****San Fran 8-3 at Philly 10-1**** (+3, 47) 4:25 NFCC '23 Rematch (1 Viewer)

It seems like every big game over the last five years we talk about a big penalty that decided the game rather than a big play or player. This year is the worst I ever remember with all the flags. Last night's great game was ruined by all the penalties.
That and I hate that after a really great play the first thing a person looks at is if there is a flag to bring it back.

To me that means your game is failing.
Or after any incompletion, both the QB and intended receiver are begging for a flag

We have a Frazier statue too. Right outside Xfinity live in the sports complex.

This was before Philly had built it. Sadly, Joe Frazier died without ever having been honored by the city he grew up in from the time he was fourteen.
really kind of untrue. It is weird how all of these people who don't live in the city have all of this information. Sure there isn't a national recognition for Joe, but look in North Philly at the murals and near his gym, etc., etc.

Also should consider Joe wasn't born in Philly, he was considered more of an "adopted son" to the city

ETA: if you want a boxer who should get more love from the city, I would say it should be Bernard Hopkins. Sure he wasn’t a HWY so mainstream doesn’t know him as well, but he was dominant and made me some good cash throughout his career.

Arik Armstead is back at practice for SF.

Dallas Goedert is practicing for PHI for the first time since injuring his arm against the Cowboys

Yeah I didn’t quite get that post. Anyway, I live exactly one mile from my front door to the Mike Schmidt statue at CBP. And you’re totally right about B Hop. I ran into him one time at the Starbucks on South Street. He’s not a very big dude and he seemed like a nice enough dude but I swear to God you could just feel this vibe coming off of him that made you realize he could render you unconscious in a nanosecond 🤣
Hell of a story coming out of Graterford and those guards saying, “you’ll be back.”

49ers’ status report vs. Eagles

Questionable

DT Arik Armstead (foot)
RB Jordan Mason (hamstring)
WR Ray-Ray McCloud (rib)

All three practiced on Friday, and Armstead has already said he's playing.

Seems like the Eagles should try and get the lead going into the 4th. Fun silly stat:

Kyle Shannahan is 0-37 when trailing by 8 or more points in the 4th quarter. Only team in the league to do that since 2017.

Wow looks like the cards are stacked high against the Eagles in this one.

I'll take the home dogs to cover and win!

I'm taking the eagles in my picks pool. I don't trust Shanahan to not do something stupid in the 2nd half

Prove me wrong Kyle, prove me wrong

What are other coaches records in comparison?

All I could find was this:

Records when trailing by 3+ going into the 4th quarter, since 2017:

Shanahan: 1-29
McVay: 3-25
Harbaugh: 4-21
Belichick: 4-25

Sirriani hasn’t been around too long but he was 9-8 in year one (playoffs) taking over a disaster and 14-3 last year (made Super Bowl), 10-1 so far this year. He’s had at least 4 games this year that he’s been down going into 4th quarter and won.

Not a Cowherd fan but here's some interesting data:

"Eagles dont flex because they cant flex...the numbers don't lie here"

lol you hang onto your blowouts of the Giants, Cardinals and Steelers and make sure you hang onto your 3 losses as well. I’ll take my teams’ 10 wins any day of the week.

“Eagles can’t flex” is a weird ****ing take the week after they dropped 37 on the bills, scoring 30 points in the second half and overtime. But…..ok.

I will, as well as our blowouts against the Cowboys, Jags, and Seahawks.

You're not getting what he means by flex. A flex is when a team buries/blows out a team, and Philly obviously isn't capable of it.

Don't get so uppity about it, he's just a click jock who probably doesn't believe half of what he says on the air anyway.

I don’t think I’ve ever waited so long for one team to finally have their mouths shut once and for all. So looking forward to this game.
So a regular season game will shut a team or fan base up once and for all? Is that what you're saying? Cuz I don't see either team or fan base shutting up with a loss because there's still lots of football left.

If SF wins I'll celebrate that day and move on to getting ready for the Seahawks. If Eagles win, I'll accept the loss and move on to getting ready for the Seahawks.

It's just football.

Cowherd was also convinced oregon was going to dominate Washington and make the final 4. I like him but he's wrong a good bit.

In reality the bickering between the two fanbases is only going to get louder after this game, with the losing side proclaiming “we’ll see you again in the playoffs”. As a Pats fan I’ve seen it first hand with Steelers, Colts, Broncos and Chiefs fans long enough to know how this sort of thing plays out.

It's just football.
Certain fanbases have a hard time with this concept. Their feelings get hurt if you say something about their team like you’re insulting their family or something.

It’s weird because I interact with people irl that are fans of these certain teams and we talk **** back and forth all season long. It’s fun, and no one’s feelings get hurt.

It’s really weird how different it is on this board. I’ll never understand it. This board could be alot more fun if people would just lighten up.

