not sure where we were talking about Taboo, but if it makes Jdog any happier- the show grew on me.

only three quibbly issues with the season finale:

1- no way a ship like that is just hot-rodding out of the port without the soldiers being able to get to it. it's not a cigarette boat.

2- feel like the show and character spent a ton of energy (and maybe even the show title) on hardy and sis's relationship as being a driving goal for him and the plot. seemed completely bizarre and out of what little character we get for him to just bail like that after hooking up... even if mom's face transposed itself on her.

3- no idea where he said they were going at the end. I got "colonnade" and not USA, but even after a few rewinds and CC, bupkis. sounded maybe spanish/s-american?

We were discussing it in the rental thread, I think. I will read your spoiler content once I watch the finale tonight.

I started watching "The Road" on Netflix.  It was an amazing book by Cormac McCarthy  so I had to watch it.  I'm only half way through it and I am very pleased with what I have seen so far.  Father and Son navigating starvation/survival about a decade after the Apocalypse.
When it was in the theater, a group of buddies went with me because I'd read the book and raved about it.  They all thought it was super depressing...especially the guy whose wife had passed away a few months before from breast cancer.  Probably not the best movie to invite him to. :(

Doh :(

The book and movie are dark, but I felt a lot closer to my son after reading it - so there's that.

Yeah the road was good but def depressing.  Whenever I get out of the shower and its real cold I think about the one part where he takes that dudes clothes.

Tried watching the frontier with khal Drago.  Got 3 episodes in and came to the conclusion I don't like it much. I'm done

By the way, at my house we call him Khal Bro-go of the Brothraki.

Don't disagree about the ship, that seems reasonable. The sister relationship was heavily built up, yes. But he loves her, and I think he knows he's too dangerous to be with her and that she would perish if they were together.

we got through an episode. felt pretty easy to pull the rip cord there.
I knew it was bad cause I tend to try out new stuff when I'm running on the treadmill.  If I can tell it's good I will turn it off to rewatch later to listen better.  I was missing dialog and was like yeah I don't really give a #### about any of these characters or story

Watched Blazing Saddles again after 20 years since it is on Netflix this month. Still LOL funny. But how did that movie ever get made?

 Had the pleasure of seeing this on the big screen a couple years ago as a double feature with Young Frankenstein.

What a blast it was listening to Blazing's hilarious jokes with a large audience.

I have been trying to get through the Daredevil seasons, but IMO it's been slow, strange and sometimes annoying.  I wanted to love this show but like the other Netflix produced shows, it comes up short IMO.

I saw it in the theater when it came out. I was 12. My hippie-chick aunt took myself & my younger brother. I'm sure she knew what kind of movie it was, just as I'm sure she didn't tell my mother same. Being 12 years old, it was right up my alley even if a good % of the jokes probably went over my head. I just remember thinking how cool it was and that I was getting away with something. With the audience in stitches, it was the most fun I've ever had at the movies.

Daredevil is actually one of the better ones.

House of cards is the #### though.  Better than all the rest by miles

Different strokes and all but I though both seasons of Daredevil were fantastic.  Luke Cage was the one Marvel show on Netflix I struggle with.  Something about it just doesn't resonate with me.

Watched Amadeus last night. I'd give it a solid 4/5. I'd seen it once before (a few years ago) and it was better than I remembered. For a 3 hour movie it went by pretty fast.

That racial humor is so cutting edge, I'm not certain this movie would get made in 2017.

too lazy to start a thread for it... or search for a thread for it... but...

really enjoying Viceland's programming lately. don't care about the getting high stuff- but they do a great job with interesting investigative or documentation stuff. didn't think I'd like the two guys who riff on the news daily... but they've grown on me.

I think there is no chance this movie gets made in 2017.  Especially if made by a near 50 year old white Jewish guy.

"Where the white women at?"

"You said rape twice" "I like rape"

"It sounds like steam escaping"

"Watch me f****ts!"

"He says the sheriff is near!"

"Next man moves the n***** gets it!"

Richard Pryor was on this writing staff, so there's that.

Mel Brooks or someone in the movie industry could get it made, but you are right, it would be harder. People often fight hard to get things made they believe in.

so my lady and i liked daredevil a lot but thought season two was better than season one mostly because they deveelop punisher and it is awesome right now we are watching in to the bad lands it is 1 episode in but i like anything with swords because that reminds me of the path of the brohan and bromauri warriors take that to the bank bromigos

Just finished up Luke Cage.. meh.. OK, but not a "Must see" series in my book

Loved Jessica Jones, but this one fell flat for me..

I think what I liked most about JJ was the "completion" of the story Arc so Season 2 will be "fresh" .. Luke Cage will be more of the same when season 2 rolls around so not as excited for season 2 as I am for JJ.

Final season of Rectify is out on Netflix now. Maybe it has been for a bit? We just noticed the other day.

It is the slowest most difficult show we have ever liked. Curious to see how it ends.

Watched the last two episodes yesterday.. It is the definition of a "Slow-Slow" burn type of show.  I did enjoy all 4 seasons, but am glad they "wrapped" it up, so to speak, as it was time.

Interesting to me is two of my favorite "new" shows this year are characters from Rectify..
Teddy was a character i disliked the most on Rectify, but he is great on Lethal Weapon and Amantha is a central character on Timeless which has been very enjoyable to watch.

Watching "Occupied"

It's a Scandinavian show from the production company Yellow Bird who has done a few things I have liked.

Annika Bengtzon, Wallander, Girl with the dragon tattoo series and a cool movie Headhunters.

This show is about Norway stopping their oil/gas production which leads to Russia wanting to occupy their country.

While the story is far fetched but I enjoy the characters, feel the acting is very good and am entertained by the premise and how the show is slow playing the occupation.

That and I am a sucker for foreign dramas.

Give it a shot if it's in your wheelhouse.

Gets off to a pretty fast start so not like you have to invest too many hours to decide.
2 episodes in and I will definitely keep going. Good so far.

Watched the adventures of buckaroo banzai for the first time in 20 years or so. Soooo stupid. Soooo great. One of my favorites.

Big-booTAY!

It ended last Fall.

It's one of the best series I've ever seen, and it gets even better after season one (when there was no sure bet it would be renewed). If you like it now, you should like it more going forward.

I changed my mind on Teddy as the show went on. Like the rest, he was a damaged person and props to the writers  - and even moreso to the actor - who made him more understandable as the series went on. He started like a cartoon and I was   but they did an incredible job with him.

The rest of the cast was at least as good.

And, if I still partook of the herbs, I'd sell my soul to smoke with Amantha.

Agreed on Teddy.. hated him for most of the first 3 seasons.. Whiny, poor me SOB who was more annoying then anything else. But as you said, the writers, and then actor himself made a Great change and yea, by the end his characters story line was better.

And yea, back in my Toking days, laying in a satellite dish partaking in a toke with Amantha would, well ...

Another thing the show did that I appreciated was the way they portrayed Tawny. I am the farthest thing from religious (& the problems I have with organized spirituality knows no bounds), but I get a little tired of the ways those that ARE are painted in TV & movies. It's so one-note and reactionary. So it was nice to see a character like Tawny (who was really the soul of the show) played like she was.

Yeah, we have seen the first three seasons but we only have Netflix so we had to wait for the last season.

As someone said, it's a sloooooooow burn but I like it.

Firefly is scheduled to leave instant streaming April 1st.  They sometimes extend shows like this and keep them, but I haven't seen the series in a while so I am re-watching it before then just in case.
