Shockey - possible ankle injury? (1 Viewer)

I'm getting this second hand but apparently NFL Access reported that Jeremy Shockey has an ankle injury that may keep him out of Sunday's game vs. Washington. My source is here.

Can anyone confirm this?

You mean the one that he seems to have been born with? (j/k)

It's a lingering injury. He's had it all season and has played through it thus far. I don't see it keeping him out of the game this weekend.

Various reports make it sound like his ankle is/was injured but he is coming back from it.

Published Tue Oct 3 12:35:00 a.m. ET 2006(KFFL) New York Giants TE Jeremy Shockey (ankle) did not take part in either of the team's Bye week practices to help reduce the swelling in his sprained right ankle. He will be limited during practice entering Week 5.
Published Tue Oct 3 12:36:00 a.m. ET 2006(KFFL) New York Giants backup TE Visanthe Shiancoe will see expanded snaps during practice this week while TE Jeremy Shockey (ankle) is limited due to an ankle injury.
Published Tue Oct 3 4:38:00 p.m. ET 2006(Rotoworld) Jeremy Shockey (ankle) will start for the Giants in Week 5 if he's healthy enough to play.Impact: There has been some discussion in the New York papers that Shockey should be benched for his comments about being "out-coached." Shockey returned to practice Tuesday and should be ready to roll against Washington.
Published Tue Oct 3 5:15:00 p.m. ET 2006(KFFL) New York Giants TE Jeremy Shockey (ankle) was able to participate fully in practice Monday, Oct. 2, without a limp or a wrap around his sprained right ankle. If Shockey were unable to play, TE Visanthe Shiancoe would start in his place.

The Giants training camp is up here in Albany and Ive gotten used to seeing him glued to the stationary bike.

He is tough though and plays in games, but rarely seems to practice. This injury has been nagging him since TC and he should be fine by Washington from what I hear.

NJ Star Ledger says he hurt the ankle in the last pre season game and it has substantially limited him thus far. He stayed off it during the bye week and is likely to play. Comin off the rest it is probably the best week to play him - however I would advise Shockey owners to grab an above average #2 TE as if it flares up he will likely miss a few games down the stretch.

He hurt it badly last december(feel free to google this and verify) and also reports where it's bugging him at different points in the spring and summer. It appears as if something that wasn't handled correctly, medically. Otherwise, it seems common sense that the rest would help any injury so I agree with this report. I have Shockey in a number of leagues and am unhappy with his production. At this point, I don't care ankle injury or staying in to block, I've started other TEs. I'm curious if others too have "benched" Shockey(if so for who) and are you also taking the "show me" attitude and waiting for a good game before you'll start him.

Shockey practiced yesterday....Probably won't know for sure until Friday at the earlist

Q: How did Plaxico Burress, Jeremy Shockey, Tim Carter and the other players not at full strength practice?

A: They seemed to do okay. We’ll see how they are tomorrow, but they all practiced and took plenty of snaps.

What is Burress' injury?
I don't recall but he and Carter have been hurt for a few weeks and played each time. I'd imagine Steeler fans would tell ya Plax having an injury to miss practice but still playing in the games is common. I'm not sure how we'll know when he's genuinely hurt to the degree he'll miss time.
