i cringe at most of the Disney shows and avoid them if at all possible. my boy is trying to cultivate his own slightly random sense of humor and a show like that fits it.

I think for the most part it does. It would've been nice if maybe they put more of an aspect on social issues and learning disabilities at school like someone his struggles learning in the class room. I feel too many people don't know that about people with autism. The character Sam like myself are on the high functioning end of the spectrum. Though it does a good jo overall with everything else. Micheal Rappoports father character is somewhat similar to my dad. He never left and Sam in the show is at the age where Aspergers and Autism are diagnosed faster. When I was younger all the way up to my last year of JR college I didn't know I had Aspergers till I saw my new adult neurologist. A lot of what I did was in the book Augusten Burroughs' memoir Running with Scissors that talks about his brother John Elder Robison. He was able to tell me within in hr that I never had tourette syndrome. My mom got me John's book Look Me in the Eye (when I was younger I couldn't look people in the eye when talking to me, Still do it with strangers) for Christmas that year (Diagnosed in April of that year), and reading it I felt like I was reading about my life. A lot of what he went through I went through with certain struggles of it from social and education issues to special interests. We all don't have the same interests. John's was more technological where I'm more Sports and history and music. With the Eagles being my favorite team owner Jeffrey Lurie his brother is autistic and is starting an Autism challenge a Run/walk/bike and the Eagles have been very big in the community since announcing it. I was already a huge Eagles fan but with this, well it just shows I think we were meant for each other no matter what. I feel closer to this team then anything else other then family. My one co workers son is one of the assistant DB coaches. He was at New Hampshire as a player Chip Kelly's last year before Chip left for Oregon. So I guess you could say the Eagles winning a Super Bowl became a very personal matter for me.
I do suggest reading John's books though. If you know someone with Aspergers or Autism or just want to learn more about it. It's a cool book, sad and depressing at times the life he went through to get where he's at but in the end it gives a better understanding of Autism and Aspergers in general. I felt like I learned a lot about myself and the his life basically explained mine. I got answers essentially why I do some things differently then others. One of the things he does that I started doing is he tries to remember the last conversation he has with people which is how he remembers them if he hasn't seen them in awhile. I totally forgot my one classmates name at our 5 yrs HS Reunion and felt terrible. Not just because I couldn't remember her name but she was always so nice to me in school. She recently moved back home too. My Cousin also works at a local HS with kids on the autistic spectrum as well which is a huge help. A lot of my friends who I still hang with now get why I am the way I am and I feel like they really go above and beyond to help me at times. This isn't to say I can't do stuff on my own because I can. They are just there to make sure people don't take advantage of me without me knowing it's happening. Even my store director at work I don't get in as much trouble with him. After awhile and us changing companies I've more so become someone he can come up to and get to help him. I usually go around the store putting up all the decorations depending on the holiday, changing the ceiling signs that hang up and other little things. Also when talking to him I may still say stuff I shouldn't say but he lets it go because he knows I have trouble explaining stuff at times. Ever since I was diagnosed with it I feel like I now understand myself way better and it's helped tremendously. My Neurologist as I was curious said even if I had learned I had Aspergers at a younger age considering the lack of knowledge we had about it when I was younger stuff school wise may not have changed and any changes may have been very minor. It's not like today if I was missed diagnosed that changing to Autism would make a huge difference given what we know now about it.

Only shows I like that are on TV and I watch religiously are Blue Bloods and Hawaii Five-O. Other shows are Shameless, GOT, Ray Donovan, Black Flag that just ended, Homeland and Gotham but I totally forgot about the Spring premier so I'm backed up to the Fall episodes. Everything else for the most part I watch streamed from HBO/Starz/Netflix. I'm backed up on some shows myself

They also made a Netflix original of the Magic School bus. I watched the first few episodes only to see if it was similar to the original. It is but the teachers younger Sister takes over the class now. The Theme music the lyrics still similar but with a more up to date tune. It looks like they didn't go to far past the original. Not sure how old your kids are but it might be good if they are in that age group

my 10yo won't watch animated shows any more, which means his 6yo little sister probably won't soon either.

Disney shows use to be great but I feel they are more about an agenda these days Even Nickelodeon isn't great either. When I get kids at some point I'm gonna try to get them into the original shows I use to watch as kids. A few of my friends have already done this and one of my friends said their 4 yr old son told him today's cartoons "suck" (Literally the word that came out of his mouth) compared to what you watched when you were my age.

It's still animated and I feel weird saying it but Frizzel's sister they make pretty hot in the show. Kind of reminds me of my young art history professor in College. I was gonna take her art history 2 class because not only was she that good looking but she was great with what she did. She was maybe slightly older then us too maybe 3-5 yrs older but she transferred to a different college to be full time instead of an adjunct professor. The Sister in the show has similar qualities as her and at the end of the show when they do the whole questions about the show Friz still does it now with a monkey instead of Liz who stayed with the class. All the original characters are still in it but older now too.

