Stormy Daniels scandal thread (2 Viewers)

Karen McDougal story now out in the New Yorker.

>>Trump and McDougal began an affair, which McDougal later memorialized in an eight-page, handwritten document provided to The New Yorker by John Crawford, a friend of McDougal’s. When I showed McDougal the document, she expressed surprise that I had obtained it but confirmed that the handwriting was her own.<<

If it turns out there really is a special leave-behind on that gold dress I may die of schadenfreude.

Holy ####### ####, you think someone pays 130k to a pronstar as a preplanned stepping stone to deflating a scandal before it even starts?
No, try to keep up. It happened, they got caught. Now I merely suggest that if they were to do this intentionally it could lead to a win-win scenario in their opinion.  Why else would Cohen come out of nowhere and state something so obviously false?

Just a thought for discussion, didn’t mean to rile up the resident board genius.

Afterward, McDougal wrote, she “went to see him every time he was in LA (which was a lot).” Trump, she said, always stayed in the same bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel and ordered the same meal—steak and mashed potatoes—and never drank. McDougal’s account is consistent with other descriptions of Trump’s behavior. Last month, In Touch Weekly published an interview conducted in 2011 with Stephanie Clifford in which she revealed that during a relationship with Trump she met him for dinner at a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where Trump insisted they watch “Shark Week” on the Discovery Channel. Summer Zervos, a former contestant on “The Apprentice,” alleged that Trump assaulted her at a private dinner meeting, in December of 2007, at a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Trump, Zervos has claimed, kissed her, groped her breast, and suggested that they lie down to “watch some telly-telly.” After Zervos rebuffed Trump’s advances, she said that he “began thrusting his genitals” against her. (Zervos recently sued Trump for defamation after he denied her account.) All three women say that they were escorted to a bungalow at the hotel by a Trump bodyguard, whom two of the women have identified as Keith Schiller.
- Schiller is always there. Always.

Considering all the people who seem to care more about legality than anything, I'm surprised people aren't making a bigger deal of the fact Trump frequently tries to pay for sex.

I bet she cares insofar as it’s pretty embarrassing for her.
I bet she cares insofar as it pertains to the prenup.

FWIW, Sam Stein (I think) had the best take I've heard yet on why Daniels was paid off, etc.  It's not to hide the story per se from the public, but to prevent her from testifying in any divorce proceeding since there are probably carve outs for cheating.  Being the cheap guy he is, Trump doesn't want to pay.

It's just a snip, but I don't remember seeing this before:

Another adult-film actress, Dawn Vanguard, whose screen name is Alana Evans, claimed that Trump invited her to join them in his hotel room that weekend. A third adult-film performer, Jessica Drake, alleged that Trump asked her to his hotel room, met her and two women she brought with her in pajamas, and then “grabbed each of us tightly in a hug and kissed each one of us without asking for permission.” He then offered Drake ten thousand dollars in exchange for her company. (Trump denied the incident.)
- So yeah.

Otoh he seems more of the variety where he dangles career help and free condos with no intention of ever delivering.

It was in the previous story about Stormy Daniels.  And according to McDougal he tried to pay her after they first had sex too, although it was unsolicited and she refused.  She made it sound like it was standard operating procedure for him:

He offered me money,” she wrote. “I looked at him (+ felt sad) + said, ‘No thanks - I’m not ‘that girl.’ I slept w/you because I like you - NOT for money’ - He told me ‘you are special.’ ”
She's special seems to mean "the other women sleep with me so I'll pay them."

Doesn't bother me if someone does this, but considering all the people who excuse unethical behavior (not putting financial interests in a blind trust, self-dealing with campaign funds, meeting with the Russians to hear their offer of dirt) on the grounds that it's not technically a crime, seems like the opposite should be true about this, which is technically a crime even if I don't find it unethical.

There's also the fact that this sort of thing is pretty good blackmail material and if the National Enquirer had it it's a safe bet that foreign intelligence services have it too.  Of course at this point if you don't already think the president is compromised you're living in a fantasy world.

FWIW, I'm not trying to excuse Trump's behaviour in any manner, but this was pretty SOP for NY Wall Street-ish/VIPs bigwigs in 2000s (hell even now).  There's a whole cottage industry in the high end clubs here of matching these VIPs with girls (in most cases 18-22 year olds) with the guys picking up all their expenses.  They aren't as overt as Trump ("here's 10K for your time"), but the concept is the same.

Yeah I know, and I don't really have any problem with that.  I'm just saying that if you excuse clearly unethical behavior on the grounds that it's technically legal, you can't really excuse technically illegal behavior on the grounds that it's no big deal.  Can't have it both ways. Or at least you shouldn't be able to have it both ways, but nothing matters any more.

Yup...

This is a good and funny point because maybe Melania will come out being the woman making the most out of this - but let's keep in mind McDougal was bought out just 4 days before the election and Stormy did her agreement also just before the election. I don't think the pre-nup was the only thing on Trump's mind here.

I mean he even thought he was losing up until election day.  Of course he was thinking of the pre-nup.  I'm guessing this was SOP for saving the validity of it.

Seeing how cautious and selective Trump is about who he sleeps with and where he does it should end all those 'compromising video' stories.  They just don't seem believable now that we see the care he took to be discrete.

He's repented and God has forgiven him so this story means nothing.
Pete: Well I'll be a sonofa#####. Delmar's been saved.

Delmar O'Donnell: Well that's it, boys. I've been redeemed. The preacher's done warshed away all my sins and transgressions. It's the straight and narrow from here on out, and heaven everlasting's my reward.

Ulysses Everett McGill: Delmar, what are you talking about? We've got bigger fish to fry.

Delmar O'Donnell: The preacher says all my sins is warshed away, including that Piggly Wiggly I knocked over in Yazoo.

Ulysses Everett McGill: I thought you said you was innocent of those charges?

Delmar O'Donnell: Well I was lyin'. And the preacher says that that sin's been warshed away too. Neither God nor man's got nothin' on me now. C'mon in boys, the water is fine.

Only the best ...

Oh I'll just leave that there.

I'd just like to point out how central Schiller is to both this story and the Moscow "story".

That's not the issue Delmar. Even if that did put you square with the Lord, the State of Mississippi's a little more hard-nosed.
