Shark Pool Mock Draft 2011 - 4 Rounds (1 Viewer)

The Tennessee Titans select CB Aaron Williams out of Texas.

The Titans almost went with an upgrade to their aging linebacking corps, but couldn't pass up a premier CB who should have gone in the first round. Williams, Finnegan and Verner, who impressed last year...give the Titans a very good and young cornerback group. The return of Derrick Morgan, their impressive DE who missed most of the 2010 season with an injury could allow this defense to take a big step forward.

So far the draft has gone excellent for this team, but there are still plenty of holes.

Pick #38 (2.06) - Marcus Cannon, OG/OT - TCU

I'm going on the assumption that they're going to sign a veteran QB. Their entire interior offensive line are free agents. Cannon can play either guard or tackle and is the road grader type that I think Whiz is looking for.
Not bad.

Linebacker or defensive tackle.
I almost went linebacker. It's certainly a possibility. I don't really think Williams will be here at this spot. The LB out of Illinois was my second choice, but the Titans aren't big on drafting LB's in early rounds. Keith Bulluck is the only one I can think of in years. Maybe that will change under the new regime. But this organization loves drafting CB's.

I don't think Baldwin would be the 3rd WR off the board.
I considered Torry Smith, but I LOVE the fact that Baldwin has been working with Fitzgerald and Darelle Revis the past couple of weeks. We all know that WRs benefit greatly from attending Fitz's camp every year, so the fact that he is getting this personal attention from the NFLs best CB and WR (arguably) before he is even drafted speaks volumes to me.I just love his size and the connection to Fitz above all.
I didn't hear about this. Speaks volumes. If the kid wants to play (see Fairley), he's got good physical tools.

With the 40th pick of the draft the Dallas Cowboys select S Rahim Moore, UCLA

This is a no-brainer at this point in the draft for me. Free safety, as I mentioned in the first round, constitutes by far the greatest need as Alan Ball was just atrocious last year. Rahim Moore is the top-rated free safety in the draft and will be an automatic upgrade for the Cowboys and will hopefully shore up a position that has been a weak link for Dallas since the days of Darren Woodson.

He might be the highest rated safety, but that doesn't make him a 2nd round safety.
What will the Titans do? They took Gabbert in the 1st.
Aaron Williams whom many have ranked higher than Smith & Harris would be a step in the right direction in curing their horrible pass D.
His arrow is pointing down. A lot of teams don't like what they've seen on tape.
Is the arrow red?
Mmmm. More orangish I think.

Here is the article for whoever did not see it:Jonathan Baldwin benefits from work with Revis, Fitzgerald

Glad this is a mock and not the real draft. I'll be ticked if Moore goes at 40. While he's the top rated FS, he doesnt rate that high. The guy ran a 4.6. Need to run faster than that to be a center fielder. Plus, what rookie will have the knowledge to make defebsive backfield calls? What rookie has the savvy to adequately provide deep help, something Ball was not able to do? This team needs a vet FS. A guy who knows offenses. A guy who can read pass patterns and let Jenkins know what's coming. The stuff Ken Hamlin did when the defense was #2 in the NFL.

Meanwhile, a top NT in Marvin Austin sits on the board. Dallas needs DL. An explosive big man would definitely fill a need.

The top center is available in Wisnewski. Dallas needs a lot more than an OT to get the line adequate again. A versatile OL in Danny Watkins is available. He's the most ready NFL guard acconding to many.

I hate the Moore pick. Way too many other spots where value is available to reach for a guy who really doesnt have the skill set/abilities they need.

I was actually hoping he would slip to the Rams 2nd round pick but I would plan on him being a safety. Thats been the buzz around him lately that he will not be a corner in the pros. Nice pick but I dont know if you are putting him in the right spot (say the experts)

With the 41st pick the Saints select Tandon Doss WR Indiana

Keeping the face of the franchise smiling.

Possesses above-average measurables along with good top-end speed for his size. Savvy within his stem, does a great job of setting up defenders with tempo and head and shoulder fakes. Fluid athlete for size and does a nice getting in and out of breaks. Can uncover against zone coverage and shows the awareness to set up defenders to create more area within the soft spots. Wades through traffic well. Refined with double moves and does a nice job of selling initial fake. Appears to have big, natural and strong hands that swallow the ball. Consistently catches the ball away from frame. Has the body control to open up and make catch outside of strike zone. Tracks the deep ball well and doesn't extend arms until last second. Could time leaps a bit better in jump ball situations. Possesses deceiving top-end speed and flashes ability to track the ball vertically. Consistently maximizes yards after the catch. Displays a quick initial burst and is a no non-sense runner that trusts his speed and immediately gets vertical. Does not have elite elusiveness but can make defender miss in space also shows ability to ruin defenders angles if provided a seam. Shows no fear working the middle of the field. Extremely aggressive attacking the ball in the air. Shows the focus to secure the ball in traffic while absorbing a hit. Gives good effort as a run blocker but could use some refining with technique.

Is anyone want to move up to the 15th pick in the 2nd round?

Looking to acquire an xtra late 3rd or move up in the 3rd round drastically

If it's not red there's still hope bro.

You'll have to excuse the colt's late pick later on. I have to be gone for awhile, but will be online again at 5:30PM EST.

