Stevie Johnson mocks Burress shooting himself (1 Viewer)

Two problems with it:

1. Since Burress wasn't on the Jets when it happened, so the fans could care less

2. If you are going to dance like that, you can't drop two passes on the game ending drive and essentially cost your team the game

Funny. Too bad it may have cost them the game. Well that and his horrible drop on the last drive.

He was given a 15 yard taunting penalty on it and on the kickoff from the 20 the kicker tried to put something extra on the kickoff and shanked it. Resulting in a short field for the Jets and a quick TD.

Not to mention being a team on an epic losing skid, which includes a couple humiliating blowouts. Sure, it was funny, but you don't do stuff like that when your team is losing like they are, due in large part to the offense. It makes you look like a selfish clown.

He is a selfish clown. He is like Terrell Owens with half the talent. Actually that might be disreptful to Owens because at least Owens worked hard off the field in practice.

Going to have to agree with selfish clown designation.

But maybe he'll clear up this simple misunderstanding on twitter.

I'm going with very funny. What's so inappropriate about it? Burress shot himself, he didn't kill anyone.
Mocking other players is juvenile. Especially when they beat you handily already this season, beat you this week, and your team is rivaling the Colts for futility over the last six weeks. They were outscored 79 to 15 the two games prior to this game. Time to act like a professional, keep your head down and do your job. Save the obnoxious for when your team isn't a punchline, if you just have to be obnoxious.

I thought it was funny, but I could see this really not going over well with other NFL players. You're making funny of something that Plax was sent to prison for. I would imagine that would hit a nerve, but who knows?

IT was funny but would have been a lot funnier if it was after catching that wide open crossing pattern on the final drive instead of dropping it and costing his team the game. In case you missed it he made a horrible drop on the last drive that rivaled his drop from last year vs Pittsburgh.

That's my main problem - he's probably better known for dropping balls than for TD's.I love a good TD dance by the way, but feel like you have to "earn" it by playing well way more often than you screw up.

I dont care for it if u can shut people up with ur play. But god caused him to drop 2 more passes today. At least thats what we will hear in twitter...

dont understand why this is so controversial
I don't think it is and most would probably agree with me, but I think it's thread worthy. A no talent butt clown does a very funny td celebration then drops a pass in the middle of the field which could have possibly been ran in for 6 to seal the game. Then a few plays later drops a pass in the endzone to win it.

doubtful he scores after the drop as he would have ran right into Jim Leonhard.the play in the end zone was not a drop. it was behind him and not really a catchable ball.he played great against Revis all day. ball just went through his hands on the drop. sucks but it happens all the time. :lmao: at no talent butt clown. everybody lighting up Revis like that these days?

agreed. he pretty much owns Revis, based on his last two games against him.

We talkin Burress though. Most players I would agree but Burress has been a clown his whole career and should be treated as such.

It was pretty much the ultimate in disrespect.

I don't know what's funnier, his TD celebration or his complete inability to catch the ball when it matters most
Whats funnier are people that somehow blame a player for losing a game when that player went 8/75/1 vs the best cornerback in football.
Spoken like a fantasy owner. If you watched the game you'll see he dropped and easy, easy, easy, easy catch on a deep crossing route on the final drive. If he didn't score on that play he would have at least gone for like 40 yards and been down inside the 10. It was a drop as bad as the one he made against Pittsburgh last year. That bad. IT was blown coverage on the play and he was wide open.

Agreed. This guy just proved he's an every week start no matter the match up.
LOL. Like that the 2 previous weeks where he combined for 24 yards.

The first drop might not have been a TD. The pass in the endzone at the end was a drop, it was in his hands and he dropped it. He had a great day against Revis. I don't blame him for the loss but the ball hit his hands in the endzone to win it, he dropped it, and it was catchable.

he was double covered, got open and Fitz threw it behind him. It hit one hand reached behind him while he was running from right to left.would have been a miracle catch.

He was battling an injury, but I would say yes. Including those 2 weeks. Who do you have on your roster who scores big every week in every game all year long?

He is on pace for like 900 yards. He hasn't had a 100 yard game yet this season. He has had quite a few TD's which is the only thing that has saved him from being a bust. In his last 8 games he has 378 yards and 3 TD's including today.

+1Besides after every. single. play. of the game some clown is showboating. This is today's NFL.
This was more than just showboating.
Creative showboating?
I suppose it does show some creativity the way it both cost his team 15 yards and made him look like a fool. Again, sure, it was kind of funny, but the point is that he shouldn't have done it. He's a talented guy who shows flashes of greatness. But he's an idiot.

He only had one drop on the Final Drive and it wasn't the one in the Endzone. It was on the crossing pattern when he was wide open and the ball hit him right in the hands on a perfectly thrown pass that hit him in stride. Absolutely horrible drop that rivaled his drop from last year vs Pittsburgh.

of course. we all watched it.if you read the post I was replying to, Hugh is saying he dropped the pass in the end zone. that's simply not true. all of his momentum at that point was going towards the middle of the field and he had to stop and reach behind him just to get a hand on the ball. I don't think any WR catches that pass.the drop sucked. he tried to catch it away from his body and it went right through his hands. sucks that he lost concentration at that point in the game.he still had a great game.

Yea, because he's the only WR in the NFL to ever drop a pass..Whats your point.?.. #### happens.. He's still a great WR.. And not even close to the worst TD celebration.. Shouldn't have even been penalized..

I'm assuming some people are "chronology challenged".

You celebrate a TD when you score one. You may not get another TD opportunity later... or you might. I'm guessing you don't tend to factor in passes you will fail to catch in the future when you're deciding whether or not to do your celebration dance. I'm pretty sure you just go ahead and do it.

We need a 'stupid things Steve Johnson says/does' thread then merge this one and the Twitter one.

He's TO 2.0 He has to have his name in the media.

Do you ever watch football? There are countless plays, from every player, that you can claim 'cost' them the game. Missed blocks, dropped balls, missed reads, slipping on a play, etc. But it's cool, you selectively pick plays that Stevie failed to make to prove some terrible point.
