Sporting News Magazine (1 Viewer)

I have a subscription to the Sporting News that is scheduled to expire next year. In the looking at their daily webpaper the past couple of days it looks like they are indicating that the print magazine will be going to a bi-weekly format starting next month. I am at work so every link I click on the SportingNews.com website gets blocked.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone had any information on this and/or thoughts on how they would handle existing subscriptions (do they get extended to cover the mags you would lose due to this change)?

I talked to Ed Baker, the publisher of Sporting News Magazine and here's his official answer to the subscription question:

"You will receive the same number of issues you signed up for. Example: if you signed up for a year (52X), you now basically have a two year subscription. It's all based on issues served"

That bums me out. Sporting News is one of the few magazines I still read in print form, largely because of it's current timing. Turning it more into a retrospective piece with stale information doesn't appeal to me at all. But I think I'm at least 3 years paid up so I guess I'll now have 6 years to decide if I like the new direction. :goodposting:

Yeah, a lot will depend on the focus and specifics of the print mag but so far the daily digital edition has filled my need for timely information. If I can get ~20 pages of that a day, I am already ahead of what I was getting out of a weekly print magazine (not to mention I'm getting fresh info, not waiting until the mag hits my mailbox) and whatever I can get out of the bi-weekly mag is just a bonus. I also was paid up into 2011, so I've got a long while before I need to worry about re-upping.
