*** San Francisco 49ers *** Official thread (7 Viewers)

Don't forget KS and crew wasted a 3rd round pick on a kicker...this kicker
They also traded 3 1st Round picks to move up to draft Trey Lance.

Yea they have quite the record...wonder why we have no depth and no youth?
Purdy pick saved them. Otherwise they would be the laughing stock right now.

This team without williams, kittle, warner, cmc etc...going to be a laughing stock. There is nothing at almost all positions

Unsure if Seattle’s DL is just awesome or the OL sucks. We’re asking a lot of Purdy to come through without a running game and limited weapons.

I lean more Seattle bad than SF good after that game tbh, but who knows. Kittle
:kicksrock:

Moody, I mean wtf? If he isn’t cut tomorrow, what are they hanging on to?

And Purdy (who I admit to being a staunch defender of over the years) really threw 2 terrible picks. The game winner was also mighty lucky, this game left a lot to be questioned with him imo.

Moody is 12/23 since week 10 last year on all FGs. Has to be cut.
They just refuse to admit a 3rd rounder for a kicker was a mistake. I mean wtf!!!

I was with a group of buddies, most of them had the under, I was just rooting for SF. After the TD we all went nuts bc they basically sealed the game and avoided OT. Then we all realized they still had to make the extra point. Should be more or less a guarantee, yet we were all terrified!

Even the national play-by-play guy - who is probably not as up to date with the Moody drama as the fan base is - said something like, "we're all holding our breath" when Moody went out for that last PAT.

49ers had no kicker tryouts today. Make it make sense.

Al Sacco:

Matt Prater’s performance for the Bills is a good example of why the 49ers are delusional with the whole Jake Moody thing.

Prater joined Buffalo on Thursday & made all 5 kicks including the winner.

You don’t need to keep a kicker who’s hurting the team or draft one. Ever.

So there may be hope...

HC Kyle Shanahan on the kicking situation right now: "We're looking into all that stuff now. I mean there's options just whether it's stay the status quo, bringing in guys for workouts, practice squad, but we're going through all that stuff right now. I just finished with the team and I know the personnel department's going to look into all that stuff and give us those options."

Kittle to miss a few weeks and....

Oh boy

Kyle Shanahan: #49ers QB Brock Purdy dealing with injuries to left shoulder and toe. He said the toe injury is more serious and is uncertain about his availability for Sunday at New Orleans.

If necessary, I think Mac Jones could guide them to a win over the Saints. But ideally that won't be needed.
Darnold 2.0, let’s go!

I’m a little sad about it because he’s clearly a talented kid who got into his own head after sustaining the high ankle sprain last year.

Prior to that he was money.

Also, I’d drafted him in 2 leagues as a rookie so I have a soft spot for him. But it’s probably best for the Niners, and I have Aubrey starting anyway, so…

Holy crappola, 9ers amigos... Practically your whole offense died on Sunday. Brock has a bum toe now... Which toe?... Tell me it's not the dreaded!!

Why do I have a feeling Kyle Shanny is gonna show everyone why he wanted to draft Mac Jones #3 ahead of Fields and Lance, before he panicked.

"Money" is strong, but I would be 0% surprised if he resurfaces in a year or two and is great and has a long career. Kickers almost always struggle for fairly long time - which is why you should never draft one, let alone early, but that's a separate issue.

🚨 Free Agent Kicker Watch 🚨

With Jake Moody gone, #49ers fans… who would you want SF to sign? ⬇️

👟 Dustin Hopkins
👟 Greg Zuerlein
👟 Eddy Pineiro
👟 Michael Badgley
👟 Greg Joseph
👟 Austin Seibert
👟 Zane Gonzalez
👟 Cade York
👟 Matt McCrane
👟 Justin Tucker (suspended)

Parker Romo
Signed by ATL already

Just heard on 95.7 that the 49ers are working out Eddie Pinero. Apparently out ST coach has a connection to him from (Jets or Panthers, was a little unclear)

Also reportedly will be working out multiple kickers.

He might, but Roberto Aguayo never recovered after being picked in the 2nd round by Tampa Bay...maybe it's just too much pressure being drafted really high.

As for Moody, just saw this on Twitter:

I am 100% convinced this play ruined Jake Moody’s career (video)

Before: 13/14 (92.9%)
After: 11/20 (55%)

"Money" is strong
Fair. But he was having a good year to that point.

He wasn't that great his rookie year either. And he missed a kick in all three playoff games he appeared in. I think the pressure of being a "highly-drafted" kicker doomed him from the start. Should never have drafted him, and should've moved on long ago when the cracks started showing.

I share this opinion. He had missed one kick all year.

I was thinking today that when you're drafted as a kicker in the third you're kind of doomed mentally. It just must weigh on a guy to justify that kind of draft position when there's little room for error at the position and any pressure in your head and you just start missing until the yips set in. Then you can forget your career.

Janikowski is the only exception I can think of and he was just a different kind of dude than most college kickers.
