**Seattle at San Francisco** (-10, 43.5) Sat 4:30 Kickoff Wildcard Game #1 (1 Viewer)

Another Wild Card playoff game between division rivals. Raise your hand if you said in week one we'd have a playoff game with Geno Smith and Brock Purdy as the starting quarterbacks.
Seahawks defense has played better lately which makes them tougher than a month ago. The Niners are getting healthy,Purdy is playing well and not making mistakes. The Niners defense
has shown a crack or two in recent weeks but being a playoff game I think they revert to form as the best in the league. Too much talent thrown at The Seahawks D...

San Francisco- 37
Seattle- 20

Yeah, homerism aside, just don't see anything less for the 49ers than a double digit win. They are just so much better

Some 49er fans seem confident this game will be a walk in the park. :-) As a Hawks homer it wouldn't shock me to see a dominant 49er win as they are clearly the better team.

San Fran has SB aspirations and Seattle is happy to be in the dance in a rebuild, or at least transition, year.

Week 15 game matchup between these squads was a 21 to 13 win for San Fran in Seattle. Note entirely clear of any specific trends on the 49er side since that game. However, Seattle's defense has been a lot more opportunistic since then, and the run game has improved dramatically over the last 10 quarters. On the con side, Geno has become more prone to INTs in the latter half of the season. If Seattle's run game and D play can stay on script (and they don't turn the ball over), this can be a competitive game. Lot of ifs, but 10 points is a pretty big spread. QB play from each respective team may factor into the game more than some people are perceiving.

Seems the #2 seed would get an extra days rest and play Monday instead of a short week on Saturday. The Bucs don't deserve a Prime time Monday night game, but I guess that's the Tom Brady effect.

For the record, I don't expect a blowout. I can see a 27-23 nail biter, but at the same time I can see the Niners covering with something like 38-17.

Win or go home. It's real now.

I prefer the Saturday game. Both teams played Sunday, so no advantage or disadvantage there. After they win Saturday, they will have at least an extra day for round 2

Monday would seem the worst game to have since you would have to have a shorter week in round 2

I expect a double digit 49ers win. I can't believe I actually think a team lead by Mr. Irrelevant is going to the Super Bowl, but that is the way I see it. Shanahan is underrated, and tip of the cap to Brian Griese.

I think Seattle will keep it close for 3 quarters, but then the 49ers will pull away in the 4th to win by double digits.

Seahawks keep it closer than people think. San Fran secondary is suspect.

49ers - 31
Seahwaks - 26
Seattle has 1 TD in two games against SF, which came in the last 90 seconds of the game. Guess the secondary hasn't been too suspect against Seattle this year

Great. Because everybody who disagrees with a true blue homer gets a laugh face. Be better. Do better.

And your secondary sucks. Ask AJ Green how tough they are. And that was AJ Green. And Stidham shredded you guys. Laugh now dude.

BUt HUfaNga!!!!
Interesting responses after telling one to “Be better. Do better.” The Green play was a fluke. I have no idea what the hell happened against Stidham that day. (An off day?) As a silver lining I was happy to see the offense keep pace in a game where they were actually needed. Even if against the Raiders… Metcalf, while talented, is no Adams. I used to dread having to face the Seahawks when Russ was at the helm.

On to this game. This SF team seems different this year and it’s not just from the emergence of Purdy and the addition of CMC. I used to worry about getting a lead and Shanahan pumping the brakes on the offense to try and squeak out a victory instead of keeping his foot on the pedal. Hopefully he’s over that. They have scored 30+ pts in 7 out of the 10 games during their win streak. The atmosphere will be awesome and the stars will be hungry to put on a show. Two TDs for CMC and two sacks for Bosa.

SF 34 - SEA 17

Yes, the best defense in the NFL has a secondary that "sucks"

AJ Green made a great play on a jump ball. Happens. They had a bad defensive game against the Raiders against a QB and team they underestimated. Demeco Ryans came out and said there were several people playing "hero ball" and going off script. Easily fixable.

Sorry Niners fans.
So, a team that has scored between 33-38 points 5 of 6 games since Purdy took over and scored 21 against Seattle in a Thurdays night game (short week) when Purdy was playing with injured ribs, which is pretty serious for a QB throwing the ball is now going to be esssenially shut down by a bad defense?

