Snowmageddon 2013 (1 Viewer)

I have not ventured outside yet, only looked from the window, but it seems not a single plow has come down my block since the snow began friday night. Seems to be a huge problem in Suffolk County LI this storm. Normally I support these guys, they work crazy hours when the stuff starts falling, and I heard b/c of the amount of snow down and a lot of abandoned cars on the road is making it tougher. But to not see even a single plow is crazy right now. And I live on one of the hilliest parts of long island (Bald hill if you are familiar—the 7 sisters as its known b/c of its 7 crazy hills on one road) and I would have thought this area would be somewhere near their priority.
are you sure they know you live on that street?

Looks like a big snow storm is heading towards the Northeast middle to end of next week. Maybe.

I follow a few weather nerds on FB. They've been talking about it quite a bit. Leaning towards not likely.

:sadbanana:
Meaning it'll happen. :D

Models (euro) support it. They just have their doubts. "So the hype continues. Please for the love of everything sacred do not listen to these claims of a snowstorm next week." Weird that a week or so ago they were talking about a warming trend for mid-Nov and now there's this cold air coming in from the north and "energy" from the west to give the EC this storm.

I'm taking the week off just in case.

That's the way these things work, right? It's till too early to say but they'll have a better idea come this weekend. As for the hype, there really hasn't been much said about this possible storm aside from the weather nerds as you say ( :nerd: ).

In fairness, folks didn't believe the models on Sandy initially either since they didn't seem realistic but this storm isn't even in the same realm.

Personally I hope it does happen as I love it when it snows.

I don't mind the snow, I mind having to drive in it. I'm fine, it's the others I don't trust. :D Esp down here where snow isn't too common and snow tires don't exist.

So the weather channel seemed to be building this one up based on the GFS a few days ago but now the GFS has it out to sea so now they're saying it'll be nothing. GFS almost certainly will change course again and they'll be back to SNOW!!!! The Euro model still has it hitting the east coast.

Went from a real wheel drive Infiniti Coupe to a Jeep 4 door Wrangler this year. Chances of snow this year are minimal.

Where? NY/NJ going to see anything?
Last I saw, rain was more likely than snow. NW NJ and lower NYS could get snow, but a lot of rain for the I-95 corridor. And on the biggest travel day of the year, yikes.

Depends. Latest "thought" is towards the coast it will start as rain and change to snow. Further inland and in the mountains they should get quite a bit of snow. Unless the wishy washy GFS is right and the low goes out to sea.

Forget the people driving...I pray it snows on all the people waiting in line at Walmart/Best Buy etc for Black Friday!

I need it to not snow on Wednesday :( Driving down south with my brother for 10 hours will be difficult enough.

I will be driving to the in-laws in Ohio on Monday. I'll have a Tim Hortons :coffee: or 6 while that day goes down.

If you leave early enough and are going down 95 you might be fine. Possibly hit some rain. If you were heading west towards say the Appalachians you'd probably hit a little snow.

Yeah, I really just wanna leave Wednesday and not have to bump things up to Tuesday. Actually will go 301 most of the trip to avoid the beltway.

I'll be driving to the folk's place in VA LATE Tuesday night. The wife and I have a new routine of just driving wherever after work. We might get in at like midnight, but it sure beats traffic...and in this case, hopefully snow too.

Looks like about everywhere from the middle of the country heading east is going to get a little winter weather soon. Looking like ice here with a change to rain. A little further west is gonna be ugly. Lots of ice. Lots of downed power lines.

The closer we get to this thing the worse the forecasts are becoming. TWC should be totally hard now.

Started out as nothing, 1-3". Then went to 2-4", then 4-7", now seen it at 8-12" for the Philly area. So I'm assuming 2 feet. Good luck everyone.
