Ryan was awful and should have been booted after 1 season.
I liked him in smaller doses when he was the douchy NYC Boss...the knowitall kid with a degree and no sales or practical experience  bossing around the sales manager with all of the practical experience...and the dynamic of how Michael once considered himself Ryan’s mentor, now being pushed around by him....

i also thought they should have permanently made Ryan a boss, rather than not knowing what the hell they were doing with him for like 7 seasons
I am pretty sure Ryan was a writer and/or producer of the show and that is one reason he didn’t have a more prominent on screen role, at least I think I read something like that once. Same may be true with Toby possibly?

Just binged Everything Sucks and I really liked this one

the first ep was a little rough, but it got tons better....

definitely a Freaks and Geeks vibe to it...
I've enjoyed it so far. I think my favorite part about the series so far is the music, clothes, and food/beverages from the 90's that we often forget about. Spin Doctors, Surge, Jolt...It also helps the series is based on high school freshmen when in 1996, which is when I was a high school freshman. However, there are some things that belong more in the early 90's that I've noticed on the show - nobody was wearing Zubaz anymore in '96, especially not in high school. The bright colors and wacky shapes theme was definitely more early 90's than mid-late 90's. That being said, I think it's pretty well done and I actually look forward to watching the rest of it.

Yeah, BJ Novak (Ryan) was the writer, director, and executive producer. Probably had a lot to do with it.

Watched "Freeway : Crack in the system" and it was....ok.  It was interesting to hear that a former corrections officer turned rapper took the name "Rick Ross" because it had street value as a drug kingpin and he thought the real Rick Ross would never get out of prison.  Oops.  There was a reporter with a conspiracy story about how the proceeds of crack were used to fund Contras through the CIA, so if that's your bag this will scratch that itch.

Derren Brown: The Push I Official Trailer [HD] I Netflix

Psychological Illusionist Derren Brown makes his much-anticipated US debut with the groundbreaking special The Push, which premieres on Netflix February 27. In The Push, Brown exposes the psychological secrets of obedience and social compliance. He expertly lifts the lid on the terrifying truth that, when confronted with authority, our natural instinct is to unflinchingly obey without question – to such an extent that even the most moral people can be made to commit the most horrendous acts, simply because they are told to do so.

yeah, came here to post this.  The concept of this show makes me uncomfortable.

Yes!

With casting, I really don't need to see Julia Roberts or Tom Hanks in a movie again. They're good actors, but enough already. When you watch a movie with lesser known actors or non-actors doing roles, it's just so much more interesting. If an American network decided to cast Babylon Berlin, that older cop would be cast much younger and more handsome. That all these people look real just elevates the material far above your standard fare.
To be fair, these could all be massive stars in Germany for all we know.

Love this guy.  Been following him for well over 10 years.

In one special he got like 3 out of 4 participants to attempt to rob an armored money truck.

So good.

Is this Along the same lines as the Stanford prison experiment?

Knocked out End Of The F**cking World in one sitting last night...loved it, right up my alley in terms of humor.  The socially awkward/absurd British niche is my wheelhouse, I guess; probably why I liked Peep Show so much, too

Wife and I are about 6 or so eps into Black Mirror.  It's intriguing, though not interesting, if that makes sense.  I think we're just so used to there being a theme or point to tv shows, it's still a bit hard to grasp that it's all not related.  That said, *is* there an overall theme or central story arch revolving around social media and society's evolving interaction with it?  Because that seems to be the constant in each episode.

Dark (great) and Babylon Berlin (good -- especially in the episodes where Berlin in the Roaring 20s is a centerpiece character) are both worth watches as long as you don't mind bad dubbing or captioned German.

Also, Season 2 of "Call My Agent" is excellent.  No idea how they're going to bring all the story arcs home without dropping the ball, but the finale threw everything into the air and set up Season 3 very well.

I can't speak on The Push, but he uses NLP concepts such as anchoring to elicit states.  The bank robbery was all about risk and seizing the moment.  He used a Jackson 5 song and the color bright green to anchor those mind states and to trigger them at the correct time.  Hypnosis is a big part of it also.  He debunks psychics and mentalists but knows their tricks.   He can tell you what song you're singing in your head.... Because he put it there.

I can post some links to some of his stuff.  He's been doing shows and specials on BBC since the early 2000s or so.  Awesome stuff.

Finished it up over the weekend. Yea, it was good. When does Season 2 come out?

Was planning on doing another Marvel series but started Altered Carbon. Previously finished Daredevil. When I am done with Altered Carbon which Marvel should I tackle?
Chronologically, go with Jessica Jones, then Luke Cage, then Iron Fist, then Defenders.  For me, the first 2/3 of Luke Cage was the best stretch of the shows, but most prefer JJ.

Still prefer Seinfeld, bu the American The Office is great and definitely on my top 10 all time sitcom list.
I notice with my kids, they love The Office and just can't tolerate Seinfeld.  It's the laugh track... Office, Scrubs, 30 Rock, and Parks wrecked sitcoms with laugh tracks for me - it seems that the same is true for my kids, who never watched a show with a laugh track and can't handle it.

I haven't heard many positive comments about Iron Fist. I chose to skip it and don't think I really missed much when I saw the Defenders. He's a pretty lame character IMO.

I think Toby, Kelly and Ryan were all writers/EPs.

About 3 episodes in on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I thought it would be something the wife and I could watch together. Ok so far, it's been highly recommended so giving it a chance. Wasn't the biggest fan of Ellie Kemper on the office so I'm worried.

That must have been what they were all doing in the back room.

With that thought, I read something once about what the rest of the actors were doing at their desks in the background shots. I will try to find it.

Edit it to add: they surfed the net. Not as funny as I remembered.

That's a show I can take in small doses.  The premise is good, and there are more than a couple laugh out loud moments each episode, but the quirkiness gets a bit over the top after a few consecutive binge watching episodes.  I can certainly understand how someone would come away from it and hate it completely.

If you just finished Daredevil I'd go right into the Punisher

There's things I really like about this show.

But that gay character? Feels more like a 1985 gay stereotype. A bit much.

I mean I get that. But there are plenty of comedies sans laugh tracks that simply aren't funny. I'm not willing to miss all that good writing for only that reason.

My youngest daughter watches the Full House reboot on Netflix, so turrible. I sat and watched an episode with her and laughed loudly every time the laugh track went off, then noted that what was just said wasn't funny. She was not amused.

Couldn't stand him at first, but he soon became my favorite part of the show.  I'm pretty sure he's just playing a professionally written version of himself.

Jane Krakowski's character is what stopped me from watching the show.  I could not get past how much I hated her.
