he didn't do it there, but I love the way when he's been offering advice, he drops hints from his past that are just insane/sordid in the most matter-of-fact way.

well... yeah. that seemed pretty obvious to me as well.
I took it to mean that Liz can't find out about Elrich and the whole meltdown - and the joke was Richard just got done banging Liz
but as Alf fans, it's sometimes hard for us to get our heads around the big picture.

I will be very surprised if they were referring to anything else besides the blackmail that Elrich and Richard did to him but the immediate cut to credits is strange there since that typically does indicate something stronger.

hfs... when Richard is trying to convince erlich not to come to the meeting, he tells him they won the tech crunch because of the tech... and repeats slowly"because of the tech" while making the double hand signal for mean jerk time.
I agree, I thought he was referring to the whole Erlich/his wives/Tech Crunch and them blackmailing him on the deal. I think he was alluding to wanting her to believe that he was backing her wanting to do the deal.
ETA: I think trying to make it seem like he and Richard had a fling is reading way, way, way too much into it.