It is a bit old school but if anyone is looking for a great animated series they can enjoy with their kids, I would highly recommend Avatar The Last Air Bender. Wonderful story that keeps both young and old interested.
The sequel The Legend of Korra is fabulous as well but that can skew to a slightly older youth audience.

i think Avatar is on Prime actually. Same with Korra. i watched an episode or two with my son about a year ago. it's a step above Lego Ninjago and less tedious than Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. i think it was too complicated then but it's worth a revisit now maybe.
my son's morning routine is/was watching a PBS Kids show like "Wild Kratts", "Odd Squad" or "Word Girl" before breakfast. After he eats then he would watch "Phineas & Ferb". I wanted to keep the school mornings light, playful and funny. Now that "P & F" have moved from Netflix, I am trying a rotation of similar styled show. This "Who Was" show fits that but I'll go back to "Peabody & Sherman", "Inspector Gadget" and others too.

Yes seasons 1 and 3 were amazing. Season 2 wasn't terrible but not the same level as those other 2.
What was the scene that shocked you? I wanna watch the whole season again.

I watched these with my son years ago. We might be the only two people on the planet who loved the movie version and were disappointed they dropped it. He’s 13 now and still has them all downloaded on his kindle. Still watches occasionally on a plane or long car ride. He’s probably run through the whole 3 seasons 10 times. Yeah... Did the unravelling of the truth thing with just enough hints to keep you rightly and wrongly guessing along the way. Ended well too. I didn't live this, but thought it was consistent and decently done even if I kept wondering why Dexter was talking funny.

Finished S3 of "Better Call Saul" and loved it. It's such a well-built little show that understands how to tell a story over time effectively. It's not perfect but Banks, Odenkirk, and the cast do great things.
S2 of "Handmaid's Tale" starting for us. Looking forward to it!

Few series running through lately.
Evil Genius. Thought this was a big bore. No idea why anyone thought this person was a genius. Mentally disturbed? Sure. But I mean there was nothing brilliant about either the caper nor any of the individuals.
The Rain. Acting and story were pretty tame, nothing ground breaking here. But I cared more for these survivors then anyone in walking dead history. Something just resonated. Go in with low expectations and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
The Dark. Really really like this one. Story and characters keep my interest and I think the pacing is great. Lots of questions, keeps you thinking and it may be just me but the character selection is just spot on.
Also just watched "Anon". Like Clive Owen, Amanda Seyfried is very pretty, the story was interesting enough.....but just fell short in the end. I dunno if it was because of the first player shooter graphics felt terrible, or they rushed to the big reveal, but I thought it could have been a lot better.

The Rain..... I went in with zero expectations and couldn't last more than 10 minutes- the plot driving writing where all the action makes no sense other than to get from point A to B etc. Bagged it. And I'm still kinda watching TWD- so I obviously have terrible taste.
Totally agree about Anon. Had some interesting ideas, but kind of fell flat. Also weird how empty that city was...

I did better than ten minutes with The Rain, maybe 20. I just started The Method - Russian crime drama, hot law school graduate goes into police work to solve a very personal cold case. She's hot and so are some of her classmates. She's hot when she's angry. I'm 6 minutes and 42 glorious seconds into e1.16 episodes? Absolutely.

I'm on episode 8 and while there certainly are some bad scenes, o overall I've found it to be a decent watch.
Gave up after one season of TWD.
To each their own.
Will try safe next. Or finish lost in space which was disappointing imo, I had high expectations.

We ended up finishing Lost in Space...not sure we needed to- was a mess and poorly written.

Justified has its moments. Walton Goggins is fun even if he was better, imo, on "The Shield". Margo Martingale has a nice run for a season or two, iirc. Natalie Zea is crazy hot.

They sure did. Wish they had put more into his learning issues though. Hopefully Season 2 goes into that. I've had similar issues as the main character since I have Aspergers especially when it comes to girls. I've had a few that I thought liked me but were just stringing me along and taking advantage of me to just get back at an ex, parent/s etc. Never had a steady GF or someone for more then a few months. The whole family aspect my dad has always had issues with some of my issues. Thinks my mom babies me too much and to some degree true but, he also has some unmanageable expectations of me as well. My younger brother isn't as great as he can be but he's gotten better. My mom like the main characters mom has always been the one doing a lot for me and my middle brother like this characters older sister has been the most compassionate and understanding of the situation. I don't see my neurologists that much do to money (My insurance only covers so much) and I'm not someone who needs to go see him all the time. However when I first went and after a couple meetings I expressed to my mom and him that I wanted my dad to at least attend one of these things or two which he never has done and still hasn't and nor has he read the book my mom got me that Christmas. So to an extent he is similar to Michael Rapoports dad character. My dad and I use to do everything together but got into totally different interest. Instead of trying to get involved with my interests (which many experts and people who deal with kids and others with it say is the best route to go) he just makes fun of them or critiques them from sports interests to my wrestling interests. The key to making people with autism trust you and have a better relationship with them is act like you want to get involved with their interests. Maybe eventually they turn on to yours but you need to at least talk and act interested in their hobbies and interest. However you need to teach them the appropriate times to discuss these interests as well.

Has anyone watched that Netflix Series Wild West or whatever it's called? It looked interesting but not sure if it's worth it or not. I haven't gotten into a good western series since Deadwood however I haven't checked Hell on Wheels yet either.

i like Olyphant, too, since Deadwood. I watched S1 of Justified on Fx each week but less zealously in subsequent seasons. if it was on and i had nothing better to do kind of thing. Martingale's season was the last one for me.
