Some of you guys are no fun. (1 Viewer)

I don't say this to be bullying, but threatening suicide and lawsuits are signs of serious mental instability or sociopathic behavior (assuming no mental help is needed.) Doing this and taking out aliases to support one's own position within the board is delusional and sad. I would urge a person who does that to seek help or to find counseling services that specialize in empathy training and recognition.

It's pathetic and worrisome that behavior like that is rewarded.

Thanks.

Hey man, don't talk #### about Raider Nation.

Nope. I'm an original. A unique light in a dark world.

*EDIT* I joined in 2012, but I've only been posting in FFA for a couple weeks. Ironically, I only started after getting banned for refusing to post here in the Rams-Ferguson thread in the SP.
As an aside: Unless you're the actual Jack White, your name should be changed to Jack White Fan.

Whenever I unintentionally soapbox a bit or get dramatic, I feel like I should thank people for their time. I should probably change it to "sorry, felt impelled."
Or you could just, you know, not.
Already considered, thanks.

Hey, you got your homie back. You can celebrate with a gun and some beer, though!
I'm not sure I understand the second part.

Your image. It fits the hostage situation this kid tried to put everybody in by threatening suicide and lawsuits out of guilt and as a power play.

Hey, I have no real problem with you, but I'm not surprised you dig this kid or this shtick, or whatever it is.

Some of us don't. I figured I'd explain why it's really messed up.

Okay, here goes:

When EM first showed up on the scene, I was not a fan. The suicide/lawsuit angle was entirely over the tip and completely uncalled for. As a matter if fact, I condemned him and called him out.

Then, Em lightened up. He was a still arrogant, but had some qualities of being an ambitious young man with plans of great things, but a little anxious and too big for his britches. So, I tried to side with him and give him some help.

His latest schtick...the bottlenecking and generalization of people is not my thing. And that is some deep-rooted stuff in an individual that I do not think changes. Because of that, I've backed off of my replies to him. You won't see me supporting him anymore. Yes, I put my support behind him after originally chastising him, but I should have went with my initial impression. As a matter of fact, in one of these threads, I specifically mentioned backing off (don't ask me to link to it, I just don't care that much to do so).

Better?

I don't know how respond the tonality of your last question, but we both agree on pretty much everything. So, if I was wrong in judging you, I apologize. I've seriously never seen anything but humor and a general good time in your posts, so that's why I stressed that I had no problem with you. I just don't. I just don't know how to take reactions to internet stuff.

I also sincerely hope this is shtick that goes away and not a personal issue with a troubled kid, for the kid's sake. Really. I'm urging that kid to either think long and hard about community, sincerity, and personal longing and improvement of his own situation, or if these self-destructive and communally insensitive thoughts pervade his personal life and are serious, to seek help.

The last question was bitter sarcasm that was unwarranted. That is on me and I apologize.

I took a break of several years from this place, specifically because I let it turn me from a lighthearted poster to a someone who took it too seriously.

It's an Internet message board. It's fun for me. When I start to take it too seriously, I back away. I'm having too much fun here to let that happen again. So, if it's all the same to you, I'd like to call a truce and move on with no harm done.

Absolutely. I also take it too seriously, obviously. It would be better if I stuck to things that brought me joy instead of things that anger me. Think I enjoy the talk about sports the most. Thanks for the unintentional advice.

Jesus guys, I'm going to post a picture of me and my black friends tonight to prove I'm not racist.
Instead of taking a picture, why not show them your video where you talk about the genetic differences between whites, Asians and blacks? I am sure they will love it and may even buy you a drink.

What do you think is the statistical likelihood that Em's black friends are smarter than him? 100% imo.

I'm gonna be serious one last time, then get back to being me.

Em: I feel it's unjust to talk about you without addressing you:

I love your passion, I just don't share your views. I hope that you realize that there is a big difference between the two.

Good point, make sure and show it to them then. Particularly the "stats" you mentioned that you are 200 times more likely to be a victim of violence from them instead of them from you. They will probably buy you drinks all night because that information may be a non-racist fact that they are not aware of (to impress them even further also mention those numbers are from the FBI).

I don't get it. We want equality and to rid the world of prejudice but we aren't allowed to acknowledge actual racism? The first step is to raise awareness.

What, you think they're going to get mad at me for telling them the truth about the world? Why hide it? Why is it OK for everything else to be transparent in the world but this?

We need to get rid of affirmative action and this protection if we want a future where all people are truly equal.

