Dog Day Afternoon - Kinda bad. I was expecting something just outright amazing. Took two days to watch because it was so damn boring.

I need someone to point me in the right direction in starting a new sci fi series. The only thing that I have really watched in this genre is Firefly. TIA.
Is Battlestar Galactica available through the watch instantly service?
Yes.
Well then, that's my recommendation to PDG.
:goodposting: i think you have to get the first miniseries episodes on disc. everything after that is available streaming
That used to be the case but not anymore, you can now stream the miniseries. I started the series a few weeks back and am now a few episodes into season 2, fantastic so far.

To Tough To Die - a must see for a Ramones fan. Some of the live performances were bad... but some were excellent. There is one particular extremely heartfelt moment that I'll leave it up to you to find out if you watch it. Basically it is a live Ramones tribute show in LA organized by Johhy Ramone. There are clips of people talking about the Ramones during the live performances. Some of the performers were...

Red Hot Chili Peppers - they played the songs at the same speed at the recordings. it just didn't seem right live. Ramones always play about twice as fast Live. Keetus couln't really sing like Joey very well either. Not his range.

Pete Yorn - surprisingly good performance. Did two of the poppy slower Joey type songs.

X - they didn't play Ramones songs... still not sure how they got away with that. Also, it wasn't very good.

Henry Rollins - played with CJ on Bass, the Ramones producer on guitar, and Marky on drums. Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols joined in on guitar for a few songs. Dude from Rancid played git on guitar for a few songs. By far the best of the live performances.

Eddie Vedder - did a pretty amazing version of 'I Believe in Miracles'. I was impressed. Also, I had no idea how tight he and Johnny were. He was talking like they were best friends.

The Dickes - live performance was solid. There was one odd song choice I never heard of... rest was good.

They changed music... you can't deny it!

No, I just watched the opening 2 hour? miniseries episodes last night. They're all there.

Yea. My wife and I watched it via DVDs in the mail last year and plan on watching the whole thing again now that's available on instant. Just a fantastic series that, unlike LOST, finishes perfectly.

I'm 3 episodes into Spartacus, f'ing awesome. I know i'm late but its awesome.
:lmao: I watched the entire season between yesterday and today. Watched the first episode of the prequel a little while ago. Doesn't seem as good.did some research and it seems they are recasting Spartacus for season 2 because the actor has cancer. :bag:

I'm a big fan of foreign movies and netflix is feeding my addiction nicely.

Just saw Roman de Gare and I highly recommend it.

Beautiful French scenery and a building storyline that will keep you guessing. Solid performances all around.

Just signed up for a free month. Figured I could watch on my wii, PS3 and iphone. Why not give it a try

Instant streaming was down late, late one night this weekend. I would click on an episode, it would sync for a while and then crap out to the main menu. Netflix sent me an email the next day apologizing and saying I would get a small credit on my next bill.

Was trying to start the new prequel season of Spartacus. Loved the first season.

My wife is way into Firefly. She exiled me to the other TV for several hours of forced sports-watching this weekend so she could watch it. Is it that good?

I really enjoyed it. Very good writing and clever dialogue characteristic of Joss Whedon. Interesting premise and the story/character arcs have solid foundation. On the downside it did not have much of a budget so the production values are kind of low and it didn't last even a whole season so I think some of the fanfare is based upon it's unrealized potential, which was significant.

only 2 episodes show up, but it supposed to be 6 parts.

It's still ongoing. The 3rd episode airs Feb 4th. I think the episodes are available to view on Netflix a few days after it airs on TV.

I want to recommend the Vice Guide to Travel.

I'd caught some of it on youtube several months back and was fascinated, so I was excited to see that it's available to Watch Instantly. There are eight episodes total, which consist of guys taking (or sometimes sneaking) cameras to some of the most f-ed up places on earth.

