Watched the Woodstock '99 doc last night.  Pretty good history refresher on just how messed up that festival was.  Both of the organizers were completely feckless and to this day, don't seem to understand how poorly they planned this thing out. Whole lot of angry white dudes who were made angrier and angrier by aggressive music, high temps, high priced bottled water, overflowing porta-potties, horrid conditions, drugs and booze.  Glad I missed out on this one....

A bunch of my friends went to that.  I was invited but really had no interest, even though I liked a lot of the music.  I'm also glad I missed that.

Just an FYI for those with kids and looking for something to watch.

I told my 8 year old about how I used to watch the Cosby Show as a kid. Now, I know he's all rapey and stuff, but that show brings back childhood memories.

Anyway, it's available on Amazon Prime and we started watching it. It really is a great show, totally rewatchable even today, and my 8 year old absolutely loves it.

Generation War (Amazon Prime Video) - a short miniseries (3 90-minute episodes) about 5 German friends who get together to party one night in 1941 before they all take different paths through the end of WW2. It’s not quite Band of Brothers, but it is pretty dang good. It’s interesting to see a different perspective from the German side, and also how the characters change over time. Give it a look if you like war period dramas. I’d give it maybe 7 out of 10.

Ted Lasso made up for last week’s poor episode with a great one tonight.
I liked both, but tonight was especially good.  The last 4:34 with one of my all time favorite tunes had me a bit misty.  I have some thoughts, but I will wait until everyone catches up.  You people need to be on this show.  So positive and fun.

Binged The Chair on Netflix last night - 6, 30-minute episodes.

Comedy-Drama with Sandra Oh where she becomes the Chair of the English department at a Liberal Arts university - dealing with a variety of culture/woke issues.

I liked it.  Its a little quirky, and took an interesting path to get to the end - and not what I was expecting.

We watched the first ep last night. Great cast and a decent start...will definitely watch the rest.

It’s the best! Can’t believe there are people who don’t like it.

I’m just waiting for the season to be over so I can binge it. My free year ended after the first season. I loved the show. It was a great break from the pandemic. There just aren’t great sit-coms anymore. I just looked at a list of the top comedies on TV right now and most of the top 20 were animated or been on a while shows. Just kind of a depressing list even though I like a lot of those shows.

I just did a 1990s Nielsen list and the top 20 lists were littered with Cheers, Frasier, Roseanne, Seinfeld, Friends, Cosby, Fresh Prince, Coach, Wings and tons more. Ted Lasso reminds me of those shows. Light hearted and funny even if an occasional show has some seriousness to it.

Honestly, I think there’s a ton of room for sit-coms right now. Ted Lasso got 20 Emmy award nominations, in part because there’s barely anything new on that’s like it.

I feel like that was the best scene the show has done. Really good.

watched this too. What a nightmare. A weekend in prison would’ve been 10000x easier.

I survived (and mostly enjoyed) Woodstock 99.

Won free tickets with some friends from Q102 in Cincinnati, complete with a charter bus ride and a small tent.

Since I hadn’t spent a nickel at that point, I was fortunate to be able to afford to eat/drink on site, as stupid as the water prices were.

Bus left right before the Chili Peppers set, so we missed the stuff that went on there but witnessed about everything else negative. Fortunately, we were at the tail end of our twenties and had a better radar for recognizing bad stuff coming and putting some distance between us and it. (Notable failure was being wayyyy too close to the stage when Limp Bizkit followed Alanis Morrisette (I think it was her) and instantly found ourselves on the wrong side of the mosh pits. That took some work to get clear of, but we emerged in the beer garden area so that worked out….

I enjoyed White Lotus. I am a bit of a sucker for shows that are shot well and I thought it was gorgeous. Wife wasn't a huge fan as she never really likes these more serious shows with so many unlikable characters, but I found it funny. Kinda same vein as Euphoria, even sharing the beautify Sydney Sweeney. Took me way too long to figure out where I knew the husband on the honeymoon from, although the Cornell hat should have given it away.

In a similar vein of shows in just beautiful settings, we enjoyed Fboy Island. Nikki Glazer and some of the spins they put on a traditional dating reality show were pretty funny.

I have 10 days left on free hulu with hob max, show, cin, starz. Looking for recommendations. i loved mr inbetween, enjoyed white lotus enough. i won't keep the service because i have a list to get to on prime and netflix, but i'd like one or two more binges. tia

the people that don’t like ted lasso season 2 are the same people that would kick prime pamela anderson out of the bed for having a freckle

I made it through.

Pretty pedestrian.
Ugh, was planning to watch it. Has there been a really good movie release on HBO Max? Getting really worried about Dune and the Matrix movies. I was already worried about Matrix given how bad 2 and 3 were compared to the first, but starting with WW84, it’s been underwhelming. Glad I didn’t spend money on them. Suicide Squad might have been my favorite so far, which is saying something. The Denzel movie was totally pedestrian, same with Mortal Kombat and Kong vs. Godzilla. Good enough to watch at home for free, but I definitely would have been disappointed had I paid for them.

The show takes place over a couple of days - what was going to the hospital to see her and the baby going to add?  FWIW, I thought the show was pretty 'meh' overall.
I'm not supporting seeing her go to the hospital, I'm supporting the idea she shouldn't have been included at all.

I had my account hacked awhile back

This happened to me once, too, except the "keep watching" section had someone in Italy watching "Mad Men" in Italian.

It was jarring to log on to Netflix and see an extra profile, and then try to figure out what was happening. I felt violated.
