SA and Seattle are talking about a extension. (1 Viewer)

Don't mess with Texas
I didn't see this posted anywhere. I was watching ESPN this morning and it was reported that SA and Seattle are talking about a contract extension to keep Alexander long term.

FYI, for the Alexander owners.

P.S.

They've been talking all year, last year, and the year before. The problem with SA is that he'll be 29 at the start of the season and that is getting long in the tooth in RB years. He still has two very good years in him and that is what it boils down to. He would get more money in Arizona, Carolina, and maybe Cleveland but the system makes him better and the Seahawks have the perfect runner to fit what they want to do.

But the guy is a liability in the pass game which really hurts and he'll be "old" in two years as far as RBs go. I think he stays in Seattle but the contract will be very interesting. I think they'll give him a fat signing bonus and an out so they can dump him in three years. That actually might be the best deal for him as well because guaranteed money is tough to come by in the NFL.

Fantasy owners would obviously be better off seeing him come back to Seattle although I seriously doubt he'll ever reproduce the numbers he had this year. The yards yes, the TDs no. I hope they lock him up because he is a tough guy to replace no matter how good a RB could be in that system. Alexander fits it well and both he and the Seahawks are much better because of it.

If I am Cleveland I am not throwing a ton of money Shaun Alexander's way. Rueben Droughns is no SA but he played pretty well for them this season.

They have plenty of other areas to worry about, why dump a load of cash on the one position where you have a proven commodity?

Hopefully if the Hawks resign Alexander he will donate a portion of his SB towards gifting green towels to Seahawks fans everywhere.

DD, right before the Super Bowl, SA said in an interview that there were no talks and I agree with your analysis of SA.

This shtick gets more hilarious everytime I see it. Green towels and "gifting." Maybe you should consider changing from food service to marketing as a career. This idea will make all your friends green with envy.

Sensitive much?

Can we just stop the pissing in the Shark Pool and get back on topic. Enough already!

My guess is that Seattle and Alexander are going to get something worked out.

Agreed. Alexander has a good thing going there, good system, QB, O-line, division, conference, etc. As long as Seattle is in the ballpark with other teams there is no sense in him leaving.

He was quoted somewhere as saying he would only stay in Seattle before free agency for $500 billion.

I believe him. There's a good chance he ends up back in Seattle, but there's about a 0% chance that they lock him up before the start of free agency.