One episode is on Liberia, where the camera crew follows around warlords who talk about all of the violence and even cannibalism that went on there during the nineties. At one point, they end up in a very bad neighborhood in Monrovia and basically have to run for their lives.

The episode on North Korea is very interesting too. What a messed up place. That's the closest I'll probably ever get to seeing the insanity there with my own eyes. The one dealing with the Hadj is quite informative as well.

Need help with some TV series for my wife.

She just finished Psych, Monk and pretty much got burned out on X-Files. She sees to like those USA channel procedural dramas. She is a fan of the CSIs, NCIS, Criminal Minds type shows as well.

Any hidden gems like that that I can suggest to her. I am already going to have her try Firefly and BSG, but not sure she is going to like them. She tried Sliders last night and didn't make it through the first episode.

The first two seasons of Lie to Me are on there. I'm not a big fan, but it sounds like she might be if she likes the USA dramas and the CSI type shows. Or if she wants something a little more obscure, dark and critically acclaimed, the British series Wire in the Blood, which has been discussed in this thread, might work.

Dexter. Not exactly a hidden gem, but I've been surprised at how many people don't know about it. I guess it's bc it's on Showtime. I think the first three or four seasons are on streaming.

Thanks for the quick responses. Yeah, I forgot that she plowed through Lie To Me already, not sure about Wire in the Blood but I seem to remember that in our queue. We watched the first three seasons of Dexter. Need to pick up on season 4. The gift and curse of the series in streaming is no commercials. Just a couple of hours in the evening and you can get through 3-4 episodes. You can finish a whole season in a week.

I watched a lot of these when they originally rolled out on vbs.tv a few years back. I remember liking them. Thanks for reminding me to check these out.

A ton of new stuff out today, among the titles...

All 3rd Rock From the Sun

All Cosby Show

Dances With Wolves

Dreamcatcher

Enter the Dragon

The Good Son

A Fish Called Wanda

Disney movies- HSM, Camp Rock etc

Larry Sanders Season 5 and 6

Meet the Parents

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

All Rosanne

Romeo and Juliet

The Runaways

All that 70s Show

All Ugly Betty

Will have to catch Dreamcatcher. I loved the book.

Finished the final season of Nip/Tuck this morning. Pretty good series all in all. The first and third seasons are excellent, IMO. I actually liked when they moved to LA because the show changed from being a sort-of-drama to being a parody of the plastic surgery and Hollywood sectors. I would hesitate to say its one of my favorite series but it was certainly worth the time I invested to watch it all the way through.

I agree, hard to say it would have turned out as great as people think it would have. Even as awesome as Buffy & Angel were, they still had some bad stretches. There are a few clunky episodes, but for a show that only got 10 or so episodes before being cancelled, it showed huge promise. I loved it.

Watched The Parking Lot Movie last night. Thumbs up if you like documentaries.Over the course of three years, filmmaker Meghan Eckman tracked the comings and goings of a solitary parking lot in Charlottesville, Va., chronicling the lives of the attendants who were working there. This inspiring documentary is the result.

The Russia House (with Sean Connery and Michelle Pfeiffer) just become available on Instant. I really liked this movie.

Just subscribed to this and it is pretty awesome. One question...how often does Netflix add new streaming content? Weekly?

As far as I can tell, there's really no specific pattern to it. The selection changes slightly on a daily basis. Some days more than others (beginning/end of a new month I think is a big day), but there's quite a bit of turnover in general IMO.http://instantwatcher.com/upcoming_titles

That site is pretty cool. A lot of people in this thread use it to keep track of what's coming and going.

They add a few titles here and there, but just about every Tuesday they add a bunch.

Brett Hart Wrestling with shadows in on watch instantly and is one of the best docs I have ever seen.

I don't think you have to like wrestling to enjoy it. I also just hopped into this thread so no idea if it's been mentioned already

The Wind That Shakes the Barley is really good and definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it.

Does this go into the Wrestlemania screwjob?
