#SFB14 - Live Drafts (1 Viewer)

With the trend more and more towards either zero RB or hero RB or avoiding dead zone RBs, the beginning of drafts have evolved these last few years and so I am leaning towards anchor RB/elite TE in many formats. Big assumption being I will find WRs later.

The 4th/5th/6th round is where I think some of the best WR values are. And after each of my picks in this range, they've gone on huge WR runs around me.

Currently up to:

Lamb
Dak
Kincaid
Jacobs
Goff
D Smith
Pickens
I could have had Jacobs. I don't like Dillon still there for GL carries and the rookie doing real well. It seems he went about the same round in mine. I was thinking it's gotta be a round later.
I wanted Goff
Maybe I'll be wrong, but my thinking:

Dillon was an absolute disaster last year. He only managed 2 TD's all of last year. I think they'd like for Lloyd to outperform him and be the #2.

As far as Lloyd: I think the plan would/should be to run Jacobs into the ground this year. They did his deal such that they could get out of it after 1 year. The offense is good enough to compete for a superbowl. I would think most of the time, they're wanting to rely on the veteran/former pro-bowler. And keep the wear and tear off Lloyd for much of this year.

Obviously 2023 was a mess of a year between the holdout, injuries, Raiders in general. In 2022, he was the #4 overall scoring player (using current scoring settings).
I get this pecking order and have no issue with it. My prob is a rookie they adore barely playing because of a contract to a back that underperformed/Jacobs.
I thought they were done w Dillon and it's quite surprising he re-signed. Everyone is talking Jacobs $ but why give Dillon money if not for short yardage? I don't think it's fair to point to $ for logic on one and not the other.

Please understand I'm not certain of a darn thing here and zero soapbox. I just wanted to bump Jacobs a round for my nerves

If the new kickoff rules get teams not booting it out of the end zone and the leading kick returners get 50+ returns, the teams that hit on returners are going to have a huge advantage, especially if the returner has decent regular game stats. Both Shaheed and Mims can have over 1000 yards returning which gives them 200 points before their receiving points. In such a huge contest I think if you ignore return yardage (and the new kickoff rules cause a rise in returns) you cannot have a chance to win. Especially with scoring now being just .5 ppr.

Just to clarify

RB's/QB's/K's are 0.5 PPR
WR are 1PPR
TE 1.5 PPR.

I agree that hitting on the returners will be a huge advantage. I worry that a lot of us are going to be wrong on who those are. I like Shaheed in standard leagues because I think he could have 1,000 yards receiving. But if he does take that step forward, there's a chance they take him out of the kick/punt returner role. And I know a lot of people say it's less risk of injury and teams may use their star players more. Maybe. But historically, teams have shied away from that.

I think He's an amazing pick at the right price. But with some people taking him 1st, 2nd, 4th round, etc.--it's a little too much.

I'll take my shots on Reed/Mims and others later.

Thanks for clarification -- I did see the TE adding 1, but overlooked the WR adding .5 to the general .5.

Looking at the SFB14 scoring with last year's statistics, I still think non-returner WR is getting over drafted. Call me crazy, but I'd rather have Jason Tucker than DK Metcalf based on where you can get them. I love Aiyuk and he had a great year last year, but he put up 272 versus Tucker's 275. With PAT being 3.3, kickers on the high scoring teams are going to be in that 250-280 range, pretty good flex players drafted in the last few rounds. Very cool scoring that creates many paths to a good team (or a dumpster fire)

add Daniel Jones and Jameson Williams and my starting lineup card is full*. Halfway through.

*I'm on MFL - you don't have to use a kicker AND you can use multiple kickers. It's wildly different than the Sleeper settings, same tourney though.

I drafted Jake Bates in the 13th round amidst a kicker run I started with Tucker.
In this scoring format he's as high risk high reward as anyone.
The Lions offense.
Yeah competition with two veteran kickers but they don't kick sixty yard FGs with regularity so I've got confidence he'll win.
It's a nice anecdote for nerves or whatnot that he played in that stadium.
It's a bust if he's cut but I'm covered w Tucker and I really think this is a good FF pick

I'm struggling with the return yardage thoughts.
I often think I don't want that guy with like five catches on the year.
Antonio Gibson was my thought but got sniped.
I've done nothing and probably need to get over it and draft one soon

I am on MFL. My picks in rounds 13 and 14 are most likely going to be 2 of Aubrey, Tucker, Sanders, and Moody. All on top offenses and going to most likely have about 80 successful kicks between PAT and FG. Projecting to be 260-280 points and not likely to get hurt. Based on current scoring this would place them right around #12QB, #12RB, and #12WR. Seems like good flex value for these rounds.

Interesting you had a kicker run, maybe I won't get my multiple kickers.

I have Shaheed, Mims, and Gipson and my concern is they may be victims of their own success. If they are breaking long returns, I can see teams just blasting it out of the end zone and saying start at the 30 yard line.

I got great WRs otherwise I'd have definitely gone with Mims but I'm especially concerned he and Shaheed will be spared injury and not return as much.
I do have Gipson on my short list. I think I can wait. When did he go?
My waiting thoughts just bring me back to minimizing their value (scoring system disagrees) in traditional FF and thinking of few catches.

Rodgers, Levis

Chubb, Roschon, Estime, Patterson, Chestnut

CeeDee, Jefferson, Garrett Wilson, Davante, McLaurin, Hopkins, Jeudy, Bateman, Turpin

Kittle, Hockenson, Conklin

Tucker, Bates, McPherson

Got five guys (*) with return yard potential. If Shaheed and Mims get the return yards and also decent receiving yards I think they will be top WRs. Right after I posted about drafting kickers one team proceed to take 4 kickers in a row. On MFL so can flex the kickers. Happy with the team in mid-July, we see how it looks comes September.

