Based on this comment I am going to assume you have never paid attention to how much JJ hates giving away any plot points, no matter how minute. I can safely say he would never give anything away major even if a gun was pointed to his head.

Releasing these trailers is painful enough for him.

That is not to say Luke may or may not die in this one. Just that there was nothing in the trailer that gave that plot point away.

Pretty much anything is in play for Luke at this point. JJ knew exactly what he was doing by keeping him out of the poster and trailers, which was to create banter and chatter about this movie.

No reasonable suggestion for Luke can be right or wrong at this point since we have almost nothing to go on.
