Skins and Jets (1 Viewer)

LT looks pretty good - ripped off a 43 yard run, another nice gain on a cut. Sanchez not looking sharp. Skins offense is nonexistent.

1st quarter:

A Better Skins QB would have burned Cromartie for a TD.

A Better CB takes Sanchez the other way for 6.

SWEET run by LT. If that were a rookie people would go insane.

Jets Secondary looks shaky. Without Revis the 2 CB's and 1 Safety are all learning a new D. uuugh.

2nd Quarter:

Another sweet run by LT.

Sanchez PICK.....

IMO a better offense beats this Jets defense right now.

not good.

Who started opposite SMoss?
Galloway. I didnt think he would make the team but they keep listing him as a starter and he actually looked ok tonite. Has made about 3 or 4 catches and got behind Cromartie by several steps on a deep one but Grossman was under pressure and missed him badly.Overall tough, physical game. Im just glad the Skins are holding their own and not getting manhandled against one of the most physical teams in the league. Hopefully get out of here without any significant injuries.

What's the story with the Skins RBs? 8 carries for Willie Parker??? Is this just Shanahan back at it?
After the 1st pre-season game Shanny said LJ would start the next week against the Ravens and Parker would start the following week against the Jets. Portis is entrenched as the starter and LJ and Parker are getting their shots to be the primary backup. Neither plays special teams so odds are only one of them makes the team with the 3rd and 4th RBs being younger guys who can also contribute on special teams.Unfortunately for LJ and Parker, the Ravens and Jets are two of the stronger teams against the run and neither has had much room to do much.

I see Holmes has 1 rec for 23 yds.

Has he been in the gmae much or are they trying to figure out what else they have on the roster?

I think Holmes has a solid year when he comes off suspension.

I think he's getting the right coaching/mentoring under Henry Ellard to become a complete WR even if he's not on a pass-happy team.

I'm really reconsidering drafting Shonn Greene at the 12th spot in my upcoming 12team non-ppr league draft. This is our 1st year we are choosing to keep two players and I wanted to build my team around Greene for the future but I am not liking three things:

1) LT looks good and he will have a sizable role in the offense this season

2) I'm fearing that Sanchez will have a regression and the JETS won't get as many opportunities in red zone

3) because the JETS haven't been in the red zone much this preseason, we don't have a clear picture of who will be in during their goal line package

What are you guys thoughts?

Brutal game for the Jets.... Calvin Pace out "a few weeks".....

I might want to bet on Baltimore in week 1. :X

Just my opinion but here it goes.1) I wouldn't worry about LT to much I think he will get a handful of touches and a be a good 3rd down rb. I don't think the Jets are confident that he is a 15 touch guy anymore.2.) I felt Sanchez was horrible last year but that Oline still opened up holes for the running game a lot like Carolina did with Delhomme when he was horrible. I still think with a better Qb the Jets would win the SB this year because Sanchez just isn't that good.3) It's preseason I wouldn't worry a ton about how many times they have been in the redzone.

The Jets O line played pretty badly. Sanchez still looks like a rookie out there. Tempering my expectations at this point. Not paniced, but definitely concerned about that Jets offense. If Sanchez has another 20 INT season... without Revis... gonna be the Hards Knocks curse.

Don't mean to temper your expectations but as a Skins fan I was shocked we hung in this game. I feared your defense would take over the game and would manhandle our new 3-4 defense with the run game. Surprisingly only the latter came to fruition. On top of that we pulled our first string defense midway through the second quarter as well as our first string offense at halftime; whereas, your starters were playing late into the 3rd/early 4th quarter. Going to be a great Hard Knocks this week! In all reality I think this was a down game for the Jets but Galloway beating Cro? This illustrates how important Revis is to this defense.

It was ugly for the Jets, Fact. Sanchez looks bad. The O line doesn't look good. Cro is a fine #2 CB, but if this offense keeps playing like this, Revis means nothing. The Jets won't win a gum ball with a nickle.