Got away from this Thread unintentionally, due to having to a spur-of-the-moment decision to head north from DC area for a culinary conference from 07/10-13. Brought my other half with me, and we took the long way home, via my old stomping grounds (State College, Pa), arriving home late Monday 07/15. My other half was half-dead ( I can be a challenge to keep up with when I get on a tear), and a visit to an Urgent Care center on Tuesday AM revealed she'd picked up Bronchitis and Strep, which I avoided, but picked up a nasty viral cold that knocked me out for the better part of the week.

All the while, kept on drafting, which wrapped up in the afternoon Saturday 07/20.

When last updated, I had made the questionable decision to pass on low-hanging fruit Burrow in the 5th (as my QB1 and QB13 overall), for Mixon as my RB3, but set me up for predation as the last Team to not have a QB1, and, as expected, the vultures had immediately started digging in.

After 5.06:

Bijan/Jacobs/Mixon
LaPorta/Kincaid

Burrow was immediately selected after I passed, of course, by my neighbor who had just taken Dak in the 4th as his QB1/QB11overall. This was followed by the Daniels, Mahomes and Allen owners all taking their 2nd QB's, removing Lawrence, Goff and Tua from the Board. Goff had been my planned target to lead my QB platoon. Unfortunate, but I'd left myself open to it, and the secondary objective of passing on Burrow was seeing what might fall my way if other Managers got vindictive. Well, I did get something for my trouble, as Devonta Smith fell back to me at 6.07. I passed on DWatson and Justin Herbert to take Smith as my WR1/22overall, and counted myself lucky. Those 2 went of course, but no other QB, until it came back to me at 7.06, where I selected Matt Stafford as my QB1/QB19overall. My original plan had been to platoon Goff/Stafford and 1 other young upside QB, so I'm sort of still working from framework to some degree.

Hit WR hard, 4 of the next 5 Rounds, along with the young upside guy I'd originally planned as my QB3, now my QB2, and drafted maybe a few rounds early so as not to lose him.

After 12.07:

Stafford/Levis
Bijan/Jacobs/Mixon
DvSmith/Godwin/Hollywood/DHopkins/BCooks
LaPorta/Kincaid

Two moves I probably should have made, in retrospect: could have had Amari Cooper over Godwin, and Diontae Johnson where I took Hopkins, and maybe still landed Hopkins, Levis and Cooks.

Here's my 22:

Stafford/Levis
Bijan/Jacobs/Mixon/Gibson/Vidal/Dobbins/DPierce
DvSmith/Godwin/Hollywood/DHopkins/BCooks/Wicks/DmRobinson/JBurton/Turpin
LaPorta/Kincaid/Musgrave
Fairbairn

QB: Wasn't able to execute Goff/Stafford/Levis, which was my original cheap QB platoon plan, but I'll find a way around that.
RB: Would have liked to land Allgeier, but Gibson may make for a nice consolation prize. Will see what happens with Vidal/Dobbins, and move accordingly. DPierce a priority flyer, if I'd picked Herbert where I took Vidal, I'm pretty sure I could have landed Vidal in the next round. Really would like to have had Herbert going into preseason.
WR: Already went over what could have been, like Wicks as the cheapest piece of GB/Love, Robinson for Stafford, upside Burton and Turpin's returner potential
TE: Musgrave gives me another upside piece of Packers pass offense, which I wanted.
PK: Fairbairn was the cheapest of what I consider 'premium' kickers.

Ultimately landed pieces of Mahomes (Hollywood), Hurts (DvSmith), Allen (Kincaid), Dak (Cooks), Burrow (Burton), and Love (Wicks, Musgrave) along with some toys for Stafford/Levis (DmRobinson/Hopkins). Pieces of Stroud too expensive. LaPorta, while being of standalone premium TE value, was also tied into my original QB plan (Goff), which I wasn't able to pull off.

Looking forward to hearing from others, how your drafts played out, squads going into the Season, and discussing things in this Thread, as the Season progresses.

Good luck, fellas!

lost fairly badly in week 1 but things are looking up. I just picked these players up off waivers:

Trevor Lawrence
Keenan Allen
Puka Nacua

My week 2 opponent dropped these players for Malik Willis, Alec Pierce and DeAndre Carter respectively.

2024 SFB Scoring System might have gone a little overboard, weighting for 'Kickoff and Punt Return Yards'.

Overall leading scorer for week 1: Raheem Blackshear, RB Panthers, on the strength of 204 kickoff return yards...

5th scorer, overall: my very own 22.07 pick, WR91 Kavontae Turpin, WR Cowboys, with 96 punt return yards, and a punt return TD, + 34 kickoff return yards.

Pro: Off to a good start (2-0 last week) and sitting at 202 for this week with Bijan still to go.
Con: My best QB was Tua and all I have now is Justin Fields, Russel Wilson, Jacoby Brissett.
(Time to figure out how much to bid for Skylar) :x

How's everybody doing?

I finished the regular season 15-8/183.7 avg. points, good enough to make the post-season bracket, and have survived the firsts playoff cut, from 2000 to 1500 Teams.

Week 13 will cut the field from 1500 to 1000.

Hope all the Thread regulars and everyone else participating in SFB14 is having a great Season!

Scott Fishbowl begins today. Their position less lineup is kinda meh to me so these drafts will be all over the place

Start 11 guys

2 superflex (QB, RB, WR, TE)
9 flex (RB, WR, TE)

So you could start 11 WR's and nothing else if you wanted to do such a thing
