My own 2c.
I’ve been a subscriber for as long as I can remember, doing the 3 year subscription thing, which was pretty good value. FBG was the first FF sub I signed up for and coming back year after year has had a nice sense of familiarity in term of the layout, what is presented.
I did hesitate with the $40 price tag this year, partly because I use another paid resource that I find much more useful/interesting in terms of content, so it felt redundant. But I’m back for this year, happy to be a supporter and get access to a few bits and pieces I like, probably the last time though.
Even though I did purchase, I recognise it’s probably not value for someone like me - only in a small number of leagues, not interested in daily, basically only play dynasty and IDP. The content is very redraft focused, which is fair enough for a yearly sub, but not what I’m personally interested in.
At the end of the day there are still a few articles I like reading - Eyes of the Guru, Trade Value Chart, Bloom’s tiers articles, some of the roundtables are worth a read. I also like the in season game recaps as a resource I return to. As a non-redraft guy, the draft strategy stuff is fairly useless though. Other stuff - sleepers, undervalued articles etc are pretty chalky but that’s no different to anywhere else - there’s so much accessible info out there that most “takes” quickly become consensus and stale. I’d say I only find about 20-30% of the article content worthwhile, but whatever. Part of that is because you’re so plugged into news, podcasts, analysis generally, that not much feels “new” or genuinely insightful.
All that to say that the price increase without the 3 year option is a bit disappointing. I still don’t see it as a massive cost in the overall scheme of things though, given how much mental energy I give to this hobby!
