Back in August, the Fantasy Sports Writer's of America Association invited it's 268 members to join a 48-Team Battle Royale. It turned into a 47 team battle because Sig absolutely smoked the rest of us.

I really enjoyed competing against you Bloom. You deserve some recognition for not just winning this league, but dismantling it!

For the record, here was his squad for those interested.

Great job Bloom!

bloom actually isn't human...

"he" is a series of parallel processing supercomputing clusters FBG leases from los alamos and the national weather center, using some proprietary hotrodded bayesian & genetic algorithms for FF optimization, stochastically generating billions of permutations...

the image you see with cec is merely a CGI creation of our attempts to render what we think he WOULD look like if flesh & blood (kind of like HAL's voice in 2001)...

Maybe you should get out more

Congrats Bloom! So how did this league work?
Four 12-Team Divisions. Top four from each division advanced to playoffs, beginning in week 12 and starting with your average pts. per week during the regular season, it was a 5 week TP race among the 16 playoff teams.

The Sigmund Bloom Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 1997. Human decisions are removed from strategic decision-making. Bloom begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug . . .

Actually, none of this is really true. It just so happens that Bloom stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.Congrats, Bloomers

I could also post a few leagues that I was  , but this one was pretty sweet. I have to say I set out to send a message in this league. This kind of Secretariat finish was exactly what I envisioned when I joined it, because it includes the likes of Michael Fabiano (NFL.com), Stephania Bell and Chris Harris (ESPN), Jamey Eisenberg (CBSSports.com), George Winkler (Sporting News), and many other well-respected analysts from many other well-respected sites. I just wanted to represent FBG, show that we are the premier fantasy site. This community is the supercomputer that Bob describes, I'm lucky to be part of it!

This was the only draft that I stayed with my plan completely - Airballed my 2nd round (Braylon) and 5th Round (Edge) picks, but otherwise nailed my top 10 picks. WCOFF format, PPR, start 3 WR + Flex, so going WR early was crucial. The only non WR I took in my first 4 picks was Turner. I got one of the last of the top TEs (gonzo), two from my underrated QB list (Rodgers and Schaub), and was also able to land SMoss and Vjax. The crucial late pick was Slaton.

Thanks for the recognition, this is one of the leagues I focused most on this year.

Congrats Sig! You already know my thoughts on the domination!

I remember looking up the first week of the playoffs, seeing Bloom's total already and saying 'Aw Crap'.

Heckuva job man!

Fun league too - I enjoyed it thoroughly and plan on catching you next year!

You're a big fan of fiveheads?

As a newer FBG supporter...this actually carries some big weight for me. To dominate your industry's own game, great job man! Great team!

Are any of us surprised?

Of course not - you're the man Sig.

And FBG is that far ahead of the rest, it's awesome that you could show that to them all (& their supporters).

POINTS ARE IRRELEVANT but these are all the guys Bloom beat.

It's quite a list.

Congrats Bloom

Also Andrew Garda NFBinLA did very well

Didn't FBG participate in the HAFAX league this year too? 2nd place finish I believe, not too shabby.
Yeah, we were undefeated through the final week of the regular season and lost that final week and the championship game. 2nd place is solid, but we definitely wanted to convert the total points and all-play domination into a championship.

Thanks Bri - I'll take 8th out of 64 any day.

In the interest of full disclosure, I had never done a WCOFF style league before (which is essentially what this was) and talked to Sig before my draft to see if he had any tips.

Not saying his advice put me 8th but it certainly influenced how I approached my draft given the format.

I'm pretty damned happy to place as high as I did and look forward to assaulting Sig next year.

Nice work Sig. What I like the most out of your draft is that you got the guys you're high on. I don't know if this happened to any of you guys before but you are high on certain players all preseason, then you end up drafting and somehow those guys don't end up on your team.

By seeing some of the guys on your team like B. Marshall and Forte, guys I can recall you being very high on it's cool to see you rolling with them and cashing in so to speak.

and look forward to assaulting Sig next year.
I hope the 3 of us can be in the same league-also hope I don't lose power during the draft and get assigned players again but...it'd be fun to all be in the same leaguewhich FFtrader is fantasytrader?

I'm "Perkins" Bri. Finished 5th. I'll take it as well. Very tough league - I think making the playoffs is something to be very proud of.

Definitely - and congrats on that finish as well man. I look forward to it again next summer - should be a hoot. Again.

bloom, the real question is:

did you hang on to win that game you were following during the recap shows?!

Does anyone else not realize FF is luck ? Been doing it for over a decade and in that time I see it's luck ... Congrats SB ...

Sig continues to impress. I have been in 1 league with Sig for 4 years now, and this is the first year he hasn't made the playoffs. Although he hasn't won the championship yet, let it be known, this league has some extremely tough and very savvy owners. And there are NO wild cards. 4 divisions and division winners are the only ones who make the playoffs!! Seeing the level of competition in this experts league and how he completely just blew away the rest of the league is a great feat. Congrats Sig--it is a pleasure to compete with you. :hey:

yeah man, 70 pt lead down to 2? how did it end??
No points for my opponent in overtime, and Corey Graham came through with a good game Monday Night that would have given me the win, but I am still mad at my leaguemates for trying to Bloom me with early congratulations.

I guess some people are luckier than others........
The playoffs are largely luck, which is why you want to get as many teams to the playoffs as possible and let the rest take over. It is not lucky to get 75%-100% of your teams to the playoffs.

:violin: If there wasn't skill involved, you wouldn't have the same owners year after year making playoffs in most leagues. If there wasn't luck involved, the same 1-2 owners would win every year. There is more skill involved than most lucky players will want to admit, and more luck than skilled players ever care to say.Luck is a part of the game and has to be appreciated, else you wouldn't have most average players ever wanting to join. This is also why an amateur is willing to shell out money to join a poker tournament populated with many pros.