Should my white friends get offended that I said Asians are smarter than them on average?
No, because it hasn't been proven true. Statistically the majority of doctors in this country are white (contrary to your claims) but I hate to confuse you with the facts. These from 2008 but I am sure it hasn't changed that much:

http://www.hschange.com/CONTENT/1078/

Three out of four physicians identified themselves as white, non-Hispanic, while 3.8 percent were black, non-Hispanic, 5.3 percent were Hispanic, and 17.2 percent were Asian or other races. However, among physicians under age 40, about two-thirds were white and 33 percent were minorityblack (4%), Hispanic (5.4%), and Asian or other race (24%) (findings not shown).

Yes, there should be a sense of white guilt for things that happened in the past. But the idea that we can't talk about black on white crimes but are subject to excessive media scrutiny when a white cop kills a black man is ridiculous.

Not trying to step on any toes or get banned again but if you don't see a double-standard here then we're doomed with racial tensions for the rest of humanity.

You've got to base it off percentage of the population.

As in

X out of 100 whites are doctors.

X out of 100 Asians are doctors.

That's shows rate instead of breakdown. Whites being the majority will surely outpace others. Lookup statistics about average IQ.

Oh goody, to increase your popularity with your black friends, you can also tell them about getting rid of affirmative action. They will love it. Free drinks for Em from now on!

And on a serious note, no, you don't get it and I doubt you ever will.

You are aware that the Liberal / Conservative divide will never go away? I am willing to agree to disagree. If you're not about that, that's cool. But one side trying to assimilate the other to their agenda will only result in more conflict.

Dude, you exact words were "Aren't there more Asian doctors out there than white doctors?" You said nothing about percentages, so you lied in the video or didn't know what the hell you are talking about.

I'm not racist in any sense at all. That's the funny thing about online message boards, rumors and hearsay can get blown out of proportion purely for the fun of having a scapegoat to pick on.

I merely post statistics and try to discuss them. But nobody wants to discuss them, instead they point the finger. Which is fine, I just figured a board full of wealthy, intelligent men would be mature enough for this discussion.

If I had it my way, I would never discuss race again. But you can't come at me and tell me I'm wrong without actually addressing my argument.

Is this just Asians in America or are your counting world wide Asians?

If it is just America, does that make it cultural and not race related?

I can confidently say there are more Asian docs in China than Caucasians.

That's just it, lots of variables. You can argue that only the smartest Asians come to America and that's why they are perceived as superior intelligent. Is that true? I don't know.

I have seen statistics that show Asians on Average have an IQ that is a few points higher than whites. Not sure if that was for America or what dataset they used.

Let's here some gay stats too. Let's not limit the hate to black people. We don't need to address the sexism. I wouldn't want you to kill yourself.
Reported. This thread is about promoting legitimate discussion and you come in here with this crap?

Some of you guys need to take a chill pill and have a little fun. And by fun, I don't mean insulting fellow members of the board. It's like the concept of engaging in legitimate conversation is boring to some of you.

Some posters here aren't happy unless they're putting others down or hurting feelings. Which is downright hypocritical because the majority of these same people are 100% against racism and homophobia or whatnot. But direct personal attacks are A.O.K.

For the sake of a good time, chillax and have some fun. When in doubt ask:

"What would Otis do?"

You are reporting people now for going off topic?
Weren't you the guy who got all butt hurt about that whole suicide thing? Even saying you lost someone to suicide. But now, you're willing to ignore someone making a joke about me committing suicide in order to take a personal dig at me?

...and the only reason you want to take a personal dig at me is because you don't like me because of my previous suicide comments? Seriously run that through your logic and question if you actually have any moral fiber or just like conflict.

Yes. I took offense over someone making a fake suicide threat to shut down a message board thread when I have lost someone to suicide.

You really are pathetic not only to bring that up but to refer to me as being "butt hurt" as if you have a clue as to what I experiencd. Someone pointed out you are completely lacking the empathy gene and they were right.

I'm not sure I understand the second part.

Hey, I have no real problem with you, but I'm not surprised you dig this kid or this shtick, or whatever it is.

Some of us don't. I figured I'd explain why it's really messed up.
Okay, here goes:When EM first showed up on the scene, I was not a fan.

Word. :hifive:

Wait a minute here...Gene Sackman was banned?!?! He must have really cracked. I remember that he announced earlier that he was quitting fantasy football this year, plus he is a Vikings fan. Everything must have been too much for him.

Yeah, feel bad for that guy. I'll have him in my prayers. I haven't seen much from Bridgewater. Peterson will open up some passing windows when he returns.

Vikings defense is legit though. Gotta think they could have snuck in the wild card if AP didn't go HAM on his son.

Jesus guys, I'm going to post a picture of me and my black friends tonight to prove I'm not racist.
