Shannon Sharpe on Belichick (1 Viewer)

I'm 100% positive this has already been talked about, but I don't want to have to try and dig it up, so I'll ask here. Did you see where Sharpe said, and I paraphrase, "That's why you root against the Patriots, because of Bill Belichick". Basically saying he should have come out for the losing coach interview, but chose not to because he lost and took his ball and went home.

I'm not BB's biggest fan but Shannon needs to stop being all butt-hurt because BB didn't talk to Steve Tasker. He did his presser.

BB is a D bag, just as arrogant as he was before but cant win the big one anymore. Give the interview, stop being a jerk.

Gonna play Devils advocate a bit--That's a hell of a stretch, no? How many teams would like to choke like that and still have 3 rings? My guess would be 31.

Ahhh, I'm just having fun. I think somebody ought to bring it up to him.

Yeah, I saw it in about 4 threads

You guys want to know what he would have said in the interview even if he'd given it? Guarantee I can give you his exact answers.

I love Shannon's Candor and straight-forwardness. And I agree that Belichick should just do the interview, just because it is kind of a norm expected event after a game. But with that being said, I don't think Belichick deserves to be blasted. After the game, he had a long moment with Harbaugh and they obviously had some good discussion there. That's the most he can give to the people that matter. Anything he says in a presser is just the same old thing every coach says...all the cliches and chatter that just occupies time for those of us in the peanut gallery.Jim Harbaugh didn't give an interview after he lost last year to Bradshaw. He was consistent and didn't give one to him this year either. So, if its ok for one, then to me it is ok for the others. This is a BIG moment and there is a lot of emotion going on. If the coach, in their opinion, isn't adding anything to the moment, then maybe (not sure, but just thinking) it is ok to say "Just go on and talk to the people that have things to say...I don't."As far as people wondering if Belichick has lost it or is bitter or can't win the big games anymore. NFL coaching is amazingly stressful. You don't see many guys last 12+ years like he has in one spot. And to say "he has lost all these big games" tells you something you might not be focussing on: HE IS GETTING HIS TEAM TO THE BIG GAMES EVERY YEAR. What's the old saying? Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. Plus, its not like he is a failure. He has 3 championships and has played for more. No One wins EVERY year.I'm willing to bet that if he became a free agent tomorrow, there would be about 28 teams that couldn't jettison their HC quick enough to make room for him if he would come to them so that tells me all I need to know. He is a great coach, he is a respected coach among his peers, and usually when you are VERY good, you are polarizing; people love you or hate you and we clearly see that in Belichick.

All these tears.
He has nothing to cry about.
Then why is he? And why are you?
You sound like a dude defending his girlfriend. Give it up. He has a losing record without Brady and he's a poor sport. This clown found a golden egg in Brady so he looks like a genius. I guarantee he retires when Brady does.
What does that have to do with what I said, or this terrible thread?

I like how the guy with Bill Belichick avatar captioned with the phrase "Run It Up" is defending Belichick's sportsmanship and quiet personal gracefulness.

I haven't even made a case for him in this thread, I have in the other thread - the one made before this one. Its not complex, he doesn't owe anything to any other franchise. Call it what you will. You say its classless, I ask why and the response is because its what everyone else does. Great, good talk.

All these tears.
 are you in the right thread?
Is there another thread full of people crying about something that doesn't matter? Besides the other thread on this exact topic of course.
who's crying? BB's poor sportsmanship is well documented. Most of the people in here seem to be piling on, not really crying.
Oh is it? I was under the impression that besides being a less than graceful loser (according to the people who are typically losing to him) and spygate which was a league-wide problem he was a relatively classy guy. Always gives credit to the other team, praises good play and is vocal about his and his teams own short comings. Who gives a #### if he doesn't do a post game interview, he did the presser, its the same thing as with Cutler, a bunch of people don't like his personality and turn it into something personal, when in reality Cutler and BB give zero ####s about you or your opinions.I really don't see how this isn't just a bunch of crying about something that is irrelevant.

I just don't get it. Are people just realizing what this guy is like? He pretty much despises the media. He despises them almost the same amount when he wins than when he loses. This has been going on for over a decade. He gives a weekly interview on WEEI, these guys are basically professional Patriot ball washers. They rarely ask him anything close to a difficult question - he still gives them crap for the most part. He's a little more affable, he is actually pretty funny sometimes, but when it comes to the game it's "play better, coach better" and "we didn't do enough on offense, defense, or special teams" over and over. They asked him about Talib going out, if that had a big impact on the game, and his answer was something like "whenever you lose a player, you have to adjust. Injuries happen in the National Football League."It's probably just time to get over it. Poke at him all you want when he loses, God knows he's got it coming to him, but acting surprised that he's not giving an interview is a little weird.

Oh is it?
definitely, and it's not all media relations as the rest of your post intimates. Super Bowl exit 2008, Mangini, the ref incident after NE lost to Balt earlier in the year, etc....

Shannon just called BB out on it. Not sure how that's construed as crying.

I'm probably in the minority, but I like the fact that he doesn't like the media or play the BS game. Frankly, it's refreshing.
