Definitely something to keep an eye on. Both the SPC and WPC have outlined Day 7 (Tuesday) as a volatile day, both with snow and severe weather. That's a long way out, though.Sheik, what are your models showing for the storm coming for the Plains and Upper Midwest early next week?
A man suffered life-threatening injuries Monday after he was struck by falling ice in Harbor East.
The ice fell from an approximately three-story building in the 600 block of President Street. Crews responded to the scene at 1:35 p.m., and the man was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital.
A fire department spokesman could not provide the man's name or any updates on his condition.
Not to make light of this situation, but every day I leave the house, I notice a huge pile of snow sitting on the roof. I know it has my name on it. One day, when I'm not expecting it, it's going to fall at the perfect time to nail me. I almost guarantee it.In what passes for an upscale and trendy neighborhood in Baltimore - kind of scary and random

Another bad one, guy dies of carbon monoxide poisoning after possibly being snow plowed while inside his car:

Of course!Funny to note that the NAM keeps moving this storm Friday further west with each run. I still think we are in the clear, but coastal areas could get brushed if the NAM is correct. Of course, when has the NAM ever been correct?![]()
Back is still sore.See there, you run all the poors out and now Otis has to shovel his own damn driveway.pretty much just you poors, thankfully.I thought NYC was used to snow?
Or does the cost of living somehow keep snow out, along with us poors?
With all the whining and unplowed streets, you'd think people were talking about Tuscaloosa.

Looks like the chances of seeing a blizzard are increasing more and more. Could be a good one for that area.Definitely something to keep an eye on. Yes it looks like one of those storms that can produce a lot of snow/wind and severe weather on the other side of the front. The low pressure comes from the west, heads south a little and then hooks up to north with the heaviest snow on just to the north and west of the low. Parts of Nebraska and Iowa are looking like they may get the worst of it.Looks like the chances of seeing a blizzard are increasing more and more. Yup. I've seen a couple mets saying this solution is pretty much locked in. You're going to be scooping a lot of snow, it looks like.Sheik! I know a lot if this is about the east coast, but can you check our my area for next week? We are supposed to see some snow with high winds on Tuesday. Eastern Nebraska.
Looks like the models are liking snow for SE NE and that's about it for the heavy stuff. Still a ways out, but as of right now, anyone in NE not in the SE corner might miss out.Scooping? Who says that? You're going to be scooping a lot of snow, it looks like.Sheik! I know a lot if this is about the east coast, but can you check our my area for next week? We are supposed to see some snow with high winds on Tuesday. Eastern Nebraska.Fine with me. Haven't had a snow day from work in almost 6 years.
I shoveled 3 days in a row. Never less than a foot of snow each time. How much did you get out your way? My unofficial count was close to 30 inches.Sheik -- next storm that you wish upon us in chsster county, you're shoveling my driveway.
Oh, and the next storm signal for us would be around the Feb. 9-11 timeframe. Keep in mind, any storm from here until the end of March has the potential to be a huge storm. The weather pattern couldn't get more ideal for huge Nor'easters.![]()

Sunday into Monday is perfect timing for a nice snow storm.Looks like NE will end up getting the snow after all.
So this is the week for warm air in the East. I keep hearing people clamoring that winter is over and we are ready for an early spring. Wrong. This is like the eye of the storm. It's leading everyone into a false sense of security but come Sunday... game on again. The storm signal for Sunday night into Monday is a pretty nice one. Medium confidence right now. Obviously still a week away, but this one has potential.
If you're seeing 60's, I'm guessing you're looking at a weather app. I have a lot of people telling me that. It is my belief that the model those apps are using is not correct. Like I said, the best chance for our next snow event will be Sunday night/Monday morning. It's not a guarantee, but the chances are fairly good. Not locked in one way or another just yet, but I think as far as cold weather goes, the chance we are cold until the end of March is probably around 90%.im seeing sunday will be in the 60's
we still on for another storm?![]()
Love how people get all giddy about the not seeing the shadow crap. It was cloudy out. And that "theory" has been wrong more than it's been right.Pretty sure the groundhog hasn't been looking at the long range models.
The "theory" is never wrong. That's the point. If he sees his shadow, 6 more weeks of winter (March 21st). If he doesn't spring is right around the corner (in about 6 weeks).Love how people get all giddy about the not seeing the shadow crap. It was cloudy out. Yeah, I think it's funny that pro mets get so upset with the groundhog. This day every year, they're all tweeting out about how he's wrong 65% of the time. Truth is, he's called for 6 more weeks of winter 85% of the time. Which means, technically, he's been right 85% of the time. That's better than most pro mets. The "theory" is never wrong. And with the warm weather we have right now people are believing the rodent.
Last month I was at a beerfest in short sleeves on a Saturday. It snowed on Sunday.Know we're still 5 days out but it seems like it would take a miracle to get cold enough for real snow on Sunday night.
Yeah. I think it was 2 years ago we had beautiful warm weather for the Super Bowl, and that night we had 10 inches of snow. It doesn't matter what the temperature is except for when the storm hits.Last month I was at a beerfest in short sleeves on a Saturday. I've had shoulder pain for a little over a week now. Not sure if I strained something working out or if it was from shoveling. <_< Still looking for a "cheap" snow blower/thrower. Just not something that sells on CL here since few have them.Back is still sore.See there, you run all the poors out and now Otis has to shovel his own damn driveway.pretty much just you poors, thankfully.I thought NYC was used to snow?

That's just poor planning man.2nd day in a row all government offices closed so it has been a nice 4 day weekend, but man am I sick of shoveling. I still have 17 inches packed in on my sidewalk My good shovel broke yesterday and the worst part I am out of beer.
Is this shtick? I think that's the second time I've seen somebody use the word "scoop" instead of shovel.Snow Day! Was predicted to start snowing at 9 last night, but we didn't have anything yet at 11. I was starting to get worried. Woke up at 5 to a bunch of snow and went back to bed. Work called at 7 at to make sure I knew we were closed.
Can't tell if it's still snowing because the wind is blowing 35 and supposed to keep up until 9 PM. Everything is closed. It's a mess. Not sure if it's worth even trying to scoop yet.
You probably saw me say it when I was making fun of him for saying it. Scoop. So odd.Is this shtick? I think that's the second time I've seen somebody use the word "scoop" instead of shovel.Snow Day! Regional thing? Never heard of this in my life.
I thought of you when I was shoveling out from our storm. There was so much snow in spots due to drifting, you couldn't just take one shovelful and get it all. When I came inside my fiance asked me how it was. I said, "It sucked. You had to take 3 different scoops for each..." Then I heard what I said. So I thought, "No. That's not right. Scoops? I had to take 3 different shovels? No. That doesn't sound right either. It can't be scoops though, right?" Finally, she was like, "Did you lose your train of thought? You just kind of drifted off there, staring into space."Is this shtick? I think that's the second time I've seen somebody use the word "scoop" instead of shovel.Snow Day! Regional thing? Never heard of this in my life. For sure a regional thing. I have confirmed it for Nebraska and Iowa. Sheik and I had a back-and-forth about it a while back. I didn't know it was such a regional thing until then. I was as amazed that it was so funny to the rest of you.
Scoopedfor about an hour and a half then had to go back and redo a couple of places. Took the Jeep out and got it stuck for a few minutes before working myself out. That was a little embarrassing.
