SP Mock Invitational--5th round? Uh huh....5th round...... (1 Viewer)

Looking to trade up. Offer sent to Dezbelief.

Same goes for other guys coming up. Offering my 4th and 5th as long as the player I want is still there !

Ive been talking with some people about Cravens and whether hes worth trading future picks to move up and grab him, something the Pats very rarely do. Its looking like the only way to land him.

I couldn't tell you, of all the hybrid linebackers he was ranked all over the place the last couple weeks, but in recent mocks ive been seeing 4th rd or later and today in the 6th
I like their site for looking at visits and prospect lists for each position.

I sort of like their picks for the Panthers: Treadwell (WR), Cravens (S), Miller (CB), White (CB) and Beavers (OT) in the first 5 rounds.

I think instead of Treadwell, I would have gone CB in the 1st (Jackson, Alexander, Howard, etc. all there at 30) and then been a little freer to use the 3rd/4th elsewhere.

Regarding Jordan Jenkins, he doesn't have a true position.

A 3-4 OLB in college, who is definitely not a speed rusher around the end, a bender, or freak like Floyd.  He's kind of a SAM, edge setter, even power DE.

And those guys aren't flashy, and will never get 15 sacks.  But he's just really, really good.  Stronger than everyone across from him, athletic, aware.  Love this kid.

Hey, every fantasy draft has that guy:

Ok, with the 87th pick, I'll take Adrian Peterson.

We'll give @kutta Connor Cook, and move on.
lol. Well, sorry about that guys. I was on my phone and wanted a DB, so I pulled up a list and he was like the 7th CB on the list. Granted, I haven't really been following along, and I didn't see him in the 2nd and 3rd rounds taken so I threw his name out there. :bag:

Carry on.

I was debating between Cook and  a CB, specifically M. Alexander from Clemson. I'm going to wait one more year before drafting a carson's replacement and get secondary right now, which is needed badly.

The pick is Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson
Great pick. Can't believe he lasted this long.

Yes, because it means that the Steelers passed on having Bell, Brown, Green, Coates and Treadwell on the field at the same time... (also potentially Bryant in the future).
Consideration to other needs and the quality vs value of the 1st round WRs to the 2nd and 3rd round, I hope Pitt would pass on WR tomorrow.  We need a complimentary WR, not a star and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with Coates this year as he shags all of Bryant's practice reps.  Add Green and the passing game could be more prolific than last year.  For all of Bryant's splash plays, he also quietly ended many drives with poor routes, lazy efforts and not fighting for the ball on outs and comebacks leading to incompletions on 3rd down or interceptions.

The Dallas Cowboys select Dak Prescott. When Romo inevitably goes down we need someone who can at least evade one tackler.

Sorry for the delay, busy busy and power has been out since last night.

I have Treadwell as a top 15 player in this draft for the Steelers (basically eliminating 4-3 stars), so if he was there at 25 I say take him.  Brown's contract is up in 2 years.  If he's still the #1 WR in the league at that time, I'm not positive the Steelers can afford him along with our O-line, Big Ben, Bell (who I think the Steelers will extend this offseason) and any defenders we try and resign.  I highly doubt the Steelers go WR in the 1st (or even the 2nd probably) but I would be surprised if they don't grab a WR in the first 4 rounds.

Also, I do like Coates and think he should be a quality WR for us this year, possibly taking the WR 2 spot, and Green should add a spark, but we have to assume Bryant won't be back and it's possible Brown leaves.  So, 2 years from now our WRs could be Coates, Heyward-Bey, and draft picks...

Also, these two picks for the Panthers are going to be hard. I see some BPAs available that might not help the team this year and some positions with close to BPA that are much bigger needs. I wish I had a better idea on some of the rotational guys who may step up this year in positions where we had older vets that aren't there.

We have Brown under contract for two years plus the option of tagging him for two more.  Not worried about that.  We should have him locked down for the rest of Ben's career and if the tag is too much friction, they'll pay him.  Hey-Bey is not an asset.  He is a placeholder that Coats should be able to unseat this year.  Wheaton is JAG and gone after this year.  That's what we need to replace now is a #2 (in case Coates doesn't progress to that in year 3).  Caroo, Sheperd or Thomas in the 2nd is much better use of our picks IMO.  Aside from that, Colbert has been the best in the world at finding 3rd or later round WRs.  Let him do what he does, and get players at more premium positions (EDGE, DB, DT) in the early rounds.

ETA, don't forget Bryant will likely be back next year.