LT looks great, SG looks good, but the online has been awful this preseason. I expected some adjustment from replacing Faneca, but the oline looks really out of sync right now. Ferguson, Mangold, and Woody have not played well, but they are too good not to play well. All that said, the playcalling has been very basic, not the typical pulling that they do.

McNight has been terrible so far. He stops as soon as he gets the ball and does some stutter steps instead of running to the hole. Luckily, he looks good as a punt returner.

Sanchez is in mid-season form and that's not a compliment.

Kyle Wilson looks good and David Harris is very active. Jason Taylor, not so much.

Brunell is just brutal. Hire him as a coach already.

I know that the oline will be better. Sanchez eventually. The offense has lots of weapons this year, but how long before it all comes together? LT is going to be involved enough that I would not want to waste a high pick on SG.

D.Thomas will be starting against the Cards. There is speculation that he will be cut, but I SERIOUSLY doubt this. Now Kelly on the other hand...

I said it early in the pre-season before the whole Revis thing.... But, Honestly, even a Jets team that had everything go right, no injuries and Sanchez looking like Joe Montana, the Jets could have been facing 0-3....They face a Ravens team that is years more advanced in their system - Similar Defsense / Better RBThe Pats who look great in preseason and IMO had a QB and WR1 injured last yearA Miami team also with a QB with more experience and a team that swept themIf the Betting lines buy into some of Rex's stuff, I might be looking to bet against them a few games for some $$$$$$...I kinda think Vegas sees what we see now and Pace out is a Blow..... But, I'm curious to see if Baltimore is getting points week 1.This might be worthy of a thread on it's own but, Personally I'm battening down the hatches......If I'm the Jets I'm running the ball almost exclusively and still handling Sanchez like a rook then some play action. The defense needs to hit the QB for the all-new secondary to look ok and they just lost thier #1 Pass Rusher....I probably didn't have as far to go cuz I never claimed Super Bowl or ALL-IN like some but, I'm looking at a team like last year with a LONG way to go that hopefully jells at some point.....I wouldn't normally overreact to preseason but, No Revis, No Pace, and from what we see of the new guys..Uggh.LT is the ONLY brite spot. And Jenks Healthy (for now)

Devin Thomas an afterthought now or what's going on?
He was in on punt coverage. :lmao:He was invisible the entire game. Shocked he isn't making the most of his opportunities. Joey Galloway is way too old... someone needs to emerge there whether it be Armstrong or Thomas.

I'm in the same position and am also targeting Greene. Here's why:1. He passes the eyeball test. Don't get me wrong, he's no Jonathan Stewart, but he looks like a strong pro.2. The Jets ran the ball 600 times last year under this coaching staff.3. The O Line is still very good.4. Good team, good defense. Should be in most every game. Should be killing-the-clock in many fourth quarters.5. LT is old. I saw what I saw last year - he sucked. I have to admit he looks good here in August, but will he be able to sustain it? Even if he does, there should be plenty of caries to go around. All this adds up to massive upside. I know he doesn't catch the ball well, and he gets dinged up, but sometimes you gotta swing for the fences.

I think they played over their heads at the right time last year.

And while I don't put a whole lot of stock in pre-season (except for rookie performances), Sanchez looks to have regressed into making his bad passing decisions. I think he presses when he feels they need a TD (e.g., haven't scored one yet) and he really needs to settle for a FG when the passing lane isn't there. They have told him this and there is really nothing more to do here except hope he figures it out with experience.

I think the RB situation is good and that LT seems to be OK - we will see how he holds up from week 10 on, but his presence should help Greene not have to touch the ball 25 times per game (at least not this year).

The WR and TE situation will depend on Sanchez' situation, but I can see a bunch of quick low post dumps (a few last night looked good) - which means low risk low - low reward (i.e., no long yardage).

The D looked very good against the run. They need DR in the 2ndary - no question. When they stuff the run, teams will start to pass and pick apart the weaker defensive backfield. We did play a Skins team without their starting QB - something to think about.
