Watched "An Honest Liar" today at work. A documentary on James Randi. Very well done and highly recommend it.

I second this. Some interesting bits and fantastic stories. His feud with Uri Gellar is fascinating. 4/5

These Final Hours - An Australian film about how a bloke spends the final hours of the world as we know it by reluctantly saving a young girl's life and how it changes him.

I Origins - A scientist trying to disprove the notion of God by identifying the evolutionary steps to the human eye who falls in love with a woman with eyes that make him rethink the human soul.

I gave these both 9/10

I shouldn't be piping up since I don't know what is on streaming (is there a way to look at the selection without being a member?). I really dug I Origins, and liked their other collaboration even more - Another Earth. Also, Brit Marling is a fav of mine, and she has been in a lot of quality movies. I would suggest checking out any of these others as well if they are available: Sound of My Voice, The East, The Company You Keep, and Arbitrage.

flixsearch.io allows you to search the entire catalogue of netflix streaming for every country in the world. Very useful if you have a DNS service . instantwatcher.com gives you the recent and popular films in the US site which is the largest one.

Another Earth is one of my favourites and I have been very impressed with Brit in these two films that I have seen of her. I have The Company You Keep and Arbitrage on my to see lists and will bump them up based on your recommendations. Thanks.

Eva was pretty good.

Better than Automata.

Loved this film. It covers a lot of similar philosophical questions that Automata does with better characterization and story telling. Although I have to say the atmosphere of Automata was pretty special. If only ... it could have been a really great film.

In those 2, Brit is part of an ensemble, but I liked both. Sound of my Voice is her as a lead, and came out the same year as Another Earth I believe.

Also loved Another Earth and Brit.

She just signed on to do (and star in) a Netflix original series. No details yet other than the title, "The OA".

I'm a big fan of this show. The lead character is excellent, the writing is smart, and the photography is outstanding.

Winnebago Man - Story about guy who's blooper reel went viral. Found it kinda interesting despite having never seen said viral video.

All This Mayhem (2014) is a great documentary. The story of Aussie skateboarders Tas and Ben Pappas. Even if you don't know anything about skateboarding or really care, this is a crazy story worth watching.

One of my favorite science fiction movies is scheduled to leave Netflix on August 1st - The 5th Element. It's been on cable a lot so most people who are interested have probably already seen it, but if you haven't, or if you want to watch it again, you don't have much time. It is Sci-Fi. I heard it described as Cloud Atlas meets The Matrix. I am 6 episodes in and it is really inconsistent and very hard to follow. At lot of it makes no sense...But there are a few brilliant scenes, so I can't reject it completely. Lots and lots of BS to get to the diamonds

Two episodes in and liking it so far. Dreading any kind of reveal, as I'm sure it's going to be stupid.

Watched Transparent with the GF. Okay it's an interesting premise and Jeffrey Tambor gives a top notch performance but I don't get the hype. It kind of reminds me a little bit of Allie McBeal in that every character has a quirk and there really isn't a "straight-man" in the bunch to provide the rudder to keep the show on course. And frankly most of the characters are really horrible people, I get that to be flawed is part of the human condition but particularly among Tambor's children on the show there isn't a likable one in the bunch and considering how much screen-time they get it makes it tough to care about the overall show.

I will watch season 2 because Tambor is so very good (Judith Light came on pretty strong in the last two episodes too) but I could easily walk away and not really care.

In Enemy Hands

Don't waste your time. I looked at the cast and thought to myself "why did I never hear of this movie? It's WWII based and has so many good actors". Well, I watched about an hour of it and I then knew why. The actors kind of mailed it in (except for some of the German actors who were very good. There are tons of actors in this that you know or have seen somewhere, and not one of them made a lasting impression. The sets were horribly done. It reminded me of a "play" at the local community center.

Storage isn't the issue. It's the streaming fees that Netflix has to pay to the studios for the right to stream those films or tv shows.

Storage isn't the issue. It's the streaming fees that Netflix has to pay to the studios for the right to stream those films or tv shows.

i think the studios are waiting for the great unbundling of cable. they might think the fees from their own "channel" by going more direct to consumers are worth more than what Netflix pays them. they didn't value them correctly when they made the original agreements it looks like.