It’s not life or death. It’s just football 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kind of disagree with this but one. Win or lose, Eagles’ fans will move on to discussing the Cowpokes. This is a bit of SF Super Bowl do they may keep going no matter the outcome, but the Eagles don’t have time to reflect. Maybe after Sea, but my guess is they won’t be able to take those last 3 games too easy either because their advantage to #1 seed will likely be closer than it is now.

You actually think if the Eagles win, their fans won't be gloating and pounding their chests ad nauseum? 🤣 good luck with that.

As for this game being SFs super bowl, I don't think a team (or their fan base) that's been in a SB and 3 NFCCGs in 4 years looks at any reg season game as their SB. They know what their goal is and this game, while absolutely important, won't make or break their season.

And for the record, if SF wins, you won't see me going on and on about it. I know it's just a game on the schedule before the next one, and the next one is important too. It'd be nice to get the W, but being healthy when it counts in Jan is what I'm most worried about, win or lose Sunday.

I think the Niners are the better team, but my gut says Philly wins this. Niners are the road team and this is compounded by the fact they are travelling to the east coast for the early game.

The real concerning thing is that his teams have been down by 8 or more points so many times since 2017. 37 times? Is that number correct. That's nearly 36% of the games that Shannahan has coached.

NOTE: Sirianni has 2 wins (IND in 2022 and BUF in 2023) when trailing by 8 or more points. Eagles are 2-3 in games when down by 8+ going into the 4th under Sirianni.

lol uppity. You are the reason eagles fans hate the Niners. Like you specifically. You flame-post a link to an idiot hoping to get some reaction. An eagles fan points out how lame the take is and you’re all “what’s the big deal don’t get so uppity”. No one got uppity. Your team is going to get smashed tomorrow. Enjoy the game.
It’s just football bud

I hope they have BG on mic'd up this week. that guy is going to have some funny things to say throughout the game I think

If PHI doesn't play a complete game from opening kickoff to the end, they are going to lose. They can't go into halftime down by a couple of scores and expect to pull one out. That's when the "intangibles" for SF will rear their heads. SF wants to show the world that they got a bum deal in last years NFCCG and the best way to do that is to pour it on. I don't expect them to get complacent if they're up by 10 at halftime.

That being said, I don't really have any faith in Purdy leading this team back if they're down by 10+ at halftime. If PHI can jump on SF....Purdy hasn't shown anything that shows he can carry a team back.

I like the home dog. I like the idea that the whole NFL is calling for SF to win. PHI pulls this off. The cost? A loss to DAL next week. The game this week will be a dogfight and PHI is going to have to take lumps to win this one.

The only game all year that the Eagles have led by 10 at halftime was against the Bucs. Sure anything is possible but if you’re counting on Purdy having to come from behind big, you might be a little disappointed.

i believe Lane played with a torn abductor last time they faced each other and I don’t recall Nick Bosa showing up on the stat sheet. In a year where he was DPOY. If Lane plays, I expect him to handle his business again.
Still talking about that game, even though its Niner fans who cant let it go. Lol. I hope you really think Bosa will be handled by Lane Sunday. Last season, Bosa had 18.5 sacks, but you know what? The next 3 highest sack getters on the team had 5, 4.5, and 3 sacks. So all they had to do was chip and hold like every team does against him, because nobody else was a threat to get to the QB. Also, he was playing through an injury he got on the sideline.

Bosa wasn't even trying to pass rush in the NFCCG, he was doing more of a mush rush because they were so scared of Hurts running on them.

Another that cant stop talking about that game. This is a ridiculous take, but can't say I'm surprised. The hate is strong with this one.

Watch the game again, he was doing a mush rush to see if Hurts was keeping the ball on the RPO. Warner was frozen in place too. It was funny to watch. You have no idea what you're looking at when you watch football do you?
LMFAO. Don’t act like you know shiot other than being a straight up homer. 🤣

I’m not sure why my posts in response to wingnut were deleted; I didn’t think anything I wrote was that egregious.

Anyways, it’s pouring here right now but supposed to clear up closer to game time. Gameday is finally here! Go Birds!!

I think the biggest mismatch in this game today is the Eagles defensive line against San Fran offensive line. Shanahan‘s quarterbacks seem to get injured a lot, and I wonder if his scheme doesn’t prioritize protections. If the line can get to Purdy early, it’ll be a tough day.

The other variable is turnovers. San Francisco gets a lot of turnovers and capitalizes on them. I think if the Eagles don’t turn the ball over, they can score more points than San Fran. Unfortunately, protecting the ball has not been their strong suit this year. If they can play a flawless ball protection game, then I think they win. If they cough it up and give San Francisco short fields, I don’t think they can win.

My hope is that the Eagles get the ball first charged down the field and score a quick touchdown. Getting out in front of these guys is going to be how the Eagles win. If ever there was a week to play four complete quarters its this one. I think they do it with a heavy dose of Swift.

Eagles win 34 to 24

Was looking forward to watching this game, but evidently the Buccaneers are enforcing the blackout on Fox in the area.

Instead the only game in town is their CBS showdown with the 1-10 Panthers.

:kicksrock:

Agree. And you know we are going to turn it over. It's rare when we dont
