Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (16 Viewers)

Apple TV raising prices to $13 a month. Seems pretty pricey for that service.
Yeah, that's too much for what you get in return. It is a good bingeing streamer so once or twice a year for a month should work fine as long as you can keep your head in the sand on spoilers.
I'm kinda heading that way with everything but Prime & Netflix. Just cancelled HBO & Paramount.

we need to do the same with Apple. that's what we do with HBO... and we're due to re-up.

I keep Paramount for soccer.

Wasn't Lazarus Project not only cancelled but cancelled after a cliffhanger season ending? That would kill it for me.
Wait, what?
Yep, it was.
Well that lowers my interest quite a bit.
Yeah…crap.
Im part way through S2. ****.
I think it ended just fine  can it go more ways with another season? sure, but it also ended in such a way that it's not really a big deal that there isn't a season 3.
I saw something about it ending on a cliffhanger?
So I’m five episodes in now. This show is bananas in the best possible ways. I’m hooked. So I’m down for whatever episodes they have available.
Wrapped up The Lazarus Project. It's a pretty great show, but yeah... it needed 1 more season I think to come to a better overall conclusion. I appreciate that the characters were often selfish instead of doing the "right" thing. That kept it from being predictable. Great cast, fast paced, mind bending. Vermeil recommended.

I still have to finish S2.

Oh... We got HBO and started the Pitt.

2 eps in...what am i missing? Its a fine ER procedural, but i was expecting : powerboner: tv. Wife and just watched a docu-series on London emergency services that is basically this, but better- and real.

Anyone seen Falling Skies recently? If so, does it hold up well 15 years later? I've watched a few episodes and it seems up my alley, but I can't for the life of me remember if I watched it or not.

Blasted through Season 1 of the Lazarus Project yesterday...

What a trip!

This coming from a guy who is easily confused by time travel storylines

Thanks to everyone here who recommended it..

Season 2 will be finished today

Started Halt and Catch Fire. I'm in.

Good era and concept and I like the characters so far.
Thanks for the rec of this one. I started it a week or two ago and am now halfway through season 2. I am also really enjoying it so far, but admittedly I'm probably in their prime demographic i.e. 50-ish IT guy. :giggle:

Yep. For us old folk, the blast from the past was nice. It starts super old school tech feel, but by the end it's an interesting tight circle, family dynamic. I even liked how they wrapped it up. Just a solid watch.

I finished the 3 seasons of Yellowjackets
It was pretty decent , I am glad it was mentioned in the top 100 series thread

Watched the 1st episode of the new season Fisk , i forgot on how quirky and funny that show is

My mid-30s gf just started this and has liked it through the first few of season 2, surprisingly for her age. Personally I kind of gave up on it after season 2, it just didn't grab me much after that.

Only issue I had with the show was the blonde computer hacker/wiz typed on the keyboard like someone who was the opposite of that

She's a pretty meh actress in general

Show was otherwise top-notch

There once was a thread dedicated to it on the boards here with a bunch of us watching it when it first aired. 1st few seasons were good. Some neat concepts, some interesting characters. Production design, f/x and sound design was pretty high level for such a small network show. 1st season finale was a bit odd and anti-climactic. 2nd season was pretty solid IMO and had a cool cliff hanger ending. 3rd season was good too but started the trend of shifting gears each season and the show built up a lot of potential that it never fully realized. For instance the cool season 2 cliffhanger didn't really have much of a satisfying resolution and ultimately didn't lead anywhere.

It went off the rails in season 4 IMO, turned into a show like later seasons Dexter where it seemed like they were firing the whole writing staff in between seasons. Basically completely upending and abandoning the plotlines of what came before and going off into a totally different direction. Way too much time spent on a stupid love triangle between the brothers and the love interest. Honestly I don't think I ever even finished season 5 and the ending because I just completely lost interest. Maybe others have more positive things to say about the final season though.

Edit: Sorry to be discouraging, if you are liking the initial episodes I would probably watch up through the season 3 finale and then stop there unless you are just really, really digging it. Season 3 finale was a bit of a disappointment but at least it resolved a bunch of plotlines and leaves the characters mostly in a good place.

Finished Lazarus Project yesterday. Pretty trippy, awesome

I can see how some here said that it could have used another season

Time is a circular loop and all

At least some say
So, still worth watching even though there won't be a S3?
I love time travel stuff but it really needs to wrap up somewhat neatly for me to be satisfying.
Are most questions at least answered?

It's a time travel story to the nth degree

Definitely worth it imo

I think this works at almost any age. Like if you're 23 and your girlfriend is 35, LOOK AT ME! If you're 51 and your girlfriend is 35, LOOK AT ME!

New 'traveling' gameshow
Destination X
Hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Destination X sees a group of contestants go on the road trip of a lifetime but they have no idea of their location. In order to win, they must figure out their mystery locations. Once they're on the blacked-out Destination X bus, the journey turns into a real-life game board, with challenges designed to offer clues as to their location, along with a few misdirects to keep them guessing. At the end of each episode, the contestant who places an X on a map furthest from the actual location packs their bags. The first participant to reach Destination X will be crowned the winner.
The UK version was much harder than the US version. Quite a level up on having to know Europe. Easy to be lost and they only confirmed 1 stop to the participants along the way.
Glad it was not a copy/paste with new competitors (like Traitors is between US / UK) - each is distinct.

Very well earned victory.

New reality game show The Snake

Hybrid of other games.
The Snake is a good thing, basically the Head of Household from Big Brother.
Nasty food / drink and critter challenges like Fear Factor.
Their occupations are already identified heading into the game. The usual cast of characters (except this lying show has a Pastor).

Simplistic game design where it's a chain of trust: Snake picks one, they pick the next, etc until 2 remain then it's back to the Snake to eliminate one. Unless it's a double-headed Snake challenge and 2 get eliminated.

Major alliance already figured out the fallacy of chains and how to beat it - mostly. Showmances are snake bitten. Hoping for an underdog.

One obviously watched Neda on BB / Traitors and came prepared with a 'if this, do that' scenario list that she reads off to the audience during the personal camera time = entertaining.

Don't think it's a longevity show that'll be around in 10-20 years like some shows of this kind. More cheese manipulation than caring who gets advantages or advances on. Obviously, manipulation = not a lot of likable people.

It used to be cool to be the 9 year old and have a 35 year old girlfriend. That was my era. Guess I'm outdated. Ha ha

I haven’t read all the posts so not sure if this has been mentioned. Over the years I have seen a lot of people lamenting that China Beach is not available on streaming. All 4 seasons are now available on Roku’s new streaming service called Howdy. It’s $2.99/month with no commercials. I am almost positive that it was the music rights holding it up, so I am curious to see if it has the original music. I never watched it on its original run, but have heard good things.

Wife and I liked Mare of Easttown.

I finally got around to watching it and was thoroughly entertained. HBO was replaying the series yesterday and I ended up bingeing it all. Sure I can watch it On Demand but for some reason "live" viewings peak my interest more. Winslet is such a talent. Top notch actress

Excellent show.
When I watched American Rust it felt like a similar setting as Mare of Easttown, but so far below it in quality.

A more homely Mindhunter
Anything compared to Mindhunter I'm in on. Homely? You mean homey? I guess I don't understand what a more "homely" Mindhunter is.

Less stylized and more cozy with a lot more family dynamics in focus.
Homely means ugly though.. i thought you were talking **** about Kate, whos playing it down.

Yep, Mindhunter was beautiful to watch with the way it was shot. Love the cinematography and style. This is kind of ugly, Pennsylvania schtick. In the Queen's tongue, the word is associated with comfort as well.
