Steve Smith has message for FredEx (1 Viewer)

sounds like smith is angry at being a 3rd round pick and having to work his way up to the top, and that freddie came in as a 1st rounder and was handed and nice contract and hasnt done anything, steve smith shouldnt even be talking I dont get him, there others outspoken first rounders who have been a bust and talkshut up steve smith, (numbers arent everything) if freddie goes somewhere else next year and is a #1/2 i think he could put up decent numbers, if freddie goes out and really helps his team win the big game freddie got him beat

so i want to get this straight.. your saying that its ok to put a coworker in the hospital if they say something that you take as "disrespectful"?
This is a question which is impossible to answer.
 RAIDERNATION, I just want you to know that I think you're a great receiver. I've never seen you drop a catch, and if you do I'm sure it's the QB's fault. Please don't hurt me.

This is a question which is impossible to answer. It all depends on the severity of what was said. Where the inflammatory comments occurred is inconsequential to me. I think you're getting too hung up on the fact that the person doing the disrespecting is a coworker. Because he works with me, that gives him the license to say anything he pleases? Help me understand.
I don't think it is impossible to understand at all. Raidernation acting out in a manor so violent as to sending a guy to the hospital and mangling his face should only occur in a self defense situation where someone has come after you with a weapon or something along those lines. It seems to me Steve Smith has a bit of a short fuse. In my circumstance even if someone called my mother a whore or something along those lines I could think of a number of things that I could do that would make more sense than what Steve Smith did:A) laugh at the person and say "your mother is a whore too", this would be a situation of two grown adults acting like children and so this could have maybe lightened up the situation.

B) I could physically grab the guy and tell him to never do that again but to go as far as beatting down another teamate younger than me and sending him to the hospital, COME ON. I mean maybe even just giving him one punch may have been sufficient enough

C) Laugh it off, I am sure the rookie meant no harm by it, even though it may have been a mistake whatever he did say or even if he did. Laugh it off and be the responsible one.

D) Let the coaching staff deal with it. Obviously if the guy is calling your mother a whore he has some problems especially if he is on your team so let the coaching staff deal with it.

Both of them were at practice so I am asuming no drugs or alcohol was involved. I mean I have heard of teamates getting in a scrap before but this takes it to a new level.

It does not give him the right to speak to you how he pleases. Speaking to you is not right and will be dealt with accordingly. Which means you dont get involved. If this was in the middle of the street Steve Smith would most likelt be in jail.

I come back here, periodically, to laugh at each of JAA's two mouths. I like to see which one he's talking out of today...
Thanks for the kind words Sonny, your lack of football knowledge is what Im here for

 Sounds like Smith was just 'dishing back' some humorous comments back at The Fred. Hey, if The Fred wants to declare himself the People's Champ and personnally thank his hands for being so great then The Fred should be able to handle the fact that another NFL player may point out the facts of his career. Plus, I could understand why some players would be a little ticked off that a 1st Round pick that has done nothing in 4 years feels justified in running his mouth and getting air time for his mouth and not his production.

Smith was ANSWERING a question that was asked by a reporter. Much like The Fred's comment about not knowing the names of the DBs was in response to a question. Smith did not launch a sneak attack on The Fred. The Fred made comments (while funny, they could also be seen as being dumb) to get some media attention and get his name 'out there'. By making those comments, The Fred opened the door for other players to comment.
shut up steve smith,(numbers arent everything)
Hehehe...The Fred is probably very thankful for statements such as this.
if freddie goes somewhere else next year and is a #1/2 i think he could put up decent numbers
Hehehe...The Fred had three years (after being selected in the 1st round) to become a #1/2 WR on a winning team that runs a passing offense with a Pro Bowl QB. Heck, he had this whole year to become a #2 WR on a winning team that runs a passing offense with a Pro Bowl QB that also had T.O. as the #1 WR and he still couldn't get it done. Please answer this for me. Why do you feel A)The Fred would be the #1/2 WR on a different team (I assume you are talking NFL here and not the Arena League) and B) if A were to happen why should we think his production on a lesser team with lesser talent would be that much different than his current production. Thanks.

Being in the Superbowl means nothing if you didn't really contribute so some player along for the ride to the Superbowl has NO right to talk smack. That is exactly what Freddie is doing.
I think you are mistaken...... Not that I am a Freddie Mitchel fan however, in two playoff games he has 7 catches for 85 yds and a touchdown. That is hardly worth calling someone out and saying they are riding their team to the superbowl. I mean granted Freddie makes a fool of himself with his actions he has done more in the playoffs than many of the great recievers have done in the NFL this year. Freddie should thank his team for getting this far however he should not be penalized for playing on a good team. It seems to me Steve Smith should worry about his recovery and next season as Muhammed did a wonderful job without him there this year. In fact, Steve might be number 2 there next year. I think Friday_Frenzy you are jealous that the Eagles are in the superbowl while your team had another dismil playoff run. Do you have a close friend who likes the Eagles or something>?>>
Yup, he sure did contribute in the big game when was back to his original 3rd position on the depth chart. ONE CATCH!!!! Yup, he sure deserves to talk smack. LOL.