Don't forget Wheaton, he should be affordable when the time comes for a new contract.
Wheaton is JAG. He isn't special they way Bryant could be, if he stays out of trouble. Right now, IMHO, WR is actually a need for the Steelers. Brown is fantastic, but you have meh guys behind him and one talent who could be out for a year at any point and time.

Agree, but if Ben could throw more than 25 yards and Toussaint didn't fumble late in the game, Pitt may have very well gone to the SB without Brown.

LOL well that was the guy I was trying to trade up with Just Win Baby for !!! At least I know I wasn't trying something completely idiotic ( having never done a mock draft like this before or tried to trade up in one )

Happy too see my short list made through both my picks.

Higgins is alright for a slot WR and was on my list a bit after Mike Thomas. I haven't watched Garrett yet so can't speak on him.

The second guy is who I was going to pick. Rams need size.
I've seen him ranked in the 3rd, but honestly after the 1st/2nd rounders, there is a lot of difference of opinions. He seems to be pretty high (was one of the top ones left in my list) and I've seen him mocked to Carolina a few times so I've read up on him. Seems like a good WR that could be better than his draft slot based on where he went to school, i.e. he'd be higher if he went to tOSU.

Not sure what this means, but three of #Bucs four QBs remained after walk-thru to work with @BucsCoachJake. @Mike_Glennon did not.

I hope it means something.

Glennon is better than at least 10 of the starting QB's in the league.

I sent mass a PM with my short list for my next two picks just in case. I have a baseball game I have to leave for in less than and hour, so no idea where we will be.

I'm not a huge fan of Davis. I had him on my list for the Panthers to double dip at CB, but from what I have read he wasn't great at CB and is likely going to be a S. Seemed like he might not be great at either and for the Panthers, I think they'd rather have a bigger guy like Cravens to play SS and also be able to play on the line. As a CB, I think there are other guys still left that are better straight corners.
I watched way too many players the past couple of days.

Davis was the guy I had noooooooo written next to his name. I was talking to Cookie about this in PM.

He does not seem very good. I was just looking at CB/S tweeners that might fit as safeties after I watched most of the safeties over the past couple of months, I am not sure that Davis can make a roster after training camp.

Yep, tweeners that are just OK at both positions aren't good NFL players. Tweeners that are studs, but maybe too small according to some specs can do fine, especially on teams that value the quickness (say a smaller LB) and don't care about 10 pounds if the guy looks like a great football player.

At 97 the Seattle Seahawks select T WILLIE BEAVERS Western Michigan.

That gives us:

26. WR LAQUON TREADWELL Ole Miss

56. G/C JOSHUA GARNETT Stanford

90. CB SEAN DAVIS Maryland

97. T WILLIE BEAVERS Western Michigan

As for the peanut gallery, I sincerely hope that Laremy Tunsil, Ryan Kelly, Joey Bosa, and Sheldon Rankins fall to these picks on draft day.

I would have thought that the 2012 draft would have taught Seattle fans that drafting the bpa beats drafting for need every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Remind me, how did the internet experts rate Seattle's draft that year?
Remind me the last time they drafted a WR or CB anywhere near that high? Not expecting a top 6 pick to fall, but there were way better options at two critical picks. You screwed the pooch, and I think PCJS would agree.

According to Ticks compiled ranking Garrett is the 15th WR from over 20 sources including PFF, NFL.com ect 29 different draftnik type lists that he gathered.

Higgins is ranked at 11 so a bit higher but basically the same.

FWIW Mike Thomas who I selected is ranked 25th on the consensus list. But I have watched him and I like how he can make one handed catches (although I think he tries to showboat with this too much) and his physicality.. But I acknowledge that I am not likely better than the 29 different groups of people making rankings. I still liked Mike Thomas more.

Agree.  Thomas Davis and I think Cravens fit this mold.  Killbrew maybe being another.  Davis is like a dual-sport motorcycle.  Does street or dirt alright, but falls far short compared to a pure sport bike in either.  NFL is like a pro race.  You will never see a dual sport bike competing in motocross or Isle of Man.  Same as the athletic QBs that can run pretty good, but not WR or RB good, and can pass well enough for college but not the NFL.  Tebow.  I also don't like < 250 pound edge guys who can't drop back in coverage.  Not quite a DE and not quite an OLB.  Special teams is their only position.  Davis is this.  Kick coverage guy.  Maybe gunner.  That is a 6th or 7th round pick IMO.
