Hold on.....the seats? You can now choose your seats like in a sporting event? When did this happen?Got the seats and time and theater I wanted for Sat night the 19th.
Haven't seen any official announcement on it yet.I thought they were doing a Boba Fett movie. Did that get sidetracked?
Oh yea, most of the theaters switched over to big ol' lazy boy recliners and you have to pick your seats at purchase.Hold on.....the seats? You can now choose your seats like in a sporting event? When did this happen?Got the seats and time and theater I wanted for Sat night the 19th.
Not a fan imo, but it appears to be the way things are going. We have seats now for the 19th, but I had to go with a matinee to avoid some crappy front row seats, or having to split 4 tickets into two pair.Oh yea, most of the theaters switched over to big ol' lazy boy recliners and you have to pick your seats at purchase.Hold on.....the seats? My opinion is that if it is not purposely shot in 3D - ie Hugo, Gravity, Life of Pi, Avatar then it is just a gimmick so they can charge $3-4+ for tickets. Don't care if it is the best post-3D money can buy, it still adds zip to the movie. This is going to be the biggest movie of all-time and Disney has unlimited funds. They are not going to roll this out with some ####house 3D.
I am the opposite. I have better things to do than stand in line for 2hours so I don't have to sit in the front row. I am all for knowing when and where I am going to be sitting. Not a fan imo, but it appears to be the way things are going. This is getting just a touch out of hand, no? He had like 3 minutes of air time.I thought they were doing a Boba Fett movie. Did that get sidetracked?
Tempted but I hate lines (waiting to get in and get a good seat which will require at least an hour standing around time IMO), and huge crowds in theaters. I can't stand all the chatter boxes you hear in a big release. One week will be fine and I will avoid all spoilers.I have 3 tickets in hand for Friday at 7:10pm.
I went for 2D since 3D gives me headaches if I watch for too long.
In the theater I purchased the tickets from, twice as many showings will be in 3d as in 2d so if you want 2d, I would recommend getting tickets early since the showings are limited.
========================
I personally enjoy opening night/weekend for movies but even if I did not I think I still would chose opening weekend for this one because I think the Luke reveal will be impossible to avoid if you wait until week 2.
I am going to go into a media black out from the Thursday on in the hopes I don't get any spoilers.
Bobba Fett and Darth Maul.....the legends continue. LOL.This is getting just a touch out of hand, no? He had like 3 minutes of air time.I thought they were doing a Boba Fett movie. Did that get sidetracked?
As opposed to having to show up really early to a sold-out show to try to get 4 seats together? I like it a lot as I can pick my ideal seat even if it means going to a different showing and guarantee we can sit as a family. Not a fan imo, but it appears to be the way things are going. true, though I think SW could be done well in 3D. We'll do 2D first but maybe go back in a month for 3D.Agreed. Seeing it in good ol fashioned 2D.
3D is one of the biggest scams in town unless it fits that exact bill of being filmed that way (The Hobbit trilogy was gorgeous in 3D).
I love the energy of opening night but you are right that there always seems to be some dildo who was not interested in the movie and just went with his friends and spends the whole time on twitter on his phone.Tempted but I hate lines (waiting to get in and get a good seat which will require at least an hour standing around time IMO), and huge crowds in theaters. One week and I will have the environment I want for pure enjoyment and no nonsense around me.
From the sound of things, you'll need to be there 8 hours early to avoid sitting in front and if my instincts are correct, there is zero chance of this crowd being drunk. Dorks don't do booze....they'll be hyped up on Jolt Cola and spazzing out on Sour Patch Kids.So I'm thinking of surprising my son with tickets to the 2AM showing on the 18th. How early do you think I need to show up for unassigned seats and what are the chances the crowd will be a drunken mess?
IMAX you can.Had no idea you could select seats.
true, but he's one of the favorite characters. Could be done well, kid grows up without a father, chooses to become a bounty hunter. Total geek convention.

okay, so my son will fit in nicely. If they are going to make a movie out of characters who got no more than a one line mention ("many Bothans died...."), then Boba certainly is a decent target if they are looking for something after episode 9.true, but he's one of the favorite characters. These are the same geeks who were throwing tomatoes at the screen after an hour into Episode I.

I sold off pretty much the entire collection around 1990 for $200Bobba Fett and Darth Maul.....the legends continue. LOL.I distinctly remember collecting enough proof of purchase card backs from Kenner to mail in and get my Bobba Fett figure!!! I also still own the Slave One ship from Kenner. I have a pretty awesome collection of Star Wars toys...all mine from my childhood in played in condition. But still....cool stuff I shared with my own son until he grew out of it (which happened quickly). Now it's back in the bins up in the attic. This is getting just a touch out of hand, no? I've probably seen that a dozen times now and yet when he says
In 1999 I slept out overnight for Phantom Menace tickets. This was one of many terrible decisions I've made in my life. However, at least my friends and I were the only ones who brought a card table, poker chips, and two bottles of bourbon. I stayed up all night and won enough to pay for my tickets and breakfast the next morning. So I guess your instincts are sort of right: 99% of Star Wars fans can't handle their booze. It was the first (and last) time in my life I was member of the 1%.From the sound of things, you'll need to be there 8 hours early to avoid sitting in front and if my instincts are correct, there is zero chance of this crowd being drunk. I'm sure Disney execs are quaking in their Brooks Brothers suits over this. Well, that is when they're not rolling in mountains of $100 bills. This is my friend. Huge Star Wars fan that has read the entire EU. So its his protest or something to wait till week 2 to watch it since Disney scrapped the EU."I read all the marvel comic books about Star Wars but I'm holding out till week 2" - angry guy on the Internet
When I can buy my seats for my local theater here in Podunk, PA, it's definitely a thing.Had no idea you could select seats.

Oh man, I didn't even consider this.Tickets on Sunday night means total innernets and TV ban for about 72 hours. Uggh.
Much rather sit in back than in front.Got tickets for Friday 6:45 pm show. I showed my boys (ages 10 and 8) the trailer and then told then I got tickets. They are almost as excited as I am.
And yes I got to choose my seats, though by the time I got them all that were left was front 2 rows and the outer edges toward the back. I chose the back, and I'm sure it will be just fine.
They dont actually. The studios determine what gets shown, so when a blockbuster like this comes out theyll send extra hard drives of star wars to the multiplexes so they can show in multiple theaters. The other studios wont release much else so the deck is cleared. There will be your normal filler movies but an 8 plex will have 2-4 screens on star wars for 2-3 wks. In return the studios will take 65% of all ticket sales, which is why your $1 popcorn costs $9.I imagine every theatre will be 50% Star Wars for the first two weeks. I'm sure they have contractual obligations to other studios to show their crap, but they'll find a way around that.I have a feeling that most theaters are going to commit a few extra rooms for this as the day gets closer. No reason to have less then a 1/4 filled room for some geriatric flick when people are clawing at the doors to get inCan you ####ing nerds stop buying up all the opening weekend tickets? I want to take my wife to see this on that first Saturday but I'm not sure if I'm going to be in Orlando or at the beach nor what time we'll be able to go. If it's sold out all day, I'm liable to end up wandering around watching her spend all my money on gifts for her giant family. So knock it off. TIA.Hate to give away this but.. Go to a small town near you that has theaters.. ..
The last 3 releases were sold out well in advance in the Twin Cities, yet my Dad and I walked up opening day and purchased tickets without any issues in our "small town".![]()
