Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (1 Viewer)

8-days ago I landed Ware in the 18th round of a standard league. I play the Charles owner in week 1 and was thinking of offering him this trade:

Ware & D. Thomas for Julio.  Make the offer or let him suffer?

Lol-I don't think that him owning Julio at the expense of Ware is really "suffering"--but there is no harm in making the offer. My guess is that he declines it--but maybe he counters.  Good luck

I would never even consider that offer if I am Julio owner.

12 team, 0.5PPR draft last night, Ware went 10.05 (pick 113).  Two picks before I was going to take him.  :(

Charles went 3.03 to a different owner.

You will offend him and probably never get a counter offer to be able to trade with him again.

As of now, this would be an insult to the Julio owner. By mid-october, the Ware owner wouldn't do it.

Ware is on my bench as my 5th RB.  Since I play the JC owner week 1 (he also has Matt Jones), Maybe I take the victory and let this play out. If Ware becomes more prominent in the offense, then he becomes trade bait or a viable flex/depth option later in the year.

Yahoo got him at 9 carries and 1 catch........projecting 9 points.........but they are raising it everyday LOLOLOLOL.

I got him at 23+ touches. He's going to kill SD.

One of the difficult things is trying to project what happens when jc comes back healthy. For instance, is jc back to getting 15-18 touches per game or is it more of a 50-50 split w ware?  The fbg projections seem to differ on this w some projecting 13-14 games for jc but only 165 or so carries. Dodds also has ware for 165 carries over 16 games. Bob Henry seems to have a more optimistic view of Charles once he returns.

I think for me and many others who own both Charles and Ware, some sort of timeshare is the worst outcome. If it takes jc until week 3 to get right, great.

I'm with you Milk, Ware looks to have maybe the best matchup this week for RB's. Starting him with Confidence.

I was lucky enough to pick up Ware rather cheaply in my recent auction. ($11/250 budget) The JC owner, who was apparently unaware of injury concerns when he was bidding him up ($50), has already offered Yeldon in a trade. (Um, no.) Sharks, what's the best move here? Extract the most value in a trade, or ride the Ware wave as far as it goes? OR.... double down on his paranoia and try to acquire JC for pennies on the dollar?

ETA: Thinking this may stray a little too close to AC forum territory. It is intended more as a general strategy question for Ware owners going forward this season.

I think you start the guy and keep him. Charles could come back and re-injure himself. Sounds to me like he hasnt been getting "hit injuries" so much as "making cuts" injuries. This points to more soft tissue injuries ala Steven Jackson.

Super juicy week one matchup.  Looking forward to riding him for a few weeks until L Bell is back from suspension.

Reality is Charles owners won't be ready to let him go so soon for pennies. Somebody above proposed a going for the gold strategy of Ware + lower tier WR1 or WR2 for a premium WR1.  Might as well because right now Ware looks like a beautiful top 5 start week 1. At this point they have to make it worth your while.

So, if Charles doesn't go week 1, is Ware a must play for RB2 or a flex? I currently have Latavius Murray as my RB2 and Moncrief as my flex. Murray has a plus matchup against the Saints, so it'd be tough for me to bench him. Guess I should probably use Ware over Moncrief (standard, non PPR league).

The thing about Ware is that he gets FED every time the Chiefs make it inside the 10, which honestly should be a lot against the Chargers. I don't know how you don't start him in any format. The chance for 1 if not 2 TDs is just SO high IMO. And that's ignoring that he could easily put up a buck50 between the 20s too.

So hard to take him in the sixth when there are other starting RBs still on the board. But yea I see him going late 6th early 7th so you would have to take there.

Grabbed him in rounds 8 and 10 these past two days in two different drafts. Starting him over DeAngelo Williams/Jennings/Crowell/Langford/Murray across those two leagues.

For me for week 1 it's going to depend on C West. If West is inactive and Ware just has K Davis to worry about then I'm flexing Ware over L Murray and Foster. If West is active I will probably go Lat Murray or Foster

Murray has such a good matchup though

I have two drafts going tomorrow--so I have to ask out of curiosity--where did Ware go in your draft?
9.4 (12 team)

I drafted Ameer & Kevin White at 7.12 & 8.1 ... was considering getting ware at the 9-10 turn if he was there but was already gone before it got back to me

shocked to get the second best RB on the chiefs that won't be a starter by October?

It appears a few may be suffering from overhyped syndrome.
In the 11th, behind a 30 yr old double ACL RB, yeah... a little surprised.  A few backups went ahead of him... tough to name many back up RB's I'd rather have over Ware.

okay, that makes some sense...I do put him near the top of the list of backups.

Oh, trust me, I'm not on the train calling him a RB1/2 for the entire season, but he should be quite valuable early, while Charles works his way back.  Then, he's easily one of the most desirable handcuffs I would think.

The Charles owner sleeping that long is very surprising though and probably won't be seeing any ROI in this league.

He just went at 11.03 in a FBG FPC draft this afternoon. Charles fell to 4.11.
Both amazing values in my opinion. Charles basically in the 5th makes for a solid risk/reward proposition in my opinion.  With the news today- I find it baffling that Ware is finding his way in double digit rounds still. I think anything passed the 8th is highway robbery given the circumstances.

Nah JC is going to come back better, never suffer another non contact knee explosion ever, and they plan to give him the ball 25 times a game including GL carries because they don't have anybody worth a crap behind him and JC's not worth saving for the playoffs.  :loco:

This is why the same people are always in the playoffs. Ware's a stud for the next 3 weeks and then who knows but He's easily the #1 handcuff to own going into this season.

In dynasty it's even better because JC shows any regression and they cut him before next year to save some cap money.

Ware being projected as a RB1 this week pretty much anywhere you look.  If you've got him, you have to start him IMO.
In the only dynasty league where I own him, I also have David Johnson, Lamar Miller, Eddie Lacy and Jeremy Langford - so as much as I'd love to play him, I'd need to bench Lacy in order to do so. That's a tough call but may do it.
