After going through The Fall, Happy Valley, Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad and the first season of Helix I've been trying to find another series to watch.

Started up "WentWorth prison" .. finished up episode 4 of season 1 yesterday.. It's just OK so far..

Seems to be trying to hard to be Orange is the New Black without the humor or Lesbian affairs..
You watch House of Cards?
Not yet.. I guess I should give it a try.. Does it hook you after one episode, or does it take a couple to get into it??

It's much better than any of the series you mentioned except for BB. I would easily put it in the top 10 of any tv series I've seen. I think it hooks you pretty quickly too. And with season 3 coming out in a few days you'll have tons of material to watch.

Fringe is also decent. Not great but pretty good if you're into weird, supernatural kind of stuff.

Watched all seasons of Fringe during it's broadcast so "been there done that" ;)

Will give House of Cards a try :thanks:

wentworth gets better.. stick with it another two or 3 eps... and you should see a notch up

First 5 seasons of MASH TV series. I probably won't be going through all of them right now, but am definitely hitting all of the Col. Flagg episodes. I have watched the first 2 so far, for those interested:

S2 - Ep37 Deal Me Out - first intro of the character, he's not in it much and is way less crazy

S2 - Ep48 A Smattering of Intelligence - now this is our Col. Flagg, this is the one where he purposely breaks his arm ...twice

S3 - Ep51 Officer of the Day

S3 - Ep71 White Gold

S4 - Ep81 Quo Vadis Captain Chandler?

S5 - Ep102 The Abduction of Margaret Hoolihan

Only one more and its past season 5:

S7 - Ep165 Rally Round the Flagg Boys
mash is now my go to for a quick few mins watch

still holds up!!

just a great show!

Oh I do plan on sticking with it, just hasn't reached the "Dang, can't wait to see the next episode" level like the others I mentioned did..

I will say, the Synopsis for Episode 5 is intriguing.. ;)

Erica begins to dream about having sex with Franky and begins to wonder whether her fiancé is really the person she wants to be with. Liz begins drinking methylated spirits and collapses when Doreen puts bleach in it. The rivalry between Franky and Jacs escalates. Doreen is offered the peer worker job after Liz is fired. Bea, Boomer, Franky and Liz discuss masturbation.

While I wouldn't rate it among the best ever* it is engrossing from the very beginning. Kevin Spacey is brilliant and I love how they unashamedly let him tear down the fourth wall.

*I thought this show was going to provide true insight into the inner-workings of our dysfunctional bicameral legislature and the Oval Office, and it provides some of that, but they pretty quickly throw caution to the wind and portray highly implausible, if not downright insane scenarios playing out in D.C. Still it's highly entertaining and worth watching.

My quick go to is Always Sunny or Cheers. Sometimes some Wonder Years or Malcolm in the Middle, too. Watched episode 1 of MASH for the first time the other night. Did Hawkeye call the black buy "spear chucker" or something like that?

probably residue from the movie and their intramural ringer, Dr Jones.

Oliver Harmon "Spearchucker" Jones was a character in the film, the book and five or so episodes of the TV series. While definitely a racial slur the nickname came from the fact that he was a gifted college athlete who particularly good at the javelin.

with snowmeggedon upon us, you might want to check out Crossing Lines S1 and now S2 just appeared as well... thought Season One was pretty good crime procedural with David Fincher and Donald Sutherland, looks good in HD and some cool Euro settings. A pretty decent show to binge on a snowy day...
I liked that show but they didn't show it here after the first season. Saving Hope (Canadian) didn't show here after the 1st season either and is another show I liked.
I vaguely remember that show. Didnt it get cancelled early? If i recall i stopped watching maybe because of all the annoying accents. Or am i thinking of a different show?

It got cancelled by nbc, but the international TV folks are still producing it as it was a co production I believe it was a joint venture.Has some cool eUro settings, so very watchable in hd.

Interesting. I'll have to check it out. Thanks.

finished "the fall" tonight and was most disappointed with the ending. it seemed to have lost its way midway through this season. plot didn't do much to help the cast really with some really bad writing down the stretch. like i said in an earlier post, they could have done something really interesting with the setting and teased me into thinking as much in S1 at points. they got too focused on the killer and not enough on the characters. i'm not sure that i would keep up with the series if it came back.
S2 was a good until Ep 4 then it fell off a cliff... would have preferred a longer S1 to wrap up the storyline and start fresh in S2, there was a lot of WTF moments...
Yeah, the first few episodes of S2 were excellent but it's like they brought in an entirely writing team for the last three. And apparently it was the writers from CSI Miami or The Following or some equally terrible show.
Agree with all the above.

It's still very entertaining S1 and first half of S2. Then you can really just skim to the end and check out the "ending".
Finished this last night. I didn't like how they ended season 1 and hated how they ended this one. Overall it was a good season and I'll probably check out another if it comes back.

I just started House of Cards a couple of weeks ago after giving up on Orange is the New Black. Great show -- nearing the end of season one.

Two flicks:

Snowpiercer- liked a lot, somewhat dopey plot/background but well done.

Get the Gringo- mel returns in his normal smart ###, bad ### role aka lethal weapon. Good movie for killing an hour and 40 mins, recommended

"All This Mayhem" The documentary on Ben & Tas Tappas - the Australian skateboard studs.

I was sucked into this story and couldn't turn away.

I actually loved the way they painted Tony Hawk into looking like a dweeb d-bag of sorts.
