There's a lot of things that disturb me about humanity and how we crap all over our environment is near the top of the list.  Murder is more towards the middle because lets be honest, some people just deserve it.  Anyhow, it makes me really happy that we are making serious progress in cleaning up our oceans and thought I would share.

Good to hear. We have had successes when targeting specific environmental problems.

Is it Sweden that has been so successful in their efforts to turn trash to energy that they are actually buying trash from other countries?

Is it Great Britain that is turning plastic into roads?  Saw a blurb on TV, but missed the show for it.  That would be huge.  Cooler, less potholes/maint etc.

there are people and things out there that need our help and stewardship... the garbage island thing has eaten at me since first hearing about it.

there was a recent blitz of articles about the most desolate, uninhabited island on earth... literally covered in garbage.

that snopes article didn't debunk the patch- just a couple of claims about it (including overall size, rate of growth and relative amount of garbage vs plankton).

still a huge issue, and a huge problem that needs addressing.
