Song lyrics that [potentially irrationally] anger you (1 Viewer)

Oh, it's been a hard day's night, and I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log

Paul: "Hey, mate, what's a profound word to rhyme with 'dog?'"

John: "Hmm.  Use 'log.'"

Paul: "Perfect!"

And then there's all of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum.  :loco:   Just an intriguing, but maddening, lyrical concoction.

"Attempts to wrangle these lyrics into linear coherence are thwarted at every turn, in part by red herrings (Reid claimed that the line “As the miller told his tale” has nothing to do with Chaucer) and by the demands of pop radio (Two extra verses were excised to keep the running time low.) Don’t let it bother you. If you spend too much time trying to figure out Procol Harum’s “A Whiter Shade Of Pale,” you might miss out on its majestically-rendered sorrow."

I’ve never heard anyone say a negative word about this magical song, lyrics or not.

Love the Pretenders, but this lyric always made me laugh:

Nothing you confess

Could make me love you less

I know what you intend Chryssie, but there are two ways to read that line.  I always hear the unintended way.  But maybe that's just me.

PS Leave Ringo's malapropisms (Hard Day's Night was a comment Ringo made after an all-night session that had the others laughing) out of this thread.  And if you want to deservedly attack Paul for Let Em In, then by all means check out Hello Goodbye
