Finished up Baby Reindeer. Insane story. I watched the Piers Morgan interview with the real woman and she didn't help her case. Went down a bit of a rabbit hole into some backstory and it's clear that Fiona is the real deal. She's nuts.
I just finished episode 3. Given her past, and her assaulting his date at the bar in front of a whole bunch of witnesses, seems like they could have stopped things there by getting her arrested, locked up for some time plus some restraining orders. But I guess I have to see where it goes from there.

episode 4 is a rough one.

This is definitely not a typical FBG type show, it is more geared toward the teen/tween/young adult genre, and probably more towards the female demographic, so if you have anyone in your household that meets that criteria, "Geek Girl "on Netflix came out about a week ago. Currently watching with my wife and while it normally is probably not a show that would be on our list, it's an easy watch.

Why am I watching it? Because one of the leads played basketball in high school with my son and I coached his younger brother for a coupe years and had a chance to get to know the family. Amazing family, the kid (young man) is an amazing kid, was a big supporter of my oldest son (they are two years apart) in high school, and always would play and shoot around with my youngest (who was 8-9 years old at the time) and coached him in basketball camps. He is the kind of kid that deserves to make it, so hopefully this turns into the big break that opens up other doors for him. It is really weird seeing him on the screen, but is great to see his passion and dedication to his craft paying off.

Can't believe i never saw The Offer before. loving it. Although Giovanni Ribisi as a mob boss is oddly cast.

It's so good. Everyone I've suggested it to has loved it and suggested it to others that also loved it. As a bonus, I've finally stopped getting asked "so what's a movie producer's job really?", because The Offer explains it so well. Gotta figure out where to find the money for a trip to Italy, get a studio boss sobered up enough to approve changing the lead actor on a movie, get the Mafia to stop shooting your cars, and you need to find a horse's head by 6am tomorrow morning? That's what a producer does.

"Lessons in Chemistry"

Can be overly schmaltzy for sure, but some very good moments and an easy watch on Apple TV.

The wife kept wanting to watch it and I resisted but I liked it more than her

I keep a list of shows I need to watch/finish/rewatch. Every time I hear about a show, I throw it on here and just choose from the list whenever I need something new.

Currently going through Ozark and have no idea what's next. I tend to prefer watching shows that have concluded, but I make exceptions.

I've got too many shows to watch.

Scratch off Dexter. Maybe it was good back in the day but we started watching it and I'm not sure we're going to go much past a season or 2.

You’re wrong, but it’s not the first time. :towelwave:
It's dreck disguised in a decent whodunit. Hall is good as Dexter. The rest of the cast: :x
It has one of the best endings to a season ever in season 4.

Get that far then quit imo 😂

We're thinking that will be the cutoff. https://media.giphy.com/media/HP5dest4oOHf2/giphy.gif

You've already seen Mr In-between?

A lot of great shows on that list for you already... But don't sleep on that one.

The sister is a god awful actress. Ruins the entire show for me.
I think she is meant to be like that. Her character is a whiny, scrawny and annoying person. I think it's the character not the acting.....but I could be wrong.

All of the characters have an annoying quality to them. The whispering GF, the loud roided up Sgt, the "report directly to HR" Asian guy, the smug Cpt., etc.

I kinda like all the characters for what they are. I really enjoyed the series (except for the finale).

Yeah watched that one and most other great shows.

Dexter, Mad Men, and Deadwood are probably the biggest shows on the list.

I gave both Mad Men and Dexter a shot a while back and they didn’t stick. Need to try again.

Deadwood was always off my radar because I hate watching shows that were cancelled without resolution. Then I heard they made a movie resolving plot stuff so it’s on the list now.

Masuka always cracked me up. John Lithgow season super good. I don't know if I finished it or forgot if I did.

The thing they just did on Showtime to wrap it up was ok as well.

Yup

That Lithgow season is pretty epic

Anybody else’s Netflix go in and out of normal color to dark color (almost like a brown cast over the screen) every 10 mins or so? It doesn’t happen on any other streaming platforms or regular cable TV…only on my Netflix. Drives me crazy.

No, but the volume does not work sometimes on my Netflix and will sometimes come back on if I pause it for 5-10 minutes and push play.

This is how I felt about Succession.

Since you like shows with conclusions. I would suggest adding 6 Feet Under

Thanks. Is Westworld season 1 self contained plot-wise? I have a thing about investing in a series that either gets cancelled or turns to **** before the plot can get resolved. Same question for Black Summer. I thought that was cancelled in the middle of its run.

Seen it and rewatched several times. It's an all-timer.

I think season 1 is good enough that if you imagine there are not other seasons, it's still a satisfying watch. As for Black Summer, it's 2 or 3 seasons, can't remember. But it's a post-apocalyptic zombie show. Is there ever really a resolution to these? Again, good enough to enjoy.

A cancelled zombie show is a happy ending - they didn’t have a chance to kill off some of the characters.

Just watch the first episode of Black Summer. Nothing could keep up that pace, but they still did a great job IMO. If you do watch it, turn on subs for the final episode of season 1. There’s a line I didn’t hear the first time through that completely changes the most jaw-dropping scene.

I've mentioned it, but Big Door Prize on Apple maintains a compellingly charming, funny and interesting level so far through it's 2 seasons. Should be generating more discussion.Giorgio might be my favorite tv character right now.

The Fall of Minneapolis on YouTube…. Raised my blood pressure.
I don't think we need to tout loony right wing "news" or "documentaries" in here.
This is the streaming thread, and as someone who watches just about zero news, apparently for this very reason, had very little knowledge of what MN was going through. I guess seeing a Police Station get burnt down and all the other footage was uncool to me, but in retrospect I agree I probably shouldn’t have put this here for a possible political conflict, which isn’t my intention, so I’ll not respond about it here again.

I watched the first episode of The Tourist, which is now on Netflix. It was gripping, we'll see how things go from here. It had been on my list for a while based on a recommendation in here.

I don't think we need to tout loony right wing "news" or "documentaries" in here.

I don't think we need to distinguish politically between documentaries unless they are of the "hate speech" variety.

The FFA is politics agnostic, let's follow the rules.
Would a Breitbart news "documentary" about how January 6th was just some people touring the Capitol be acceptable to tout here? That's what this is at a city level...

Gray area for sure. I haven't watched the documentary in question. Documentaries with perspectives on political topics should be allowed regardless of "far right or far left" affiliation IMHO.

But I'll let the mods handle that.

The Minnesota event is certainly a topic that would be of interest to many Americans that don't consider themselves left or right.
