Getting a taxi was impossible & Uber had a 4.5x surge... Took the subway, what a ####### mess that was.
#*$(# uber. i thought that wasnt legal?
The surge thing is such nonsense... A $20 ride would've been $90, #### them.
that's ####### nuts- screw them.

here's a pic of the empire state from my office 5 blocks away (it's silhouetted, just the top)

so my office closed at 3... trains were PACKED going downtown.

get home to an email from my boss from France- can you do blah blah blah, which necessitates me heading back to the office because the building was closing today at 5 and staying closed all day tomorrow.

got up just in the nick, and at just after 5 the trains were EMPTY heading downtown.

Penn Station going totally bonkers. Packed trains, fist fights, you name it.

Office closed early, made a mad dash and caught a train unscathed. I'm still expecting this to be overblown. Will be interesting.

By the way you guys aren't getting serious enough in here. Be seriouser.
When was this? I caught the 3:52 to Long Beach and it didn't seem anything strange at all.
Caught a 2:22 pm train and Penn was packed, not very hectic but it felt like it was the 5-6pm rush hour. My train was the most crowded I have ever seen it, all seats were taken and people were jammed into the aisles and doorways.

Back to 21-35" for most of CT, with Central CT getting it the worst. Middletown and Hartford predicted upwards of 33". We're supposed to get 30"

Shoot.

I so hope these guys are wrong.

Just did my first shoveling. Looked like a good 4-6 inches already out there, and I understand it's supposed to get a bunch worse.

Do you have enough bagels?
They freeze well.

Curious what Otis' bagel place is, though. Not nearly the number of really good places as even 10-15 years ago.
I've got a killer and unassuming spot on Jericho Tpke.

May have to make a run in the morning.

CVS computer system is down in Nassau, get yo Viagra at Walgreens.
Really? I picked up my meds not an hour ago. Otherwise, too much snow and too little meds make Koya go something something.
Was it a refill? I was dropping off a new one and they couldn't launch the site where they store insurance info. Said the CVS in Oceanside was down as well.

Bagels: Bagelry in RVC has the best Everything Bagels I've had.

I'm always on the fence when it comes to shoveling. Do multiple passes or wait until the worst is over and do one big one?

CVS here near Boston was same deal at 6pm, mine was a refill and got it quickly but must have been 30 pissed off looking people waiting around for them to get their crap together.

Down to 2-4" predicted here in South Jersey.

Don't get the Uber hate. That's how the free market works. Demand goes through the roof, roads get crazy as everyone is out to get last second provisions which means that the demand for their services is higher and their personal liability is higher as well. And if you don't want to pay it, that's cool, you can just hop on the subway or call a yellow cab.

I'm not worried. I've gotten emails and phone calls from NStar & Verizon telling me they are ready to respond to any emergencies.

Huh? My mom in south Jersey said it was gonna be 12 to 18 inches when I talked to her. They changed it that much?

Yeah, refill that was already ready. That may be it.

Greenvale Bagel used to be great but not sure anymore. Locally, Sea Cliff bagels (I'm an onion fan, personally) is pretty sweet. Fav spot is still Bagel Oasis off the LIE in queens is still my overall fav. 24/7 at that.

They really don't want anyone on the streets late tonight. 11 pm curfew in NYC. If you're caught driving afterwards, you will be cited around 300. :moneybag:

well there's your problem: weather.com/TWC

Lolz at CNN trying to sensationalize like crazy and Erin Burnett and her crew (including melodramatic Chad Meyers) sitting on the sidewalk with no snow on what looks like a balmy night in NYC with tons of foot traffic around. They're trying so hard and the weather just isn't cooperating.

Wunderground is saying pretty much the same thing. The numbers in the Philly to SJ area have been continually revised downward all day.

Guess we'll see.

The boss offered to put people up at hotels so we can get to the office tomorrow. There were no takers - we'll see who gets the last laugh.

Snow was starting to accumulate on the roads when I got home at 7pm. You can turn up the hyperboles now that I have finished dinner.

It's weird because the NWS warning that came out at 4pm says 10-18" of snow, but any weather service I use says 2-4". weather.com, Wunderground and 1Weather all are saying 2-4" for almost all of SJ. Someone is way off. And since they said it would start coming down at noon today and there hasn't been a flurry in the sky since about 11am, I'm leaning towards the lower numbers.
