Seahawks sign Duckett to 5 yr deal (1 Viewer)

I don't mind Duckett (actually wanted him for short yardage in GB)...but not sure he is a great fit for Seattle.

Have not read the whole thread...but they already have Weaver that seemed to do well in short yardage and appears similar though a FB. Would they not be better suited sticking with he and Alexander and drafting a young RB to take over?

ByeBye, MoMo?
It's going to be very interesting who gets set free. I've read several places that the Seahawks were very high on Chris Johnson, maybe by signing Duckett they are giving up hope of trading up for a big 3 guy and are going to take the super speedster in the second and go TE in the 1st. I would imagine that if they go this route that MoMo would be the casualty. If they trade up or get a gift of Stewart or Mendenhal falling to 25 then I think SA would be the odd man out. Either way they're going to have a guy they know can start, Duckett and a rookie to rotate in there as well as working Weaver in. I actually like the idea of having HB/Weaver or Duckett/Weaver in the same backfield, offers a lot of versatility on 3rd downs.

:lmao:

T.J. Duckett's reported five-year contract with the Seahawks is essentially a three-year, $7.5 million pact.

The deal includes about $4 million in unlikely to be earned incentives, $4 million guaranteed, and a cap charge of $1 million in 2008. It's still a nice deal for the 27-year-old. The team will now pursue a speedy complement.

Wow. Wonder how much is guaranteed. Goal line back time. SA just dropped even further down the draft boards.
Duckett is awful. He's not a very good goal line back. He's run like he's 190lbs (constantly breaking it outside) not like he's 250lbs. He's an awful RB.Regardless, looks like Mora is rebuilding the Falcons. I guess we know where Vick is going to land when he gets out of jail. Waiting for Dunn to be signed as a player/coach. :P
He was the most prolific goal line back in the league for three years in a row while in Atlanta.
Do we really have to hear about his short yardage conversion %? :hophead: I remember when the Skins got Duckett, Dodds dropped Portis from RB7 to RB23 because "Duckett is one of the best GL RBs in the league". Atlanta had a good rush offense. Very good run blocking OL. Opposing DEs chasing Vick regardless if he had the ball or not, and Dunn being one of the worst short yardage RBs among starting RBs in the NFL. He got the carries by DEFAULT, and yes converted quite a few. I dont want to go Jerry Jones on you, but there probably were 300 RBs who could have done that. And this is how the best short yardage runner of his decade ended his last 5 games with ATL.39 carries for 43 yards. He was AWFUL. His final game, 6 carries for -4 yards. He basically bombed his way out of ATL. And hasn't done much since. 4th team in 4 years. Amazing how one of the best GL RBs in the league keeps bouncing from team to team. You'd think one of the most amazing GL runners of our decade would be able to find a stable job. Clearly NFL GMs don’t read football insiders. And Seattle ever so impressed with Ducketts skills, goes out and signs ANOTHER RB 2 days later. Duckett is a complete and utter bust. 5 tds in 2 years for the best GL runner of our generation? Something doesn't add up, oh yeah, he sucks.
