comment when you need him?

Mathews out with a ruptured uterus, allowing some RUDY to flourish in his absence.
Yeah, unfriggen real, trying to pull off a win on Monday Night and this guy is standing on the sideline while some unknown starts to blow up in his place...
"The Unknown" (Brinkley) now has a concussion, so with the short week, he might not be playing next week. Matthews has a groin pull now, and Tolbert has his hand and hammy problems...So who suits up vs. the Pack- Hester? Although even he had some sort of foot problem last week...

If Mathews, Tolbert, and Brinkley are all out, it would probably be a combination of Hester and Todman.

NFL Network is suggesting that Tolbert will start...Ryan Matthews is soft.

Probably more of an Asst. coach question but you ,matt/tolbert guys would know best. Some of us have the chance to pick up the likes of a Tolbert/Bush/Ringer ish rbs where do you see them for the rest of the year?

Tolbert for as long as he can avoid boo boo's that hurt. Tolbert could be huge if healthy. Get him if you can. It's hard to imagine Tennessee benching CJ2K Just because of all the $ they gave him. They would look like idiots, unless they ask him to fake an injury. However, I have Ringer in 2 leagues sitting at the end of the bench. With woodhead being arrested @ 1:30am for groping a girl at a halloween party in a bar, Ridley is a getting a little closer to seeing some playing time. Well see?Bush if your desperate. Curtis Brinkley looked pretty good but He has a concussion, He leaped on two different plays with reckless abandon and looked good. When I watched the game I thought to myself that he is going to get hurt. Then I heard about the concussion.J. Baldwin looked good for K.C. as well if you need a WR. Bowe and Breaston will get theirs as well though.

Per Rotoworld

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee, "it is feared" Ryan Mathews (groin) will be unavailable for Week 9.

Acee is one of the most reliable beat writers in the country, so his word should not be taken lightly. With San Diego's Wednesday practice coming less than 48 hours after Monday's loss, Mathews will almost certainly sit out. That means the first real clue as to his Sunday status will come on Thursday. You should tentatively plan on being without him this weekend.

If Tolbert is back to healthy and practicing, I'm all for it. Let Mathews sit and watch Tolbert do well. Maybe that will motivate him a little to get rid of the dress and start playing football. And a healthy Tolbert this week could be a sneaky excellent play against Green Bay.

Will Tobert be a sneaky play if GB gets up 21 points on SD quickly?

Sure, he will catch like 7-8 passes

If Matthews is out, I think Tolbert is an obvious play regardless of the score.

He hasn't caught more than 5 passes since week 2. I'm not in a PPR league.(Tolbert owner)

We said that regarding Matthews last week when Tolbert was out and GB > KC

Tolbert actually has heart though. GB is not winning games on defense.

Not as well as we expected and both RB seems to be bit with nagging injuries

If Matthews is out, Tolbert will be getting just about all of the RB targets out of the backfield this week, so the potential for touches via receptions is not trivial. If Tolbert is healthy enough to go (and that's what it sounds like) he'll be a good start this week.

I like Tolbert without Mathews more than I like Mathews without Tolbert. Tolbert's pass-blocking goes a long way to aid the offense's movement of the ball. Mathews', not so much.
