Shark Pool mock draft - three rounds. Draft started (1 Viewer)

Tampa Bay select:

QB Andre Woodson, Kentucky

Jon loves Qbs and he couldn't be any happier that he is on the board. Another playmaker to add to the overhaul of the offense and a guy that can learn under Garcia.

I have to say I would be very happy with Mendenhall and Manningham as the first 2 picks for the Cowboys. After you factor in that they have also aquired a first round pick next year I am thrilled. What would the Cowboys have to give up for Pac-Man Jones?

I knew this pick was coming, which is why I was able to prepare this :Pittsburgh selects Lawrence Jackson, DE, USCWas going to go line again here, but the guy I'm eyeing will quite possibly still be around in round 3, so the defensive renaissance continues. Tomlin showed last year by drafting Woodley and Timmons, that he was looking for athletic, versatile defensive players that can fit in either a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme and Jackson fits the bill. The guy has the size, speed, and production to warrant a high second-round pick and could be a second straight round 2 steal for the Steelers. He can play 3-4 DE, as he is tough against the run, while not an amazing pass rusher. He can play 4-3 DE with some more coaching on his pass-rushing moves, he could add 20 pounds to his 6' 5" frame and play 4-3 DT, and he has the athleticism to potentially be an Adalius Thomas-like chameleon.Tennessee selects Andre Caldwell, WR, FloridaCaldwell is a little raw, but has good size and terrific speed and is maybe the only WR left on the board that has a chance to become a #1 in the NFL with time and coaching. Considered a TE here (John Carlson) as well.

Seattle selects John Carlson TE Notre Dame

This is Seattle's #1 need area and Carlson is a guy who has slipped due to his supporting cast in 2007. Not as good a blocker as Bennett but a better fit for Seattle's WCO.

Got heavy consideration after Fred Davis was sniped from the Vikes, but I just couldn't do it.

So I suspect we'll try and push through as many picks as possible tonight but the time limit is waived. Do we pick up on Thursday morning with the time limit? Say 10 a.m. eastern time.

I'll probably be out until morning. I am scheduled to pick for Cleveland, but feel free to go ahead and pick if it gets to that point and others are waiting.
Thoughts?
Do we have guys waiting to make picks here?
It kinda looks like it. I have an idea for a pick.
Well it's either pick or we wait till the A.M. your call. I'll check in tonight as well.

I'd really like to get this done today if possible. I've totally blown today on this thing. I can't afford another day on it. I was actually going to suggest we call this thing after 2 rounds.

Well that sucks for those of us who traded to add a 3rd rounder.
We'll do three for sure. If someone wants to drop out, just let me know and we'll take over the final round.I'm out until 7:30/8:00.

I'll be back in about an hour to see if the Giants are up or if I have any offers for the pick. I figure we should get at least halfway through round 3 tonight if people are around.

Miami selects...

Justin King - CB - Penn St.

Only been playing CB for the last 2 years... was a WR before that so he's got hands. Has a ton of upside... could be great. I've seen things that say he could break into the 4.2's at the combine.

I'll make my 4.1 too.

I don't see FantasyTrader around so I'll keep this rolling...

With the 58th pick in the 2008 NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select DE Chris Ellis, Virginia Tech.

One of the Jaguars biggest weakness is the ability to put pressure on the QB. They hope to rectify that with the addition of Chris Ellis. He could provide an immediate impact.

Colts wanted a DE and had Ellis ready, but he was stolen.. so:

Indy selects.. Xavier Adibi OLB

Too much talent to pass up right here, some mocks have him in the lower 1st-upper 2nd.. RB's also got consideration

Gotta be careful here. As far as I know we are making picks if the owner is available. Otherwise if stalled we are resuming the draft at 10 a.m.

I assumed he was gone. I hope I didn't wreck this thing.

Gee whiz, I've been eyeing this thing all day - take a 1/2 hour to drive home from work and my pick has been made. That's kind of anti-climactic. It was beyond my 30 minutes though.

What was your pick? If it was different make it and we'll adjust. Seeing Ellis was the first choice of the guy below you.

What's your pick? Is it someone that hasn't been picked that we can switch in?We shouldn't be skipping over anyone right now. Let's put the brakes on this thing until FantasyTrader checks back.

Green Bay Packers pick Thomas DeCoud, S, Cal.

Pack really could use depth at the very least at the Safety spot. Is a great special teams player and has experience at CB.

WIth the 61st pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select:

Trae WIlliams, CB South Florida

Dallas needs a CB who can play man effectively. Pairing up this guy with Newman will allow Dallas all kinds of options for blitz packages. This past year, Dallas didnt have the CBs to play man much. They played almost entirely in zone. A guy like Williams will allow that to change in 2008.

I could take over for Ridgelake if he needs help in the third round.
pgreen, I would like that very much. I really have to focus on work tomorrow. I didn't realize just how time consuming doing this would be. That said, its been a hell of a lot of fun. And rather educational on how the draft is likely to play out.

Agreed. I can't imagine how it feels for the real GMs when players are sniped from them.

Have you ever heard the story that was released about the Buffalo Bills so anxious/nervous/excited about when it was close to thier turn to select Trent Edwards?I can't find the story, but it was great to hear how nervous they were that someone was going to take the one player they wanted so badly.

No kidding, or when you're sitting on the clock with 3 players you like fairly equally. I was in that situation when I mistakenly thought Jenkins was available along with Otah and Brohm. Turns out I got the 2 available but paid a good price to get Brohm.

New England Patriots select :

ALI HIGHSMITH, LB - LSU

Going with Ali over other availible LB prospects because of his motor and his versitlity. I feel his skill set compliment the existing Patriot 'backers.

WIth the 63rd pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, theNew York Giants select:

Tavares Gooden, LB, Miami

Thanks for the Highsmith offer, but for some realism I'll take the next LB on my list. I almost went safety here but I didn't see anyone worth it and a lot depends if Gibril is back. LB is a need no matter what. If Strahan leaves and Kiwi needs to move back to DE, its possible the Giants take LBs in both the 1st and 2nd. Plus Mitchell is a FA, and while he is not a stellar LB he is the best we have. I don't know anything about Gooden but Mayock has him rated well.
