Working my way through my HBO Max list, looks like I started with later sequels:
- Bourne Legacy - the one with Renner. This doesn't suck in my opinion. I mean, Europe is the best supporting actor in the first three movies, and this doesn't have it, but the Philippines chase scene was also very good.
- The Wolverine - this blew. Huge Jacked Man looked handsome as ever, but I didn't like Japan as a setting, the twist was as obvious as any movie can be, the villains weren't interesting... stinky.
- Animatrix - I'm halfway through, it's interesting, but like the Star Wars anime shorts, it's uneven and overall not that good. I'm just not an anime guy (but still plan to watch a couple of Ghiblis)

I liked it and Renner has a pretty strong performance. Gillen makes a great villain.
A bit cartoonish though, requires you to suspend a lot of disbelief. And Dianne Wiest's character became insufferable. Going to be tough for future seasons to keep it up.

Just finished Suburra 2 nights ago. What a great show. Another Italian series I really enjoyed and just makes me hate the church even more though.

IMO this may have more to do with the actress than the character/role. I find a little Wiest goes a long way. She gets on my nerves in her roles.

I haven't even caught up with the last season of Gomorrah. Tough watch for me, as the wife isn't interested- forces me to watch late night, which is tough to do with the sub-titles on a tablet (kids asleep, don't want to watch on the tv). And no way do I use dubbing. Will hopefully get to it at some point... at least I know I have it there still.

Tried episode one of Archive81 tonight, and I'm in for the series. Horror/paranormal show with Shining/Overlook Hotel vibes...I'm not normally a found footage fan, but the premise of an archiver restoring it adds a touch of Sinister to it.

Plunder Quest Great little Indie adventure romp. Tons of fun and can't recommend it enough.
You'll have to get it by adding the Pure Magic app (I did it on Roku). It's $9/mo but with a 7 day free trial. They only have like two movies and a couple of shows. But the Plunder movie is worth the price of admission even if you hang around to see what else they come up with.

It pains me to say this as I like many of Sheridan's films, but I got to agree with you. The writing in particular left a lot to be desired as there were a number of loose ends pertinent to the story line that went unexplained. I also found the overall tone of the show trying to hard to be edgy and gritty. I tapped out after the 4th episode.

Just finished Hacks on HBO (may have been mentioned here). Hannah Einbinder is so darn hot to me. Can't put my finger on it(though I'd like to heh heh) but shes smoking.

I'm surprised Yellowjackets (on Showtime) hasn't gotten more talk here. Season finale yesterday and just finished the season. Not the greatest show out there but overall a good watch. If looking for something to watch, give it a gander. Also, not sure if it was a personalized promo or still available, but was able to get Showtime through Amazon for $0.99/month for the next 12 months.

I've only seen that promo rate for 3 months, maybe they upped it for a time - will have to check as at that price I'd get Showtime back

It was actually a movie, I expected a series. It was kinda weird, the story was kind of weak IMHO. But I'm a sucker for anything apocalyptic...I even like WaterWorld.

would love to chinwag this mutha out, but it's impossible to thoroughly discuss at this time without divulging a ton of spoliers.
it is a very good show ... coulda been very great, but bogged itself down a bit with the current day fleshing out(s).
it all ties in, but it is a slow burn in spots.
that said ... Hanratty, Ricci, Lewis - all are amazing, and really carried most of the episodes. they are chewing it up and spitting it out - fantastic turns from those three, can't praise enough.
some plausibility issues up in the storyline, tho ... again, SPOILERS, so i'll just leave it at that.
so, if one is hankering for a mashup of Lord of the Flies/Lost/The Craft/Stand By Me ... well, give it a go.
highly recommended.

Really enjoyed this, very well made. One of the rare shows where the flashbacks were just as interesting, if not more, than the present. Great acting all around.
Was a bit confused by Tyler's whole thing, but overall loved it.

I think you have to take their personalities with a grain of salt- feels like it was written by manic self-absorbed, out of touch actors about manic self-absorbed, out of touch actors. In a good way.

Just finished Mr. Inbetween thanks to this thread. I can't really put my finger on why it was so good, but it was very good. Really an enjoyable journey of a show. I don't think this show would have worked as well had the episodes been longer for some reason - the 30-minute format was perfect.

I think that's a pretty good deal, since I want to see what Ray Donovan is up to later this year.
But really Showtime is one of the worst overall premiums.

I absolutely love it. I'm with you in that it's not the "greatest" or anything, but it hooked me right away and even caused my old ### to follow the reddit sub and listen to a weekly podcast. At first I worried whether the writers had any any where it was going and then decided to just enjoy the ride. I think the acting (both teens and adults) has been stellar and it does a great job of nailing teen girl dynamics (or at least so I've been told). Not to mention the soundtrack...
I think Mrs. Scorchy was dead on when she said it's like crack for a certain segment of Gen X alterna-chicks (and the men who grew up loving them).

I'm still pissed the movie won Best Picture in the Academy wards in 1956, beating out Giant, The Searchers, The Body Snatchers ,A Kiss Before Dying, The Killing, The Wrong Man, Forbidden Planet, The Harder they Fall, and The Man Who Knew too Much
ETA Even Godzilla was better.

I'm a HUGE Shudder fan. The network mainly shows scifi, horror, etc., but it has more 90%+ Rotten Tomato ratings than anyone. Its really, really good (and I'm not that big a fan of the genre). Its part of the AMC+ package now, that I got for a buck or two a month
Lots of really good directors cutting their teeth on the genre and the network has some of the most stupendously bizarre films I've ever seen.

We need to start some threads around here for fully released shows, broken down by episode. Maybe even like a book club where we all get one week to watch an episode and comment on it, then we move on to the next.
I like the Almost Cancelled podcast for that - they record a podcast after each episode of a show, and when I’m binging, I pause after each show and listen to the episode before moving on.
