Just finished season one of Better Call Saul. It was a ramp up season, I get it. Pacing is slow, similar to Breaking Bad, but they deliver with nuggets of awesome that keep me coming back. The Episode where Mike talks about his son was top notch television.

Yea.. we talked about it in the Official thread.. A "Mike" series, at least in my opinion, would be :moneybag:

Watched first epi of Umbrella Academy. I won't let me almost 9 year old watch it based on this first episode. Too violent, too mature thematically. That said, I think it looks like a blast and will watch it myself. I like its decidedly non-Marvel/DC roots.
I am 4 episodes in and am really liking this one

On Prime, there is a season of a Russian show set in Moscow 1960, during Kruschev and the Cold War, called "The Optimists". I watched the first episode out of curiosity. It's a good looking show with the obvious feel of "Mad Men" maybe but set in a Soviet foreign ministry office. It's surprisingly good, imo, and would recommend if you're looking to change things up. Less overtly dramatic than say other period shows like quality shows "The Game" or "The Hour" but still kind of interesting.

Only 20mins left in Cobra Kai, and it didn't get better.  Just about everything I hate about the wave of sequels/remakes - it has nothing to do with telling an original story, just checking off boxes of scenes and lines that they can mimic from the original.  Also, like a lot of others like this the only "original" thing is doing a slight role reversal for some of the characters.

I will admit to having an unhealthy love for the original Karate Kid, but I found this to be Karate Kid 3 or Next Karate Kid level bad.

<Giant fart sound> cobra kai was the most fun I had watching a show last year.

I've gotten through 4 hours or so of this, but for me it's more on the lines of having fun with it because it's so bad and cheesy.  I say it's KK3 level bad, but I have watched that movie multiple times.

Pine Gap. Watched the first episode and it was ok, just didn't grab me yet. Like the Aussie intelligence girl and Charles Manson, but nobody else is sticking out.

We did a couple episodes before pulling the plug. It's a thriller that is so not thrilling... lots of people looking at each other and not much else. If you keep watching let me know if anything actually happens.

Just finished this up and it was awesome.  Should get it's own thread special imo.

@beer 30, agreed definitely not for kids but the TV14 reading is probably about right.  Well worth a watch imo and had me wanting to check out the comics hoping there's more story out there.  Very well done.

watched "Get Low" last night. a very nice cast with Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek, and others. Duvall plays a recluse in post WWI rural community (KY maybe) and he decides he wants to throw a big party for the community as his funeral. Secrets come out. It's a nice, low-key film with some nice performances. Script isn't anything special but whatever. Music is pretty damn good. Duvall is always doing good work it seems.

I couldn’t find this.

So my Netflix account got hacked last night.

First time ever something of mine got hacked that I know of.

What a half pain in the ###.   Customer service was really great and horrible all at the same time.

Bubbles (and especially Conkey) bring some good laughs.
I watched the first 4-5 seasons of trailer park boys and found it entertaining but it's not for everyone. I rewatch the first Conkey episode when I need a good laugh, perfect combination of creepy/funny(especially for those that grew up scared ####less of the movie Magic).

I watched episode one too, I'm in. Now just need to find time to watch it. Juggling three netflix shows at the moment(Better Call Saul, The Good Place and now this   )

The premise of Umbrella Academy seems like it could be cool but i watched the first episode and was not impressed.  Seemed like there may be a combo of lazy writing and bad acting about to happen which is a surefire loser. Does it get better?

I've enjoyed it so far, about 4 or 5 in. Not groundbreaking stuff, but enjoyable and interested in seeing where it goes. I'd put it at Travellers level, which is mostly a good thing.

Yeah its ok. Nothing special. Definitely not for kids and kids would probably be bored by it. The whole dysfunctional family coming together thing has been done a million times, especially on Netflix.

Well I just learned a lot:  the guy who wrote the Umbrella Academy comic is none other than My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way.  I know it’d be self-serving, but if season 2 could open to an homage to The Black Parade that would be amazing.  Apparently the superhero siblings are loosely based on he and his band mates.

Since he is a part of the emo era monarchy, that explains the tone of the show.  The kid who plays Number 5 was great.

#5 and Klaus are great. Allison is hot. Most of their "powers" seem pointless except #5.

If you have a daughter, niece, sister, any young lady you care about watch Abducted in Plain sight.  Just bonkers.
There were more "Are you *explitive* kidding me" moments in that doc than I can recall seeing in a long time

You can sense that the old FBI agent is still angry at the parents.  I don't blame him, as I was enraged... I needed a 20 minute "cool down" afterward.  The whole thing was just sickening

The Prince:  Not bad, not great.  lot of shoot it up & the story was decent.  You could do a lot worse.   6.75/10

Finally got around to starting Black Earth Rising.

I don't think it's going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm enjoying it so far after 3 episodes.  I think it's 8 total.  Has to do with the Rwandan Civil War, a genocide survivor and cases of war crimes.

"Fantastic Mr. Fox" for family movie night last night. I saw it in the theater when it came out originally but not since. I'm a less enthusiastic Wes Anderson fan boy these days but this is still great fun. My boy loved it too. Nice voicework from Clooney, Streep, Schwartzman, and the always good Michael Gambon.

"Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" with Angelina. I couldn't even make it 10 minutes before turning off. It is a slice of 2001 cinema that elicits groans. I didn't remember it as being this bad.

We watched the pilot for The Informer on amazon- British about recruiting/strongarming a seemingly good kid into informing for counter terrorism unit.

Pretty great start- acting, writing, casting, sites...really pulled me in to something I feel like I haven't seen before (that side of England) in a very real way- nothing feels stupid or hokey at all...yet.
Just watched episode 1. Completely agree. 100% hooked, awesome start.
