So what does it cost for FBG subscription now? (1 Viewer)

I look at the $40 as a goodwill payment for all the board shenanigans
That's how I look at it. I think our free league is ending, even, this year. I'm not sure I can even use the service besides doing the Summerpalooza Ministry of Sports and Something Something draft.

But the cheatsheets help tremendously.

My own 2c.

I’ve been a subscriber for as long as I can remember, doing the 3 year subscription thing, which was pretty good value. FBG was the first FF sub I signed up for and coming back year after year has had a nice sense of familiarity in term of the layout, what is presented.

I did hesitate with the $40 price tag this year, partly because I use another paid resource that I find much more useful/interesting in terms of content, so it felt redundant. But I’m back for this year, happy to be a supporter and get access to a few bits and pieces I like, probably the last time though.

Even though I did purchase, I recognise it’s probably not value for someone like me - only in a small number of leagues, not interested in daily, basically only play dynasty and IDP. The content is very redraft focused, which is fair enough for a yearly sub, but not what I’m personally interested in.

At the end of the day there are still a few articles I like reading - Eyes of the Guru, Trade Value Chart, Bloom’s tiers articles, some of the roundtables are worth a read. I also like the in season game recaps as a resource I return to. As a non-redraft guy, the draft strategy stuff is fairly useless though. Other stuff - sleepers, undervalued articles etc are pretty chalky but that’s no different to anywhere else - there’s so much accessible info out there that most “takes” quickly become consensus and stale. I’d say I only find about 20-30% of the article content worthwhile, but whatever. Part of that is because you’re so plugged into news, podcasts, analysis generally, that not much feels “new” or genuinely insightful.

All that to say that the price increase without the 3 year option is a bit disappointing. I still don’t see it as a massive cost in the overall scheme of things though, given how much mental energy I give to this hobby!

Joe ...I apparently made the mistake of joining through rotopass.  I like the guy, but I joined because I thought I was getting full access to here and football outsiders.  I don't get full access here and I way don't get full access to football outsiders ...even though it makes it appear that if you join ...that you do.

The promotion isn't your thing and the money isn't important, but it's not cool.

Not sure what is offered for Football Outsiders, but all Rotopass subscribers get access to the Footballguy Season Long subscription.

2 - Year after year you can just keep creating new email accounts and signing up as a "new member" on draft.com and getting your free membership to footballguys. But in this scenario, FBG is only getting $10 vs. the $25 they would have in the past by just directly selling you a premium membership. I'm sure there are pretty decent kickbacks to FBG for the draft.com deal but really enough to make it worthwhile?
We all remember the obscene amount of advertising and money spent by the DFS sites a couple of years ago.

My guess is FBGs actually makes more money than a straight subscription each time someone subs through draft.com

#### it.  I don't like it but am going to look at it as a $3.50 monthly payment to use the boards.

I signed up because I’m lazy, don’t feel like trying to navigate some new, cheaper site. $40 is 1/10th of my league fee so doesn’t seem so bad. Besides, they are offering a lower cost option this year through Draft although I decided against it. I do like the weekly features and using this site allows me to prep for the draft with minimal effort.

I dropped a $100 yesterday at a Dallas airport bar, certainly I piss away more money on a lot less.

First year in probably a decade I haven’t subscribed.
Dang dude.  It's probably not even 1/10th of a billable hour.  Surely you can find 6 minutes to bill while sitting on a train reading FBGs.  Also this isn't going to help your effort to buy out J.

$40 for two leagues?   jeez.. i wouldn't bother.

my dental league has swollen up to $600 for the entry...
I don't even play anymore, $40 is the combined buy in for the two leagues we started for each of my kids and their friends... and half of it goes to pizza and beer (for the dads).

So someone explain this Draft thing to me like I'm shuke.
It's like fanduel/draftkings except you draft your team (draft starts as soon as the league fills) and they have season long best ball leagues (in addition to daily). Fast drafts or slow drafts for best ball leagues. Fast drafts 30 seconds per pick. Use the link from that "buy now" button on top of this page. Deposit $10 and you get a free fbg subscription. Use the same email address there as you do here.

Am I actually going to get anything for the $10 or will I need to deposit more to do a best ball season long draft?

it's a 2-step process.

1. Deposit $10 to DRAFT.com -> get free season-long FBG subscription

2. Put that $10 in play by entering a DRAFT contest -> get upgraded to the ALL PRO FBG subscription

as Nipsey said, you can enter a draft for as little as $1 or as much as $1000.

And am I correct that if one already has a subscription for FBG, doing the DRAFT thing will add an additional year?

I think they’ve since stopped him, but there was a guy (or several) that used to PayPal $25 to anyone who would signup a new DK or FD account, deposit that $25, and use their reference code.  The player could just play with that money with zero risk. So ya, the referrals are probably pretty good.

I signed up through Draft.com yesterday afternoon.

Subscription still not active.  What do i need to do?  Used same email address.

regarding #2.  I entered a best ball season league for $25 with my deposit.  Does that count towards the ALL PRO sub?

yep. I think you may need to wait for the draft to complete and have to make sure your DRAFT email address matches your FBG subscription email, but otherwise should be good. sometimes takes 48-hours to update I guess.

Why would anyone not do this?

I didn’t.  Because I just wanted to pay my guilt money for using the FFA and move on, and not deal with all sorts of sign ups.
I’ve always paid the scrip fee as a donation for forum, but if this is as pain free as it seems, why not take the free roll on $20?

edit: $30.

That’s basically two free pair of crocs and a best ball set it and forget it.

I was told if it doesn’t automatically upgrade your account then it’s not FBGs problem and you have to contact draft.  That’s was the response FBG customer service gave me.  I hope it automatically just works.

Seems reasonable.  Can you not opt out of emails?  I don’t want the spam either.
I can’t say for certainty that DRAFT is doing this, but with a lot of deals like this, what they are getting out of it for the cheap price you are paying is the selling of your information.

I haven't gotten any draft.com spam emails. Maybe it picks up during the season? Maybe I got one for the best ball championship thing.

Can’t recall getting any either. Signed up about a month ago. They seem pretty chill compared to the other two.