I need to strategize with Polian. Gotta make sure we get another steal in late 2nd

wow...seems a little early for him? God, he is so slow for a WR. 4.6 at his pro-day, which actually means more like a 4.7. I guess i just don't see it.

The Bills would be interested in moving up if a certain player is still available. We have our early 3rd to deal plus we can always make moves with picks that we aren't selecting in this mock. I know it's not as fun but if the price is right and it makes sense then why not do it. Not sure if moving up is a good idea for the Bills or not seeing that we have so many holes to fill but if the right person is there then I can see Nix pulling the trigger.

Allot of the professional anaylist have Austin slipping into the mid/late second round of the draft, and Wisnewski seen as a 3rd rounder. Being a bears homwe we want both Wisnewski and Austin on our team, and I almost to Austin, but after looking at many draft preditictions and Mock's I didn;t feel he would have been taken this early. Yes he is coming to the draft in NY, but they want second round players there also for the Day 2 show. Both are going to be great players but they probably won't be taken so early in the real draft, but that just my two cents.

4.50 at the combine, better hands than anyone not named AJ Green. I think sometimes people get so caught up looking at athletes (Julio) that they overlook the most important thing on WRs (hands). Wouldn't be surprised to see him sneak into the 1st, this is who I had in mind when I moved up.

Yeah. I don't get that pick at all. I've never seen him ranked in the top 10 WR prospects.
You must not be looking in the right places, I've been seeing him ranked around the 4th best WR.

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=82488&draftyear=2011&genpos=WRHis latest 40 times were about 4.6... I dunno, they have a couple speed WRs that can't really catch in NO, maybe a new slot guy? Like Lance Moore? He's got great hands and this team does pass a lot, I guess we'll see.

I guess I know what you're getting at, but some sites that are free are more reputable than sites that you pay for.I guess scouts inc does the scouting here... he may be a decent 2nd tier WR but he's definitely no consensus WR # 4

But drafting is about talent evaluation, and if you think he's a good fit for your team, then you go with it.

Just don't try and make the case that just because you pay for a Disney product that their content is clearly superior.

The Texans select from Pittsburgh DE/OLB Jabaal Sheard
He's a nice player... but I would have loved to see Ras-I Dowling go here...
Yeah. If you already took Bowers in the 1st, what's the need for another OLB since it's likely that Cushing will play the other side?
I thought they were planning on moving Cushing to one of the Inside spots.
Maybe I'm misremembering. Considering that, I can see Wade making some noise with two good outside pass rushers.

None taken man, and you have a right to. I just think you believe in espn.com more than a lot of others around here, so you're not going to get a ton of cred if you throw that name around.

2.11 - Minnesota Vikings - Stephen Paea, DT Oregon St.

With Pat Williams on his last legs and possibly retiring (his play had been slipping of late anyway), the Vikings need someone to take his place as the run stopping space eater next to Kevin Williams. While the Vikings do have a bit of depth at the position, Paea is more talented than Guion or Kennedy and could help the Vikes defense return to their former fearsome run defensing ways.

Paea was the combine darling who destroyed the bench press record and is in the conversation to be a first rounder - possibly a high one like Alualu was last year. If they Vikings could get him here I think they'd be very happy.

Man I wish they had a 3rd rounder. :kicksrock:

Wide Receiver Specific Traits

Separation Skills 2 Needs some tweaking in a few areas but overall very polished in this area.

Ball Skills 1 Appears to have big, natural and strong hands that swallow the ball. Consistently catches the ball away from frame. Has the body control to open up and make catch outside of strike zone. Tracks the deep ball well and doesn't extend arms until last second. Could time leaps a bit better in jump ball situations.

Big play ability 2 Possesses deceiving top-end speed and flashes ability to track the ball vertically. Consistently maximizes yards after the catch. Displays a quick initial burst and is a no non-sense runner that trusts his speed and immediately gets vertical. Does not have elite elusiveness but can make defender miss in space also shows ability to ruin defenders angles if provided a seam.

Competitiveness/ Toughness 2 Shows no fear working the middle of the field. Extremely aggressive attacking the ball in the air. Shows the focus to secure the ball in traffic while absorbing a hit. Gives good effort as a run blocker but could use some refining with technique.

It's true that they have him ranked as the #4 WR.

But it also lists his Speed as "good top end speed for his size." I think think this is an incorrect assessment.

I don't know who does these rankings adrenaline... and I dunno how much you should be relying on them bro.
Anyone can google a free site & take their word for it I guess. ;)

Pretty sure if you look at where this started it was google masters claiming their content was superior. :lmao: No harm intended just defending my pick.
None taken man, and you have a right to. I just think you believe in espn.com more than a lot of others around here, so you're not going to get a ton of cred if you throw that name around.
Take a look at this now:http://www.profootballweekly.com/2011/04/06/pfws-exclusive-draft-value-chart-4

That'll give you an idea of how far apart people are on this one player.

Who to believe? :D

Cushing and Ryans will both play inside. Sheard will play outside, Bowers will likly play the line but could play outside as well.

That's a beast front 7. And a beast front 7 can sometimes mask a weak secondary. Go get Nnamdi and you're defense is formidable.