Could happen I guess, but probably not

Niners roll 31-10

Well, and how much footage and film was actually available of Stidham? Not the first nor the last back-up QB to come out guns a blazin' only to fall back to earth once DCs have footage and film.

But then again, maybe Stidham is the next Tom Brady and we (THE ROYAL WE) were all sleeping on him this whole time.

Right there with you. IMO, this is the easiest wager of the weekend. I might even alt-line this one for juicy odds.

Worst thread and worst fans on the board, by far. Call up Drummer and give him the status report. You guys have earned it. I've said it once and said it again. Aside from HSG, you can all Violent Femmes into the air.

Shhhhhh! Mention his name and he will probably show up and put us all to sleep with his condescending boring rants.

And let's all relax. It's playoff time - trash will be talked, and crow will be eaten. It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Funny thing is, a majority of 49er fans that post on forums seem to be negative about the team. Looking for why they will lose and sometimes seeming happy about it when they do, so they can thump their chests and say "see".

Anyway, unlike last year when I thought they would be bounced by Dallas in the first round and then thought they would definitely be bounced by GB in round 2 despite having success against GB in the immediate past, I am very confident they handle Seatlle fairly easily.

Please god no

Felipe Alou's fault

The 49ers offense leads the NFL in Yards After Catch this season.

The Seahawks’ defense gives up the second-most Yards After Catch this season.

Interesting.

Q: Who was the last rookie QB to win a playoff game?

A: Russell Wilson in 2012.

Brock's turn Saturday. Full circle.

49ers final injury report vs. Seahawks via Kyle Shanahan:

Out:
QB Jimmy Garoppolo (foot)
CB Ambry Thomas (ankle)

Everyone else has been fully cleared to play, including G Aaron Banks, LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles and LB Dre Greenlaw.

The Seahawks final injury report:

Questionable:
RG Phil Haynes (ankle)
RB DeeJay Dallas (ankle/quad)
CB Xavier Crawford (hamstring)
DE Shelby Harris (knee)

No designations for RB Ken Walker III or S Ryan Neal, so they're good to go.

Per KNBR:

Weather Undrground predicts a 92 percent chance of precipitation or more from 7 a.m. through 6 p.m. in Santa Clara on Saturday with at least 10-plus mile per hour winds, and heavy gusts throughout.

AccuWeather offers a 98 percent chance of precipitation (and 1.30 inches of rain) during the day with winds around 14 MPH and gusts up to 29 MPH, with a “significant risk of power outages and flooding.”

The Weather Channel has a 100 percent chance of rain, which “may reach an inch,” with winds ranging between 10-15 MPH.

I'm a Niners fan - since childhood Rock. I rarely post in 49ers threads, but I DID think the sky was falling when Lance got hurt. Glad to be wrong. (If Jimmy was healthy, I would have been right I think.)

Not sure I've watched any of Seattle all year but how did Geno go from crap to crap and not playing to mediocre/decent at 32? Not the typical career progression.

Perhaps for some of the same reasons that Wilson went from future HOFr (under that system) to one of the worst QBs in the league in Denver.

Got to give Carroll some credit but Geno has just matured I think, is in a good spot, and has a great attitude now.

He was pretty decent last year as well filling in for Russ when he was out.

The guy throws a great looking ball. Tight spiral and can get it on people pretty fast. Also moves well.

I hope it rains like crazy down there tomorrow. Would help be an equalizer.

Pete Carroll Hawks teams have treated the Niners like a busted rental car but the Niners have the much better squad this year.

He had some raw deals in the past too. Happy for him. Could have easily given up but he stayed with it and was prepared when given a chance.

The demise of Russ is one the most perplexing things I have ever seen in sports.

Regarding Russ it really is. It doesn’t really make sense so maybe next year he turns it around. The best years are over though.

People are forgetting that while Geno's a vet, its his first playoff start as well.

Unfortunately for SF, the weather is gonna keep a lot of fans home which is gonna affect the home field advantage. Theres a lot of flooding in the area and tickets are cheap on stubhub right now...the cheapest get-in tickets are just $76. Seventy six dollars!!! That's insane.

I know a few folks flying down to go they are bringing rain jackets and calling it good.
