Star Wars The Last Jedi Episode 8 thread: this thread sucks, you should avoid it even after you've seen the movie (1 Viewer)

Agree but I caught myself thinking right after it happened - why didn't she do this a few minutes ago before they killed all those people?  Still very cool scene.
That was the first thing I thought of once she decided to do it.  I just figured it took her that long to come up with the idea.  Once I realized what she was going to do I was excited to see what would actually happen.  I was very pleased with the result.  One of the coolest scenes in the franchise.

The milking part was odd but it did two things, showed us how he's surviving there and that he was trying to drive Rey away from him.

Very cool scene and actually saved the movie IMO. but i was wondering ....ok, you have this huge ship with a sheild, at least try and move it between the cannons and the transports to block the blasts?

I think there were a lot of things that could have bee done differently there but they obviously wanted to diminish the rebel forces as much as possible to make things look very bleak for them.  It's just setting up for the next movie.

They don't have to put her into the movie OR kill her off.  They could have her off on some remote planet, still leading the rebels without being wherever the action onscreen is occurring.

We watched 90% of ANH without having any idea who was leading the rebels.

And you know for the most part they’ve done the old school fans a solid with Rogue One and The Force Awakens and the fourth coming Han Solo movie.
They did us a solid?  A solid?

Listen, pal.  I waited my whole childhood for Star Wars to blow up in secondary media.  TV shows, spinoff movies, sequels...screwed.  Screwed time and time and time again.  The biggest of all was waiting over 15 years for a sequel only to be given something that was so poorly written and acted as the prequels.

Plus we have all the money now.  I want more than a solid.  I want some respect.  Disney's doing Marvel right for my generation.  Let's see them try a little harder with Star Wars.  That's all I ask.  Just a little more.

Relax, Fredo

Arguably the best books written in the old EU.  They are no longer canon.   But pieces of them have been lifted for various new EU projects.
I don't remember whether the storyline came from books or comics or what that I read when I was a kid, but I remember there was a really cool story about a legendary Imperial prison for rebels that turned out to be an entire buried Super Star Destroyer (like Vader's huge ship) that had been secretly built underground on Coruscant. Eventually, all hell breaks loose and of course it rips free of the planet's surface and the fractured Empire rallies around it. Always thought that was a really cool visual.

To be fair, this last Star Wars was probably better than 1/2 the Marvel movies.

Interesting.  I was expecting them to be older.  I just looked at my library system and I see the trilogy of books being from the 90s?
Yeah Timothy zahn.  Heir to the empire, dark force rising, and the last command are the three if memory serves.

Set 5 years after return of the Jedi

I was about to ask if they were about the blue dude from Rebels.  Have spent the last few hours watching the latest season.
Rebels is a really good tv show.   I am very interested to see how they end things (this will be the last season).  There are some rumors that they will end the show during the battle in Rogue One.

I'm wondering too.

Did The Ghost appear in Rogue One?  I remember hearing some people debating if it would or did or something.

I keep seeing this referred to. What is EU?
Expanded Universe.  It means things outside of the core movies (typically TV, comics, novels etc).

The entire EU was wiped out during the sale to Disney.  I believe the new EU starts with Star Wars Clone Wars.
