STAR WARS: Episode 7 (All-Time #1 opening box office.) (1 Viewer)

The reviews start to trickle out this time next week. I probably won't read any of them but it will be interesting to see what grades they get. I bet it is around 90% on rotten tomatoes.

Don't worry about avoiding reviews, there are no advance screenings for anyone.

More interestingly, though, Disney won't even screen the movie early for regular press rounds, instead opting to keep the movie on almost total lock down until its release.

This could be phantom menace 2 the rise of Jar-Jar and it's going to sell out the entire first weekend regardless of the reviews.

Point being I don't think they are worried.

 
Bought my IMAX tickets (reserved seating too which rocks) for 10am show 12/18

I remember getting spoiled about darth maul. There was some show on FX or something just about the movie. They had a segment where Rhazel and Michael Winslow had a lightsaber battle where they did the sound effects with their mouths. Over that was some type of song that basically went over the plot of the movie where they said "and darth maul dies."

Pretty sure all the scripts had been leaked for the prequels as well. I haven't looked at all this time, but it seems this film is on lockdown.

 
Looked through the cast and crew on IMDb and didn't see Jar Jar, so feeling ok about this one.

Greg Grunberg is the only obvious miscast in the bunch. And that's only because he's miscast in any role requiring an actor.

No doubt. I knew the entire movies months before I seen them whereas it's nothing but fanboy speculation about TFA. In this day of 24/7 media it's pretty impressive they kept the wraps on it.

I'm sure there's NDAs for everyone from Mark Hamill down to the guy who brought pizza for lunch.

 
I'm seeing the movie Thursday at 7pm. When does the movie release in Europe? I follow a lot of people from Europe on twitter, due to soccer, and I'm a bit worried about getting anything spoiled. I guess the safe thing is to go into a media blackout for the entirety of Thursday.

LA premiere the 14th.

UK premiere on the 15th

Europe opens everywhere on the 16th.

It is going to be hard to stay away from spoilers all week. 1 day is not too bad.

 
I probably am just going to put my phone in a lead box, turn off power at the breaker and go camp out in my basement bathroom in the dark for the 4 days preceding the first showing until I go to the theater. En route to the theater, I'm hiring some thugs from Bay Ridge to kidnap me from my basement, throw a black bag over my head, shuttle me out to a black Suburban, and speed me to the theater. They've been instructed not to leave my side or remove the bag until the previews are over.

Yea that one is cringe worthy. If that was ever written down hopefully it was in Arndt's first draft that was burned.

 
I will avoid any Star Wars threads....so I will check back into the spoiler thread once I see the film.

We are going to watch Episode 1-6 in order (prequels first). I will try hard not to fall asleep in Episode 2 (such crap). But the end of episode 2 is worth it LOL.

Anyway. This film looks like it will be the real deal.

Made a spoiler thread. Post there if you've seen it or heard news from the Euro release. Hopefully we can avoid the big twist.

 
So we see a storm trooper fighting Finn with some sort of lightsaber/lightning rod while Finn is swinging a lightsaber and Finn was a storm trooper. Is it possible they cloned Jedi and put them in storm trooper outfits?

Yeah, like the guy who posted the "Walter White Dies" thread the night of the Breaking Bad finale. Even if you try to avoid certain threads, all it takes is one dutchbag to ruin it. I'm going to avoid the FFA entirely (and most of the internet) until I've seen it.
