Sherlock (1 Viewer)

Just announced it will air in the US on Jan. 19th. The UK broadcast date has not been announced yet, but it will be before that. But I think, whatever day it airs in England, it will be the shortest wait for US audiences.

I am thrilled that there will be a season three but I have no idea how they will plausibly write themselves out of the end of season 2. I fear it will be a serious  moment.

He jumped to his death in broad daylight on a busy street in front of lots of people.
How do you write yourself out of that one?

It may be a  moment, but I expect it will have something to do with

the morgue gal that's hot for him using a cadaver and him being brilliant and tricking Moriarty etc etc.

I think that's it. Memory's hazy about how it ended, but I remember some breadcrumbs were left behind in the final scene from last season that point this way.

of course there's these problems...

Wilson ran up to the body afterwards thus should've seen that it wasn't Sherlock. Plus, you got the whole autopsy, identifying the body, etc.

True, but he got what he was after, rigth? Moriarty dead? Thus when he pops out of the back of a foam line pickup and says "Ta-Da!" he faces (nearly) no consequences. Of course it would be in a flash-back. They won't pick right up where they left off. I don't think.

Technically, they left off after his funeral.

And when did he have time to get the body and bring it up to the roof with him?

Just started watching this show, a real treat, well written, great chemistry, can't get enough of these. Cucumber-patch is perfect as Sherlock.

Good point. My memory failed me there. :D

Why does Cumberbun remind me of that gal from American Horror Story? It's unsettling.

Unsettling, too, is the lack of arguing about books, spoilers, and whether books constitute spoilers in this thread.

Does Mad Sweeney watch this show? If not, he needs to catch up and read the books stat so he can jump into the "how will they write themselves out of this?" conversation.

Good show, though.

I think Homes may have slipped Watkins a forget-me-now

Wife watched these all a month ago. Clever show and great acting. She's hooked on dr who now. Have to try Luther when that's over.

not Wilson

not Watkins

it's Watson

and Watson was knocked nearly unconscious by the guy on the bicycle, and thus had a fuzzy head when he saw the cadaver.

So when did Sherlock have opportunity to get the cadaver to the top of that building?
I guess they could play "The face was destroyed by the fall so we can't recognize it" card but that seems pretty weak for a show where Walton, who already has a keen mind, is constantly being shown the importance of keen observation.

And Sam Walton was awesome as Bingo Gabbert in the Goblin.

Sherlock picked the location for that meeting with Moriarty. He was in league with the lady at the morgue.

Nevertheless, the cadaver isn't on the rooftop. It's Sherlock that jumps. See link for the plausible details.

Nice link.

Benedict comic con video of him trolling Sherlock fans with bleeped out spoilers. Cabbage Go to 42 second to start his part or 2:45 to start the non spoiler spoilers scene reenactment.

Watched these on Netflix and thought it was a mistake that there was only 3 episodes a season. Great show. Can't wait for it to come back.

The problem is that its obvious Sherlock didn't die. Doesn't matter how. So the shock factor is lost. These plot twists are more interesting when you don't know they are coming.

They're working within canon. Sherlock has to fall "to his death" and somewhat implausibly make it out alive when it seems he should be dead. That's the Sherlock story. The interesting part will be how craftily the writers accomplish it.

Finally got around to watching the season 2 finale. Great episode. Obviously baffled by the ending but we'll see what season 3 brings.

Saw Cumberbatch on Kimmel the other day and the women were going insane for him.

Even my wife was saying WTF?

He's hot?

will this be avail on BBC in the US on 1-1-14?

do they show all three episodes back-to-back?

I saw the first two "seasons" after the fact on netflix.

Sherlock is not on BBC-America. US rights are with PBS. It'll be on in late January over 3 weeks into February.

It's the accent. It's always the accent.

Started this a couple days ago. 2 episodes in and I'm hooked, what a great show. Although my wife keeps complaining that he is too similar to House.

Not sure its a problem - they show him at the end of the episode, so whatever shock value was there, was gone by the end of the episode.

Though I suppose what they showed could have been Moriarty in a Sherlock mask

Agreed - I give them credit for showing him at the end of the episode - cuz it's obvious they wouldn;t kill him

Going through my second viewing of this (first for my daughter). They are even better the second time through.

For those that don't know, there is a webisode that has been produced in the build up to season 3. Here is the description and link (7 minute short). I will put the description and link in a spoiler.

The description alone is pretty interesting for those wondering how they intend to write the beginning of season 3.

Sherlock has been gone for two years. But someone isn't quite convinced that he's dead...

First episode is out. A bit sillier than previous episodes in parts, but loved it. So happy it's back. Brilliant job by Cumberbatch portraying Sherlock. Really nails the spirit of the character.

Wtf is the new villain? Can't place a name from the books. A bit sad Moriarty is gone but great start to season 3.

They changed the last name of the villain to make him Danish (or so I think I heard in this interview)

Title is Masterpiece Mystery (10:00 PM PST but check local/regional times), than I saw Sherlock, Season 3: The Empty Hearse, (2014) in the description/plot synopsis field. I initially set series record, but it also set to record a few episodes immediately prior called Masterpiece Classic (Downtown Abbey?), so I went back and cancelled series record, and just manually pre-recorded the 19th episode. My DVR scheduler doesn't go to the 26th yet, so sometime on the 19th or as we get closer, I'll try and add episodes 2 & 3 when they show up (episode 3 first week in February).

Ah I see it now. Thanks.

First two episodes of this season are both excellent. They seem to be having more fun with the show this year.
Agreed—the second episode is as close to a straight-up comedy as they've ever come close to attempting, and they pulled it off nicely.

Can't find Season 3 on local channels, so I took other options. I just have to say,

I'm looking forward to Moriarty being back. In one way or another.

Although, I have to add:

Google glass was the most obvious answer for whatshisname, the next thought that occurred to me is a computer chip implanted in his head. In any case, I don't believe everything was stored in his memory.

Finished Season 3 via online means. Great season overall and now I'm bummed that I have to wait another 1-2 years for Season 4.

Each episode is like a mini movie. Most shows only have 40 mins of actual run time. This has 90. I was confused by the 3 episode seasons at first but it is actually refreshing with this style.

Yeah, good point, each episode is close to a theatrical quality and length movie, so no way to slap out 24 or even 12 of these in a season.

I'll take the quality over quantity.
