Snowmageddon 2022 (3 Viewers)

I want to give a huge shoutout/thank you to whoever said to get WD40. I bought some after you suggested it. But when I went out to start shoveling, I forgot to use it. Two scoops later, the entire shovel was covered in snow. Hit it with the WD40 and after that, it was all sliding off with no sticking. Whoever that was, thank you immensely. That saved me so much time and effort.
Double shoutout/thank you to whoever said to get WD40. How have I lived 40 years without knowing that trick?

When they say "9 people have died as a result of this storm" on CNN, they're basically talking about 9 105 year olds who died today of natural causes coincidentally in the affected areas, right?

No, one was a 5 year old in a truck wreck.

Some dude here keeled over shoveling. But that won't happen to you. You've been eating so well in that contest!

I heard someone died of a heart attack after shoveling snow around DC. Not sure about the others.

You can bet your butt someone died from a heart attack shoveling snow and someone was killed in a car wreck. Beyond that, maybe.

Maybe 8 and one obese alcoholic who thought it would be fun to shovel with no pants on.

Yeah seriously. "This fat middle aged guy with a family history of heart disease, named Otis, went out and overexerted with more exercise in 8 minutes than he's had in the past 8 years and the guy's heart just exploded. Film at 11."

I've kept up with the snow better than this thread.

West Chester PA:

20+ inches in my backyard up 4 inches from 2 hours ago.

Back patio semi clear with doggie run/drainage path #2.

Driveway snowblower run #4 and #5 thanks to my son.

Still snowing gang busters.

Leaf blower success!

After

I just did the porch and steps.

Works really well.

I did the walkway with my shovel as it seemed too deep.

I can try doing the walkway with the blower after as I got rid of the 1st big chunk of it.
holy ####, totally didn't think about this. nice, going out for round 2 now
Worked well again.

It's really only good for steps and porches.

Gets around chairs and patio furniture very easily.

Could work well on pavement but once you have 4+ inches on the sides it becomes a bit difficult as you can't just blow it to the sides.

The high tide coming could be worse?
Local Philly stations are reporting the flooding is worse than Sandy already. Tonight's could be as bad. The snow is bad for me, but I can shovel/blow it away. Flooding, not so much. I feel bad for my friends and colleagues with property at the shore, and everyone else there.

Stay safe.

Is it me or has that eye been parked over N.J. since this morning. Couple of inches in R.I., gonna go get some gas for the snow blower.

I think I'm at or near or 24 inches. I cleared a foot off a deck rail around 11am. And it's back. Might be coming off roof a little, but it's a stretch.

I have been plowing my neighbors non stop for 8 hours, but I am running out of places to put it. it gets soft, but if you move it around it gets rigid enough to work with.

Good day for online poker here in NJ :) - lots of big pots.

Just saw a guy named Evil Grin at my table - he busted before I could ask if he was our EG :)

Last year we had to truck the snow away. It worked out okay cuz the winter ended before we ran out of dumping ground.

getting clobbered here on Long Island. nothing official yet, but i'd say around 20 inches and its still coming down hard

Worse in the cape may/ wildwood area for sure. Not as bad further north in ocean county, at least yet.

I shoveled the sidewalk up to the end of my block. The dckfaces next door (4 guys, all under 30) next lift a finger. I've had them walk past me without saying a word, not even "thanks" as in shoveling the sidewalk in front of their house. They just cruise to the middle of the street and continue on.
Where are you, Z? Hipster hell aka Canton?
Upper Fells near Patterson Park. The sledding tomorrow will be awesome.

Life lesson I've learned over the last couple of winters......the plow guy always takes care of the man with a shovel in his hand.

Snow has to go somewhere and the plow guy always has a choice. He can leave it piled up in front of your car or driveway, but if he sees you busting your hump while your lazy neighbors sit on their asses, things work out well. Even better when you offer him a cold beer. They don't typically take it, but it still helps.

Also, on a side street that may be low priority, catching the plow guy while out shoveling can get it done. They say they aren't supposed to take money, but either way, it can get done.

My neighbor just shoveled my steps for me. Awesome. I'm not touching the snow until tomorrow. Probably do it all morning while my son plays. As long as I'm in by 3pm I'm good.

37" and still getting it. Have 6 feet on the deck. Going to throw that over type side and I may be able to completely cover the kids playground. Going to be a kickass tunnel fort tomorrow.

Really picking up in R.I. new gas in blower, but starter isnt working so it looks like some wrench time later. Just got a bloody nose. I hope the cabana is safe. :-(

They said 14 inches here now. There's no way. Looks much more than that
Central Park had 14.7" as of 1 pm. Not sure about other places but they've mentioned several times Brooklyn and Staten Island had a lot more accumulation than the City.

10 biggest NYC snowfalls in history (5 since 2000):

Diblasio just said NYC is at 19.5", expecting up to 28".
