Spider Sense- "VALUE" RBs (1 Viewer)

RB steals:

Chester Taylor - I think not only will he start they season, he'll finish it and catch lots of passes...

Ahman Green - Favre dumps to Green... repeat.

Dominic Rhodes - Joseph will not do as well as quickly. RBBC maybe but I don't think so.

Reggie Bush - Deuce will not start healthy and not play much. Brees is used to having LT... guess what?

Ron Dayne - Bigger, Stronger, Faster. Lots of Madden-talk about Dayne rumblin, stumblin... blah blah

all GREAT 3/4 round picks. I'm sure enough to start with QB/WRs for the first time EVER.

Not trying to argue. Just putting it in writing.

edited to ---value RBs---, not Sleeper... sheesh.

i dont think any of those guys qualify as "sleepers". a real sleeper is someone like Leon Washington, or Justin Fargas :bag:

Of that group...I like Chester the most. Minny has assembled a line and lead blockers that should present some nice holes for the shifty CT to run through.

Mike Bell or Jerious Norwood.

How about Najeh Davenport.

Sure the guy cant stay healthy, but has done well when starting. Most drafts I see have Gado going significantly higher but from what Ive been hearing from TC, isnt Davenport STILL the 2nd option behind Green?

Why do you share this? Well youre probably looking to impress by spitting out otherwise known conclusions.

And yes I agree, your spider sense is going crazy.

-those are players that you should be fast to pick up after the draft. I wouldn't waste a draft spot on them as I'd bet they'd be on the wire for a later date.

I've always tried to draft based on my league's perception of value. In other words- I'm in two leagues that sscore the same but I'm targeting Lamont Jordan in the late first of one and the early second of the other.

Justin Fargas will likely go undrafted in all of my leagues (I don't remember him being drafted last year and that was before his disappointing season last year...)

Don't you mean the #2 option? :bamdumclash:

I think he is saying that at thend of the 1st/2nd round rather than trying to push a RB he is thinking Peyton Manning and maybe T.Owens or something like that. 3rd/4th come back with a RB/RB punch...Bush will be gone, Taylor likely too. Green is more of a 5th round pick but you almost have to take him to ensure you get 1 of the backs you like...I would not draft ROn Dayne without Tatum Bell already...Rhodes will be losing a lot of touches to Addai.I think the better choices are DeShaun/DeAngelo in the 3rd and 5th...or maybe a Corey Dillon...then lock up maroney or something...you will have a nice 1-2 punch at QB/WR1...but remember, you are going to have weeks where Owens only produces 3-5 points...maybe Manning has a couple of normal weeks as well...that leads to losses...then even when they go off you lose because you run into a buzzsaw of a team with a superior RB1/RB2 combo that you cannot overcome.Painful but true.

the real sleeper is Mike Anderson (RB, Balt)enjoy having the Ravens starting RB!
Musa Smith is reportedly pushing Mike Anderson for the backup role in Baltimore.Considering the money Anderson received, it would be a surprise to see Smith pass him on the depth chart. Anderson owners shouldn't worry yet. Rookie P.J. Daniels will probably only be used on passing downs.Source: Baltimore Sun

Isn't Billick extremely loyal to Jamal Lewis? Do you really believe that Anderson will unseat him as the starter, assuming Lewis stays healthy?

IMO MA is the better RB at this time. If Lewis plays like last season he should be 2nd string by week 3. This is a business not a buddys league.

That's the thing... Lewis will not play like last year. Last year he put no effort into it, because he wanted a new contract. He openly admitted he was trying to avoid injury first and foremost. This year he will be back to his old self, and with McNair there the Ravens O should really click, I think.

I disagree with every one of these. :D

A sleeper is not someone you take in the 3rd/4th round...

And welcome to your first year of fantasy football... I'm sure it will be a sleeper.... literally

Here's mine:Maurice DrewCedric HoustonRyne Moats
Not too sure on Moats, But Drew and Houston I have to agree have big time sleeper written all over them. I am also still a fan of Gado after last years performance and both the chumps in front of him not at 100%. And I am sure I will get some grief for it, but I like Cobbs in denver at some point to get the rock. After I saw them start Droughns and Griffin I just think the coaching staff in denver loves to get the guy in there that no one was expecting.

I think the concept of "sleeper RB" has to be revised somewhat this year. I believe the term typically refers to players who other owners fall asleep on that can be had for cheap with potential for fantasy production leading to a starting contribution on one's fantasy squad. That almost always translates into rookies or unproven players buried one or two deep on the roster.

To me, there are a number of veteran players who have been traditionally sound fantasy contributors at RB who are being overlooked for one reason or another this year and are falling further down on draft boards than they should. Chief among them - Warrick Dunn, Fred Taylor, Curtis Martin, and Ahman Green are players that I feel come with big risks, but depending on where they can be had - make excellent value plays as upside RB3's or in Dunn's case RB2.

Under the more traditional application, my favorite young backup RB is Michael Turner. If LT gets hurt again, then Turner could be a steal off the waiver wire or as a late round draft pick (assuming he can be had before the astute LT owner handcuffs him).

Considering how much attention backups to prolific backs generally get, its kind of shocking Michael Turner doesnt get more mention. Im thinking there are so many question marks with unknown quantities at starter this year (and rookies drafted high behind mediocre backs) that Turner just isnt seeing the spotlight he probly should. Guy has been electric when he touches the ball. RB55 for a guy one bad step away from a shot at the LT2 mantle? Is Duce Staley or Jerious Norwood really a better roll of the dice at that point in the draft?

Deep Sleeper..............Arliss Beach GB
....or Ricky Bell and Fred Lane. Now there's a couple deep sleepers for you.How about Noah Herron? I also  Michael Turner, but more so for 2007 and beyond. He's a RFA at the end of 2006, and an UFA at the end of 2007.

:goodposting: MOP, this is exactly what I'm considering. I've read in various magazines(if I'm wrong please correct me) that Carolina has the 2nd easiest schedule against the run this season. Thus I'm targeting Foster as my RB2 and grab Williams later. If I can't that scenario, then Dillon and Maroney. NE is supposed to have the 8th easiet rushing schedule. Those pair have a great chance to outperform their ADP and I believe Foster can finish well inside the Top 15 (12-13) if he can stay healthy. Either way instead of drafting Julius Jones or someone else like that, I'm going to try to hitch my wagons to the Panthers or the Patriots ground game.

I'm wondering about Moats, too. I have Westbrook targeted as a possible RB1, definite RB2 (I draft 9th of 10 in a PPC league, before you think I'm insane). With Moats having momentum, though, I think taking Westbrook instead of a top tier WR for round 1 pick would be a mistake. But then again, that might work out well to get Westbrook as an RB2. He has some huge potential in PPC, and Moats is a great handcuff and potential sleeper.

Sorry folks sleeper is the wrong word.

All I'm saying is that Chester Taylor is going to finish top 10 this year... Rhodes too... Bush too... (Yes that means that bumps Ronnie and Rudi out... and lowers Dominic Davis, Kevin Jones, Julius, etc.)

I'm not looking at deeper value like a Derrick Blaylock... but first round quality at a 3rd round price.

my bad.

You've been here long enough to know that this isn't being very excellant... What's up with some of you guys today? Is it the heat?
