Snowmageddon 2022 (1 Viewer)

So, bullseye. This guy. Great. I quit. I quit New Jersey. I quit snow. I quit winter. If I wanted to live in Alaska I would go there. If I wanted to live in the woods at Narnia I'd build a magic closet. If I wanted to see snow every day I would find Queen Elsa and piss her off. But I've done none of this. My parents did. It's their fault. And my wife. And my kids. Any everyone else who I can blame. This is ****ed up. I have a buddy who has family in Maine - they've had over 100 feet this winter. I mean, are we this underevolved as a species that we still accept living in places where it snows? Are we still this stupid?

If you live anywhere this storm hits you should just lose your right to vote, me included. We are clearly too stupid to move away from this crap so what makes anyone think we can vote for the correct person?
Winter Storm Warning just issued for the Big Island of Hawaii.

Yeah, I left work early yesterday because I saw the weather reports (go figure). My coworkers laughed at me. When I came in today, they all told me how it took them 3 hours to get home. He who laughs lasts, laughs longest.
Did the same thing yesterday. When I got off the train my car was covered in ice already.

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow at 1130am .... Let's see if they cancel on me.
When I got home yesterday my garbage can was covered in ice and was frozen stuck to the road. That really is the point in the sitcom where the guy just gets back in his car and drives until the temperate guage in the car says its 80 outside, gets out of the car and just sits there. I was close.
My wipers kept freezing into big bars of ice. It was kind of comical watching them klunk back and forth. The crazy part is I have a heated front windshield in my car and they work very well (it has those defrost wires in the front), and it was still icing up. Last night's storm had some unusual precipitation that was just very very prone to icing up quickly.

LOL @ above 12,000 feet elevation. That's around where small planes require oxygen. I didn't realize Hawaii went that high. That's only like 1,000 feet lower than the highest point in Colorado I think.

Peed my initials into the snow up by the observatory a number of years back.

Colorado has many 14,000+ foot high mountains..

I have hiked above 12,000.. once you get used to the altitude it wasn't that bad

I've been to Keystone Mountain to snowboard. The peak is like 12,000+. I got serious altitude sickness. Headache for the first 24 hours or so. Not fun.

Apparently the highest peak in Colorado is 14,440, compared to the highest peak in HI at 13,796. That's less than 1,000 feet difference. I guess I just find that shocking, and impressive for HI.

I went to Aconcagua. We went up to the base camp and that was pretty awesome. It was a little over 14,000ft. We stayed for a while and hiked around until I eventually got a pounding headache and started to get the giggles like I was high. Good times.

If you go from the bottom of the ocean, the volcano which makes the Big Island is over 30,000 feet tall. It's only like 14,000 above the water line.

Our county's schools closed tonite already. 5-9" and looking at potential single digits overnight tomorrow into Friday. Potential 4 day weekend after a grueling 2 day week (Tuesday/Wednesday) for the kids. Tough work.

When is that Spring?!?

School was canceled for the day; only an inch or two on the ground now. Looks like it will be snowing until late afternoon at this point though.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure this nagging cold I've had caused my eardrum to burst last night. That's fun. I hope my doctor's office is open

Omg, again? It's snowing again now. I have never seen it snow this much and this often in R.I. This is nuts!

About an hour north of Philly in NJ...been coming down pretty hard since I got up this AM. Amazingly the kid's daycare is still open. The wife and I are working from home, but I ran the kid to daycare. Secondary roads are bad. Plows are just now getting to them. Main roads are slushy but fine.

My guess is that if it starts to get colder, this could get pretty messy. It's a wet snow right now. At least where we are, the issue is that most of the secondary roads are already dug out with snow berms on both sides. When you get this slushy stuff, it really has nowhere to go and just slushes back onto the roadway. When things get really cold, all that crap freezes.

Central jersey. My office tried for an 11 am opening but just gave up. Now we're closed. Still need to log on and do some work from home but at least I can do it in sweats

 Why would you take your kid to daycare with both of yas home, only to have to trek back out in worse conditions later on?
Actually getting work done with an 8 month-old is next to impossible. Both of us had several conference calls and things we had to get done today and couldn't reschedule things.

Daycare is literally 5 minutes away.

Decided to come into the office. There are 2 of us. You would think Id get more work done. I really don't want to do anything.

I've gone in on days like that before too. I agree. It's odd because you feel like you should get a ton done without interruptions. Instead you just sit there and wonder why you're not at home in your sweatpants and ultimately leave early...then you get home and do nothing.

And daycare is closing at 1:30. Not surprised, but at least I got a few hours of work in. I'm so far behind because of the combination of the kid being sick every other week, and all this weather. I feel like I'm never going to get caught up at work. Posting here doesn't help.

A plane just skidded off the runway at LGA in all this. Looks like everyone is okay thankfully.
NY Giant TE Larry Donnell a pax on this flight.
Speaking of Donnell,MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell did a report with who she thought was Donnell on a phone interview to see what he had to say about the flight and it ended up being an obscene call that went right over her head(whoever it was said to #### her right in the #####).Makes you wonder if these "news" organizations do any homework at all to make sure who they are talking to is the right person because this isn't the first time and certainly won't be the last.

Enough snow to get me out of having to drive god knows how long in this weather for what would end up being a late night, but not enough to stop the bossman from heading to the airport (thankfully not LGA) for a flight.

I call that perfect tracking of a storm

Just got back from a long walk in the woods with my Labrador. His back was almost covered with snow and he had frozen stuff around his muzzle, but he loved it. Me, not so much.

About 7 inches in central MoCo Md. (Rockville).

Heard a rumor that the "essential employees" (Janitors, etc) in our county schools didn't come in today, therefore the sidewalks around the schools will not get cleared. Likely result - 4 day weekend.

I'm about to do this. I'm excited as she is. I turn on a podcast or audible and roll.

I was walking in the woods alone this afternoon. When I came home and looked in the mirror I saw little icicles on my facial hair.

I just got back from clearing my driveway...It seemed like we were closer to 10 than 6...call it a generous 8 inches. (I sure hope she does)

It's getting hard to tell how much we have because there's always some old stuff there. I swear the sides of my driveway are well over 2' now from all the crap I've blown up onto that area. Probably pretty icy at the bottom of that pile too. This stuff would've made some awesome snow men. Too bad I just never felt like playing in it this winter.

I was just thinking how screwed I'd be if my snow blower broke on me. I need to remember to order a few spare parts (belt, shear pin, etc) just to have around.

All you guys with your Labs going on walks make me hella jealous. I miss big dogs. The wife's Chihuahua would just sink and get lost in this stuff. I miss playing in the fields with the Lab I had growing up. So much fun.
