Stafford, 49ers. (1 Viewer)

Eminence

Well, the Lions won't be running. So if they score, it will be all Stafford. Start him.

Brees made the 49ers look mortal in playoffs, is Stafford elite or not?

Stafford was sacked 5 times last year against SF IIRC. I think the defense will give him fits all day with a couple of INTs added in.

This is more of a gut feeling because everything on paper supports the 9ers harassing Stafford all night long. But I think the Lions win this and it's their defense that has Alex Smith on the run.

Here's Stafford's stats from last year's game:

5 Sacks Against, 2 Passing TDs, 293 Passing Yards, 9 Rushing Yards, 0 Interceptions, 0 Fumbles Lost (to Opponent), 19.62 Fantasy Points

If he duplicates that tomorrow night, I'll be happy.

People make SF out to be the greatest ever, where people won't score anything against them! They can put the clamp down on you, but the more elite offenses (and I would almost put my Lions there) will still score points. Though DET lost last year, they still put some points on the board. Stafford will struggle at times, I can even forsee a 2 or 3 INT game. But I don't think 250+ yards and 2+ TDs is out of the realm of possibility.

SF is going to trap the hell out of the DET DTs and gash them up the middle. At least 150 on the ground, keeping the pass rush honest and setting up play action.

5 sacks in a cadence friendly environment. I see no reason that they don't put even more pressure on him this time.
Hopefully the home crowd now knows when to make noise and when not to make noise, lol. I think the TOP will favor SF this game which is always huge, and I think they can live with making Stafford beat them with his arm.
