I found it to be ok, but very preachy in that way that only British TV can be. That said, I have no idea if this was primarily produced by the Brits.

i found it pretty up and down- not the most original idea, but does some ok work with it. 6.5/10

That's where I stopped. I loved the series, the final season (what I could bear to watch) was a clunker.

I think I stopped there too although I still laughed quite a bit IIRC ("Where's my little girl?  Daddy wants to get his rocks off."), we just got distracted by other things. I would like to revisit it and finish it off.

ETA;: But I agree, it wasn't the same if only because you can't recapture something that has grown fonder in the memory (if not in reality).

I binge watched about 5 episodes one night while drinking a half bottle of scotch.  I just felt compelled to drink when they drank, which was all the fraking time.

For season 3 I have a bottle of Irish Whiskey, so I'm going to do it right.

So I started watching Ip Man 3 last night with my wife, but it's only in Cantonese with no subtitles or English dub so my wife got frustrated and made me change it. :lmao:
I'll watch it on my own after she goes to sleep.

I watched the whole thing when it was first put out and was underwhelmed but made it through the whole thing. We recently rewatched the whole series again, for like the 3rd or 4th time, and the final season wasn't as bad as I thought it was the first time. Clearly not as good but it has it's moments.

The later eps are more funny.  There are a lot of call backs to things that are happening in the first few eps that you don't really see at first.  If you can get over how weird Lindsay and Maybe look, it's still worth a watch.

I agree. It's seems a bit disjointed at first but as it goes along and you realize what's going on, it gets more interesting. That's why a second viewing was actually better because you catch a lot more in the early episodes.

Agreed. The first few episodes were awful but everything clicks later in the season and it finally regains its footing. But even though there was a payoff, not sure it was worth the initial investment. 

 
Over the weekend my wife wanted to watch "The Fundamentals of Caring" which is a Netflix original movie with Paul Rudd. Surprisingly good and not anywhere near as depressing as the plot makes it sound: A very beaten down Rudd becomes a caregiver for an 18ish year old kid suffering from Muscular Dystrophy. Lot of funny lines. Selena Gomez was real puffy in this and apparently there were some Lupus rumors I didn't know about. Anyway, worth watching if/when your significant other notices this on there.

I don't claim that With Bob & David is exactly as good as Mr. Show because almost nothing in the universe is that good. But I laughed a bunch, and I bet you'll be glad you watched. There's also a fun hour long making of featurette at the end. 

 
Wife and I are 7 episodes into Bloodline Season 2.  Not sure how anyone can think this show isn't still excellent.  The tension, dysfunction, and terrible decisions are still incredibly high.  And Danny Jr and his mom almost as easy to hate as Danny.

i reached out to the family that took in a PB named cherry...they live in Massachusetts....hopefully near where i am ....id love to go and meet this dog...what a beauty and so gentle and loving  (he has a his own FB page )

 
Marco Polo season 2 just built up to all kinds of awesome and an epic battle in episode 9 that served as a 20 minute intro to the show. Their budget must be huge and this season has definitely not disappointed.

I'm limping through.  Season 1 >>> Season 2.  Only watch it where we've run low on things to watch.  Kevin's stupidity ruins it a bit.

Kevin's stupidity is a problem, but I do like S2 better than S1. Mostly, because the stakes are obviously much higher in S2. S1 kind of bored me. I slogged through it it out of my love for Coach T and Lindsay Weir. I get excited to watch an episode in S2 though.

Well yeah. He's an addict. Coke and booze hound. They tend to do stupid things. If they were party to murder of a family member I'd imagine stupid decisions would abound. Makes it more realistic to me. Actually the mom's enabling bugs me more than anything.

 
The Big Short - watched this on the stream last night.

I'm very interested in the financial housing crisis, but preferred HBO's "Too Big To Fail" to this.

I think it was decent the way they explained things but the one thing that bugged me is that every major player's personality was a little too shticky and over the top. 

Maybe this is the way the guys involved acted in real life but every single major character seemed a touch overdone, or a caricature of the person they were playing.  Pitt, Gosling, Bale, Carrell all just seemed to be acting too much - if that's a thing.

Anyway - that was my take.  Decent/interesting flick nonetheless.

 
Big short wasnt shticked up to make it realistic.  It was to keep a mass audience entertained enough to slog through an hours long explanation of a really important and complex topic and still recommend it to friends.  Thats why they had a hot girl in a bubble bath and a stripper with 3 mortgages and every 5 minutes a hot girl walked across the screen for no apparent reason.  They had to manufacture drama and push the characters over the top to keep it interesting.  Thats why the scene where carell flips out on the speaker was even better - the narrator breaks the 4th wall and says this is exactly how it happened.

Fair enough. One of my favorite things to read about so I probably didn't appreciate the purpose to keep it more mainstream. Good points.
